People forget he’s 20 years old. He has lots of skills. His pace and shooting in both feet is great. He needs guidance, he’s at a stage where what happens in training really important for him. His decision making needs to improve and that’s up to the manager and coaching staff to fix
I'd like to agree with the shooting comment but he's done nothing other than shoot this season and has barely scored any since the first 3 games.

Only if he puts down his head and listens though. His attitude seemed to be a problem according to the noise around. Who knows.

Ironically I think Mason through the middle today and we win. Elanga And Rashford playing off him. He is fuking quality, rarely loses the ball and is dangerous anywhere near goal....so classic Utd...we tell him to hug the fuking touchline...he is being wasted.

what i meant is that he has a good shot but decision making is off. That’s why he’s not scoring as he should

I thought he was reasonably good attacking but shocking defensively. If you watch both their goals carefully, Greenwood lets Villa outnumber us on the left by not paying attention and making minimal effort. 5 shots, 2 on target. Good in possession.

the noise is too loud. Don’t know what is right and what is wrong. But he doesn’t seem arrogant. He’s a 20 year old who needs to learn

Remember the time when he is being regarded as generational talent and being compared with the likes of Haaland.

Missed those times.

The Arjen Robben impression from the RW will get old fast.

Get him up front, get rid of the old timers sucking up not far off a million a week in wages and build for the future.

What poor decisions did he make today?

im not only talking about today. In general, sometimes it is better to stand on the ball, look up and make a simple pass. Running and shooting at defenders isn’t the right thing to do. I’m all for taking shots and trying, but again, sometimes a simple pass is better.

great potential

Sometimes players need to learn themselves. I mean do you see the sign that he is? I don't at this moment. He does the same things again and again and now his best attribute of shooting accuracy seemed gone.

I still believe it’s the guidance that will eventually make or break him. He’s a 20 year old kid

He was OK today, not sure why he was brought off as he was probably just as good as Elanga. Cavani should have been the sub, Greenwood goes to the middle and Sancho on the right.

Better with team players like Cavani and Elanga.

He should not play in the same team as Ronaldo and Rashford. There's just no connection.

The next manager (hopefully ten Hag) will make him into a beautiful player that'll be a team player also.

Rangnick is having to unravell the shoot on sight policy Ole had ingrained in Mason.

He's still learning and it's obvious as he's much more capable of tussling with defenders and riding challenges now.

He was quite good for the first 60 minutes or so, arguably our best player barring one or two moments where he perhaps should have passed. Was more involved in the pressing that normal as well (which played a part in our second goal). He's also showing moments of good hold-up play as well, which was completely lacking from his game in the past and was a big reason he would struggle to play as a striker.

Looked completely exhausted after the 60 minute mark though. In the five minutes before he was subbed off I don't think he got above walking pace a single time, and opposition players were just running down that channel as he was a complete non-entity.

Seems like the guy who took 2 shots and scored 2 goals was arguably our best player today -- over the guy who shot 5 times and scored 0.

Why can't he play for 90 minutes?

He is a player that reminds me of Isco Alarcon.

Many people saying that he is an incredible player because he does 2 or 3 nice things during the game, but those things that he does are useless for the team. A player that makes fans happy but a problem within the team.

He thinks he is as good as Cristiano Ronaldo when he was his age, but the reality is that he is light years away from that quality.

He doesn't have the physical attributes to be a central attacker, he can only be in a front 2 playing with a striker physically stronger. The problem is that he thinks he can be the main attacker of the duo, something that will never happen because once again he does not have the quality that Cristiano has/had.

He also doesn't have the quality of great wingers like Hazard or Bale, and adding to that problem is the fact that he's probably the most selfish player I've ever seen.

He won’t be playing in a big European team in a consistent way if he continues to be this lazy and selfish.

Can tell his confidence is low and he’s desperate to get a goal. Trying to hard to force it.

Had a few very impressive dribbles today, the kid has immense skill. Got into good positions and pressed well for 60 minutes. Died on his arse after that, which should have been clear pretty quickly and he should have been subbed.

Extremely disappointed with him this season as he seems to have absolutely lost his way. Doesn't play for the team or teammates; won't select the best options anymore; isn’t trying to work good angles before shooting, but worst of all, he does such a half-arsed job defensively to the point it looks like he thinks it's beneath him to work backwards and track runners when players at far more successful teams than him, with profiles considering them some of the best players in the world right now have no qualms running their hearts out for Pep, Klopp and Tuchel.

It winds me up more than any of the offensive issues how he half-arses graft. I felt he could have killed both goals at source by tracking the initial man on his flank, but he makes a gesture of tracking and he'll stop dead in his tracks at his earliest convenience, which is shirking responsibility.

Rashford is even worse in this regard, but these are young men, and there's just no excuse for it outside of exhaustion, which is not what's going on because the next chance for selfish Roy Of The Rovers, there'll be maximum exertion... until the play breaks down, of course.

I honestly don't see what people see in Greenwood I thought Elanga out shown him today Elanga looks to have more about him. All Greenwood has got is head down, pace, cut inside and shoot. It's repetitive. Should've made it 3-0 when Villa was tired chasing the game and it was 2-vs-2 on the counter attack

he's so greedy and selfish. You need him to be more creative and have end product playing as a wide forward Cavani had no service again playing the graveyard shift. That's what Greenwood needs to develop his creativity or he won't become a top player

Saka and Bowen are ahead of him for me to go to the World Cup right now if it's based on form which is what it should be. Amongst other players.

Greenwood needs to buck up his ideas or he won't be going to the World Cup or fulfil his potential. Could be another Morrison who most people agree was more talented than Greenwood at one point. Greenwood needs to listen to people like Ronny and not think he's already made it and too big getting a chip on his shoulder.

2 times he had the chance to pass the ball to a player in a better position but as usual, he chose to take it by himself from a difficult position. I can see why players get frustrated with him. He should be improving his team play but for some reason he is not. Defensively, he left Digne eat Dalot alive multiple times.

Frustrating watching him play in such a selfish and immature way.

He has all the qualities to play this role in the team and be one of our best players, but his greed is costing us big time. Its not like he's not aware that the pass is on.

Still our best attacking player. The only one that can carry it around 1/2 players without losing it. Pretty press resistant, great touch, and can pass when he actually does. I do enjoy watching him play. I think he played well. Especially the first half, but he had greedy moments again. You can tell he's desperate for a goal. I think it's why he keeps shooting so much. Ideally, I would like to see him play as our #9, but that is not happening this season.

Elanga is and has always played as a winger, Greenwood is and has always played (until his senior appearances) as a striker through the middle - therefore I would be quite dissatisfied with Elanga if he didn’t perform better than Greenwood in his natural position.

Greenwood is so two footed that most don’t know which foot is his most natural. The club are limiting his impact by playing him as a wide right forward/winger to accommodate other big name strikers. He needs to be played up top/through the middle.

I must be the only one who doesn’t get frustrated with him in the slightest. Don’t mind a player that takes on shots, better that than passing responsibility. If I was him I’d look for a move away to be honest. He could be considered one of the worlds best elsewhere but this club is destroying any chance he has and frankly most of the fan base don’t deserve him either.

Our fanbase deserve Paul "he's our best player" Pogba. I remember lurking this forum and constantly reading "well Pogba he is our best player"

I wanted someone to hold my hand and tell me everything is going to be alright.

Now you have the "Ronnie is our best player" and his devoted follower Sonya dude roaming around praising him to God level while shitting on every other strikers especially Greenwood.

I just don’t think many fans have a clue how much of a players individual performance is down the team settup. The best players in the world don’t just magically perform, they play alongside the best teammates in the best systems. Their teams give them the platform to perform. Go into the Varane thread and there’s posters jumping in calling him average etc. Jump into the Cavani thread and hes washed up etc. Hell even Ronaldo is being criticised. I guarantee you that at City or Liverpool those very same players would be getting hailed as some of the best in the league. The system at Utd is shocking, the manager clearly doesn’t seem to have a grip on it and as a result all our players are underperforming. I just can’t work out why fans try to make individual player judgements in these moments.

Greenwood is young enough that if he gets out now he can still have a world class career, in a proper world class team/system. Martial is evidence that this current Utd is not the club to nurture talent that it once was.

It’s not difficult. Play the kid closer to goal. Only player we have that takes responsibility with the ball, doesn’t panic and doesn’t give it away cheaply. Wasted hugging touch lines. Fitness is my only criticism.
