Chelsea want 70m . He is not worth more than 30m when he has 4 years left in his contract, let alone 1 year left. Arnold and Murtough doing their last stupid work before they feck off.
It's absolute madness if we sign someone for that amount when he hasn't shown any kind of consistent form or that he's better than Jesse Lingard was.Chelsea want 70m . It would only make sense for me if he's on a free. Otherwise, the qualities he could bring, we don't need them as urgently as othersChelsea want 70m . It's not because it's easier to say "I don't know anyone, so there isn't anyone". But it's because I really don't know anyone so you should tell me who is this anyone if you think there is. Hence why I open to discuss this. We've engaged on this topic in another thread, but it's easier to say "I don't know anyone, so there isn't anyone". I personally will wager we will sign 2 midfielders this summer and one will fit the mould of a deeper, ball progressing midfielder.
I agree just because fans are not all clued in the market of players doesn't mean anything.I get your point. I just wanted to mention another side of the equation, the fact that fans are not all clued in the market of players doesn't mean anything
If this is really a signing EtH wants to make, my opinion on him drastically changes. Major red flag! This isn't Ajax anymore, we need to challenge for major trophies.
I never rated Mount tbh, maybe I'm too biased but it would take a long run of consistent performances to convince me he's that guyI agree just because fans are not all clued in the market of players doesn't mean anything.
But I'm not basing this on fans not clued in the market of players, I'm saying this could the reason why we want to sign Mason Mount despite already have Bruno, the likely is that because we couldn't find the available player that fits the manager's profile to play deep-playmaker role so ETH thinks let's use Bruno instead and sign Mason Mount to play the attacking mid role.
Why doesn’t he start for Chelsea?Arteta, Klopp, Tuchel and Ten Hag all rate him. Maybe just maybe he’s a good player. He progresses the ball very well and his off the ball attributes are arguably right up there with the leagues best.
However I still wouldn’t want us to use 55 million of our budget on him.
Because he was ruled out for the season back in April with an injury that required surgery / didn’t really fit with Potter’s attempt at whatever it was he did back when Potter was in charge. Why doesn’t he start for Chelsea?
The problem with saying "He's like Park" is that when we had Park running around we mostly had Carrick, Scholes, Cristiano, Rooney and then another guy (Tevez, Giggs, Berba, Fletcher) so basically tons of quality but not a ton of graft and running (Rooney, Tevez and Fletcher from that group).
Right now, we have Bruno, Casemiro, Rashford, Antony and a new #9 penciled in as front 6 starters and then Eriksen and Garnacho presumably playing a ton too. You look at that group, and what's obviously lacking is composure on the ball (outside of Antony and Eriksen and Kane if we get him).
Bruno and Casimero both have composure
I genuinely had to double check if this post was made in the Mason Mount thread.I always thought if he had a Spanish football education. He'll have been utilized as a Pedri/Iniesta sort of midfielder. He can dribble explosively in tight spaces to transition attack and very good with the little give an go alongside his immense work rate and goal scoring.
If we add him and Rabiot that will be an improvement to the likes of Donny/Sabitzer and Mcsause.
In big games I can see us playing a Rabiot, Casemiro pairing with Mount in front of them and Fernandes on the right. We'll be better against the top 8 that we struggle against away from home that way.
They absolutely don’t. They treat the ball like hot potato and they’re far from the only ones. The only players we have genuine composure on the ball are Shaw and MartinezBruno and Casimero both have composure
This is why you have a proper director of football, ETH might just be building up his own collection of very expensive deadwood for the next guy to have to deal with. It’s a never ending cycle. If this is really a signing EtH wants to make, my opinion on him drastically changes. Major red flag! This isn't Ajax anymore, we need to challenge for major trophies.
Mason Mount won the CL a few years ago and was named Chelsea's player of the season that year.
How many of our current team have won the CL? The former Real Madrid boys. That's it.
I may be underrating him but I wouldn’t want him on a free clogging the wage bill if better options were available.
Anything more than £30m would be awful.
I'm not criticising you for not knowing anyone, I'm criticising the argument. I don't personally have access to something like wyscout, or whatever to screen on metrics, but it's not hard to do something like the following:It's not because it's easier to say "I don't know anyone, so there isn't anyone". But it's because I really don't know anyone so you should tell me who is this anyone if you think there is. Hence why I open to discuss this.
There are two possibilities that there could be someone out there or there might not be someone out there. It's not just about one possibility.
*fingers in my ears because it’s not what I want to hear la la la la la*Ornstein is reporting Mounts preference and then follows up with we're "preparing a bid". Reads like an O jogo headline about Garay or Gaitan.
Our priority is clearly a striker, but we're just gonna drop 55m on Mount first? I'll believe it when I see it.
How do you go from wanting frenkie to mount? Its like going from target A to target Z and missing ouy the rest of the alphabet of targets.
When it comes from Ornstein it is to be taken seriously.Ornstein is reporting Mounts preference and then follows up with we're "preparing a bid". Reads like an O jogo headline about Garay or Gaitan.

The only logical reason to buy Mount I can think of is as a direct replacement for Donny. Still can't figure out where he fits in after a few hours of sleep.
