Shaken off the second season syndrome blues — no thanks to the disgusting media and partially Gareth Southgate — and Money Mase is back.

Really don’t think he’s that far behind the other golden gold boys out there.

Having a fine end to a difficult season. Been hung out to dry by Southgate.

Weird take unless you're not an England fan. It will help his development if he goes. It hasn't harmed Phil Foden. It's hardly like he'll start anyway.
It’s not a weird take , literally no end of season break last season . He’s had a difficult season which could be down to it but finally finding a bit of form . A summer off would be great for him.

Super near post shot for his goal after turning Mings. Good run and shot from a tight angle that was saved into a dangerous area, in the first half. Another shot that was going wide that Rashford almost turned into a big chance. Gave the ball away cheaply in the build-up to their goal.

Yeah was a lovely goal. Not the cleanest of strikes but most keepers would expect him to shoot far side so i reckon that is what makes Martinez get there a half-second late.

for a young English player, being part of a very good that has a number of matches on home soil will be brilliant for his development. OGS has managed him well, he’s not in danger of burnout.

the Euros would be a big help in his career development.

We should be wanting our players to play in the biggest stage.

That is some achievement, considering Rooney played up front or behind Ruud

Hopefully Southgate sticks to his guns and doesn't pick him :smirk:

He's on the same level as them, in my opinion. He and Foden are class acts.

I cannot wait to see how good Greenwood's going to be at 23/24.

Another year, hopefully with Cavani as a team mate, and I think he'll be ready to lead the line. The lad is a striker and its a testament to his talent that he has done well out wide. Unlike Haaland (who is a physical beast) its normal for a lad like Mason to take some time to grow into the role.

His overall game is so good. The pass to play Pogba (when he kicked Traore) was class. His passing, dribbling is very good and his finishing is just exceptional.

Brilliant young player.

Indeed, I remember when Greenwood was going through his rough patch and people kept saying about how he'd never get on Haaland's level, and admittedly he might not, but Haaland's physicality is that of a 28 year old in his prime whereas Greenwood is still very obviously a teenager so they're bound to develop at different rates.

He wasn‘t in good form a few months ago, but has been really good for a while now. With Rashford‘s, Kane’s and Sterling‘s current form Southgate should really be selecting him.

His goal kind of shows exactly what he can be for us in the short term. He's improved so much on his ability on the ball that passing the ball to feet whilst he's in the box or just outside is a great idea. Unlike Martial, his finishing ability and the directness he's consistently able to bring to his shots make him a real threat. He still has to work on his movement, but again, I see him as more of a Van Persie, Harry Kane type than an Aguero or Cavani.

United fans have always had a weird thing about not wanting our players to play for their international teams, despite the fact that playing for national teams is probably more of a source of pride and passion for players than their club teams.

@GifLord

Can you please post the video of his long pass to Pogba. Around 35th mins (the sequence where Pogba kicked Traore).

I think dragging it near post across himself is something he does a lot and is a harder strike to hit clean. Sometimes I wish he'd go far post and get a better connection.

But at the same time as you say it's harder for the keepers to anticipate and get there.

101 appearances, 28 goals and only 19. Brilliant

I much prefer minutes played as a reference. I feel that appearances is too vague. Two players can play in 101 games, with one playing twice as many minutes as the other, yet the '101 appearances' doesn't allow for proper comparison.

3,075 minutes (eq. of 34 full matches), 16 goals, 3 assists in the Premier League
1250 minutes (eq. of 13 full matches), 6 goals, 2 assists in Europa
646 minutes (eq. of 7 full matches), 3 goals, 1 assist in FA Cup
212 minutes (eq. of 2 full matches), 1 goal, 2 assists in Champions League

Seen from a minutes per contribution perspective, his performance at 19 is even better than your original observation even, which is phenomenal.

Never in doubt. Hes struggled to get in the right positions a bit this season but leave him in space in the box like that and he doesnt miss.

It’s quite bizarre.

In this instance as well, Greenwood would come full circle and have reception for his issues in Iceland - that’s obviously a good thing.

I hate the ‘zero backlift’ line. It’s nonsense.

What’s actually happening is that he’s got the ability to hit the ball at any point, with both feet, in his natural running stride. The ‘backlift’ nonsense keeps cropping up. He has oodles of backlift, he’s just properly special and can use a standard stride to hit the ball hard, into a corner, routinely.

He’s going to be a proper player.

DVB was worse than what we anticipated, that's becoming clear. I think it was simply a flop signing that Ole hasn't allowed to hurt our play.

He’ll make 25 appearances next year and score/assist 10-15. He won’t be a flop.

Wait, I'm out of the loop, what happened again?
He was hardly hung out to dry, Southgate even said to the press that you have to take into account his young age. Him and Foden were both dropped. He then didn't do anywhere near enough to play himself back into the squad so he hasn't been recalled since. After his strong finish to the end of this season he might make it into the Euros squad.

I agree totally. Its simply that his form dipped. I think his chances are quite slim of making the Euros though really unless its in consideration of his potential versatility of being a third striker as well as playing both flanks. You would have to think Sancho, Foden, Grealish, Rashford and STerling rightly or wrongly would be considered ahead of him at the moment for the Euros

Assuming 8 forwards for four positions.

Sancho, Kane, Rashford, Sterling, Grealish, Foden, Mount, DCL.

I think DCL gets it because he could add something different but it maybe between Greenwood and DCL.

Greenwood rightly should not be included yet and it’s good for us too.

Great to see him score yet again and continuing to get his confidence back after that long drought.
Wasn‘t the best of shots, but it was a great goal all the same, for the turn and accuracy.
Played much better outfield as well today.
Far too often Mason has been patchy and too casual on the right, but he was very good this time out.

We’re all excited and confident Mason will become a great player, but I agree with a few other comments on here and with some of the TV pundits, that he’s got to improve his off the ball movement in the box and anticipate a lot more.
For all his great goal scoring ability, he currently lacks the predatory instinct that top strikers need.
Hopefully that can be coached into him, as he’s still young and developing physically.

There were a couple of times in the first half today, where Shaw and others got to the edge of the box, close to the byline to put a ball across the face of the goal, but neither Rashford or Greenwood were making any attempts to attack the space.
The Sky TV Commentator made the point that nobody was anticipating or making any runs at all. They were just static, standing still, just ball watching.
Lots of talk about learning from Cavani’s movement, etc, but there doesn’t appear to be any learning going on at all.
I honestly can’t ever see Rashford improving with this (it’d be great if he did though), but Mason could and should if he’s to reach his full potential.
