I am absolutely fuming. If we don’t walk away from completely overpaying for such a relatively average player, then we will never walk away from anything.
Exactly what I said we should do with Kane.
Will speed things up, didn’t understand why they don’t get the negotiators together and hash out a deal there and then in a meeting, haggle it out.Telling United, let's sort this out over some tea and biscuits, the cheek of them
How? It hasn’t said we have taken them up on that offer to meet in person
I mean, there’ll be a lot more competition if he’s available on a free, no guarantee we’d get him then
Especially as the negotiations have been so public in terms of our bids and Chelsea's varying demands too.Not walking away now will affect our negotiations for a keeper and a striker and increase the budget by 30m.
I don’t think so. The club managing to squeeze £65m or more out of Arsenal for Havertz probably gave them confidence to hold out for the price they want for Mount. If the Havertz deal hadn’t happened I bet Mount would go for much less.
Yeah he's a lot better than EriksenDoes anyone think that this individual signing will make our starting lineup a lot stronger?
Feck that.Wouldn't mind him here but not for silly money with one year left.Leave it 'till 'January.
Don’t think you have to be a Chelsea fan for that. Just anyone with an understanding of football transfersAs a Chelsea fan my jaw actually dropped when I just saw the latest bid was rejected. I’m shocked that we didn’t accept the £55m.

No, I mean offer, then leave it. If they don't accept, then offer lower last day of the window.Would rather go and spend big on him
Every manager who has had Mount has rated him. Eriksen looks done at this level. So, yes.Does anyone think that this individual signing will make our starting lineup a lot stronger?

A definite improvement but not a lot stronger imo. I'm not a huge fan of Eriksen but I think his passing and general decision making is better than Mount's, so while Mount will bring other things to the table, he's certainly not better or equal to Eriksen in all the key departments.Does anyone think that this individual signing will make our starting lineup a lot stronger?
Possibly but this bid was meant to be the compromise. There's only £10m in it. Pretty sure they'll come to a compromise next week and it'll be done

Unless we get him for this £55m fee now, we come out looking weaker and give the message to other clubs that we'll meet their demands eventually. It feels like both sides are putting on a show but it will be done. United don’t want to be seen as walkovers and Chelsea know that losing a homegrown academy player to a domestic rival is a very poor look.
Offer them the same amount but add an additional £5million Ballon d'Or clause
Agreed, this is a good opportunity to move on and let other clubs we are negotiating with in the future know that we aren't afraid to walk if we feel like we are getting take advantage of. Time to restore United's reputation as shrewd negotiators. That’s fine, our solution is accept our latest offer of £55m or let him walk out the door for free. How about that?
