There’s one hypothetical situation where Majoral is sold, which is looking rather likely. Getafe are still very short on wide players anyway, even if he isn’t sold, Pellistri would be a big asset to them regardless.

No, the other one is that the Getafe manger might use him up top despite all the evidence to the contrary.

Another mediocre performance for the collection. Missed a good chance in the first half and didn't do much in general.

As always 3-4 bits where he shows he's naturally talented and cons the casual fan with the typical 1.30 mins highlights video. Combined with many instances where it's apparent he doesn't really get the game or doesn't care about it.

59 % pass completion today, bizarre numbers. 2 take ons completed, and obviously zero in defense as always, as defending is for the poor.

2 open play goals (+ a penalty) in half the season despite shooting at higher rate than anyone else in his team. +500 mins and 18 shots to score a goal in the league. The Man United saviour, ladies and gentlemen. Watch him score at home against cannon fodder like Granada and get cheered like a hero.

By the way Osasuna fans today showing their anger every time he touched the ball, and "Greenwood die" chants all game. Thank god we're not the ones having to put up with this garbage
every week added to his mediocre performances, on the top of all the problems we already have. Getafe deserve far more than 20 % of whatever we get this summer.

He'll just need to score a goal and it'll shut any stadium up.. over time and with enough goals, people will move on. It's silly to think that people believe one incident should = a lifetime of hatred when that incident was dismissed and the couple is still together. Hopefully he learned to not be a piece of poop and to respect women + the meaning of the word no, whether he stays or goes.

Because he’s pretty much their only winger at the club. He’s a wide forward/striker being played in midfield.

I highly doubt it. He plays as a wide midfielder in a 4-4-2 and the two strikers up top are goal scorers. It's pretty noticeable if you watch him play. The second possession is lost his intensity goes down a notch. The scenario @Yagami mentioned is not an instruction from the manager.
I could see it being tactical at first because he was nowhere near match fit. Now that he's much sharper, I can see in some instances where the manager may give him a bit of leeway due to being their best player, but I think he should be doing more.

When he was here, he was no Rooney/Tevez by any means in terms of workrate, but I never thought he was lazy either. He did his part defensively when asked. So I'm thinking it's probably more ego than managerial instructions because he's a big fish in a small pond there compared to here.

I just don't think its part of his game to press and track back in defense; something that definitely needs developing. Garnacho, despite being three years younger, is already more advanced in this area. I'd still have more confidence in Greenwood taking a shot on goal over the likes of Antony or Pellistri though.

I don't think he's ever really been fit enough to do it.

Before all the trouble Rangnick said his job now is to become a top level athlete. I'd agree with that, great ability but I'm seeing a lad who thinks that's enough.

I just don't see enough enthusiasm from him on the pitch to believe off the pitch he's a good trainer.

When he got sent off the other week I liked his reaction because I think that's the first time I've seen some real emotion from him on a football field.

My guess is you watched highlights and read his stats. Could be wrong just what it seems.

Yes, the fitness aspect would be a consideration, as would his natural demeanor about being more attack minded. It’s something he will have to develop since it would add an extra layer of value to his game that could compensate for periods when the goals dry up. At United, he wasn’t under any pressure to do it because he was surrounded by very good players and used mostly as a situational sub with modest expectations, which often resulted in him far exceeding them.

It could be fitness, but in the first 20 minutes or so when he was on the left he barely touched the ball and was still doing his jogging/walking bit.

Good post - and one the bizarre number of supporters he seems to still garner here will probably just ignore.

Yet another blank, 3 in 16, excluding the brace against a team of plumbers. Its not a convincing case for the return of such a potentially divisive character, who had already lost his international place due to behaviour before the more well known incident. My feeling is to take whatever we can get for him and sancho, and spend it wisely.

Same old issues with him. Did not follow up a very good performance against Sevilla. I think £30m will be the most we'll achieve for him this summer.

I watched the game and he was one of the better players so couldn’t disagree more with this assessment. The most frustrating thing in this thread is the lack of objectivity when it comes to his actual performances. What’s the obsession with trying to downplay his talent/performances? We get it some people think he’s guilty, what has that actually got to do with his performances on the pitch. Abit of objectivity in that department would be nice.

I watched as well and you're correct. He was decent (had a few quality shots on goal and crosses into the box) but not great. Certainly far from disappointing. The bit about people promoting/downplaying his performances to advance their respective agendas is also spot on, and perhaps unavoidable given the binary nature of internet arguements.

I do think he should have scored in the first half when he tried to pull it to the near post. He did very well to work the half yard to open up the space (something he’s brilliant at) but I think he would have been better placed going for the far corner. He does like that pulled near post finish though and I’ve seen him score them before so perhaps abit unlucky on this occasion.

I don't believe he watched the match. After switching to the right and before their two goals Greenwood was the only player who was getting a sniff on goal. His commentary on Greenwood's performance reads like someone who watched the highlights and looked at the stats.

The worst part is the cheerleading of the downplaying from those who have expressed no desire to even watch him play. Just pettiness for the sake of it.

Thanks. It’s totally your right to think that but there is enough people in this thread that have clearly said “I don’t care about that, as long as he plays football”, or “x, y, z have done it so why can’t we?”. There are plenty willing to ignore why it’s right to have standards
That’s not about standards though & it also isn’t just our fans it’s the football world at large.

If the club had standards in this area 1 of the 3 men with a statue on Matt Busby way wouldn’t be there.

There are certainly a few people saying ‘I don’t care’ but theres a number of posters making far more nuanced discussions.

We’ve both been in here long enough to know where abouts each other are but your assertion that’s it’s 1 side who have standards & the other is not is about as helpful as me saying, because you don’t want Greenwood to play but aren’t marching with pitchforks to have the Best statue taken down you’re all hypocrites. There’s a number of steps between the 2 just as there are on the Greenwood should play side.

I’m at the point where Greenwood playing again will make very little impact anyway & it’ll be pure profit for FFP so am actually beginning to lead more towards his sale but selling Greenwood doesn’t ’set a standard’, it’s simply another non-football thing people can feel good about cause the team are shite.

The football industry houses murderers, United selling Greenwood doesn’t set anything.

It’s fair to question why so many people are willing to go with the findings of the CPS in spite of what we all saw & heard but claiming those that don’t want him sold lack a non tangible standard removes any good faith in the discussion.

There’s no good faith in the discussion. I heard a man threatening to rape a woman and the same woman posted pictures saying he’d battered her. As a result said lad was kicked out of football for 18 months and forced to leave his club.

People who are arguing for him don’t have standards. I’m not going to pretend that they do.

The old, 'if you don't take the Best statue down you must accept all abuse of women' defence.

The tried and tested don't solve anything until you solve everything method.

It's a fairly thin veil to hide behind.

I didn’t at any time say they don’t have standards, I’m sure that they do in their own lives just that on this topic they don’t care, they just want him playing for United

I am a rape survivor. Convince me that I should support him playing for MY club.
I am so sorry that you went through that mate. My sister is a survivor of an alcoholic domestic abuser, and I can't believe what I'm reading in here. Unfortunately you won't get any replies to your post from the ones trying to justify him playing for United again, because, to put it simply, they just don't care.

Do you not think there are slightly worrying traits in his game if he wants to be effective at the top level? Comparing this performance to the one against Sevilla left me frustrated. Did not protect or keep the ball well and over effort levels seemed lower.

Yes. As mentioned earlier, he needs to develop more in terms of pressing and tracking back.

Or we believe in rehabilitation.

I recommend everyone to watch the highlights in order to see the Osasuna winner. I have never seen such a goal, remarkable.

Fair enough. I also just felt his decision making was far better against Sevilla. As effective as he can be, the selfish nature of some of his play can be very frustrating to watch.

Getafe is one of my favourite teams. If you have ever seen them pre-Greenwood (which reading your comments, I doubt) then you would understand why they are excited.

Its not “mediocre” at all. No, he’s not tearing it up every week, but that would be impossible to do in a team like Getafe.

He’s doing very well and is being strongly linked with bigger teams here in Spain. The boos and the “die Greenwood” chants have barely existed since his second match, so I’m not sure where you got that from.

Rehabilitation for what he did? Nope, I'll never believe in that thanks. He's still playing football in sunny Spain, he's gotten more of a break than most people would get in his situation.

As if he wasn't la liga player of the month.

The agenda against him personally doesn't make him any less of a world class talent on the pitch.

On the pitch he would be unreal for us. Just as he was before the incident.
