Mata | Mourinho says it's just a Mata of time

mata will defo improve our squad and even perhaps our first xi but fact remains he was out of favour at his club and is not a top top tier player. I'm all in favour of us signing him, but to compete at the top levels of English and European football, we still need 2 genuine world class players to boost our aging defence and starved midfield. I hold my breathe until Moyes is able to bring such talent into the club

You're making him out to be a good signing for the squad when in fact he immediately becomes one of our top 3 players. He was also the best player in the prem last season alongside RVP, Suarez and Bale and even now is Chelsea's best player(doesnt fit mourinho's plans is another thing).

He is a genuinely world class player, however you may define it.

Yes, we still need a top CM but its not as if we had a choice between Mata and Vidal and chose Mata. Signings like these are almost impossible in Jan unless there's a side angle. Thankfully for us, this being the WC year combined with Mata not being in Mourinho's plans was exactly the angle we needed. Us still agreeing to pay 37mil for him should tell you everything about his quality.

Mata is world class. Absolutely no doubt about that.

Haha, it's ok. Songs get stuck in my head constantly. At least it's a quite decent song, and all for a good reason.

As the whole thing drags on the song is repeating constantly in my head too don't worry, strangely the rhythym is getting slower and slower, so much so that if this isn't done by the Monday I may find myself standing outside Old Trafford singing it in Druidic style.

I'll be there with you, I refuse to sing in Welsh though.

No need to panic, it'll happen. Mourinho was damn sure that it's going to happen.

Juan Mata's £40m transfer to Manchester United from Chelsea has been delayed. His medical may not happen now until the weekend and some work is still required for the deal to be completed.

The delay is at the Chelsea end of the move rather than at United and, though Mata had been expected to have a medical by the close of Friday, this is now in the balance, despite José Mourinho saying the player had travelled to have the examination. Yet both clubs are understood to have no concerns, with United relaxed about what would be a club record deal according to sources at Old Trafford.

Earlier, Mourinho signalled that Mata will soon be a United player. "Things are going in a good direction," the Chelsea manager said. "We have allowed Juan to travel and have the medical. The player deserves respect and to play and because the offer is right, we allowed him to negotiate," he said.

After all Mourinho's talk on respecting the player, letting him move to United because he wants to stay in England, not dictating where he goes to etc.etc. you feel that they can't really pull out now.

It'll happen, I'm confident.

So yeah, does anybody have any idea when we need to finalize things and register Mata so that he could play on Tuesday night?

BREAKING: Mata agrees personal terms with Manchester United after Chelsea sign off record £37m transfer #mufc

I'm confused now.

If we are trying to structure the deal rather than pay it in one lump then it bodes well for future big transfers in this window or summer considering we have £100m+ in cash sitting in the bank and as far as I am aware we usually pay upfront unless it's a younger player with performance related clauses.

Mata-dydd, Mata-dydd, Mata-dydd,
Mata-dydd, Mata-dydd, Mata-dydd,
Mata-dydd, Mata-dydd, Mata-dydd, ym eithaf iawn.

It's quite catchy in Welsh actually.

I believe it's 12pm Monday. I always remember 12pm deadlines on Fridays for weekend games so it's a guess.

So just to confirm then...you don't have a fecking clue?

It's madness in here... I'm sure there are a few things holding it up, it's still going to be a done deal, bottom line is it'll be done in January. I'd rather it be the payment structure reason, as if we do have a good £90m that I've seen bandied about, it mean's we will still have a fair amount left, which goes hand in hand with the idea that we are still looking at other players.. hopefully of the centre midfield variety
