Wouldn’t believe all the rumours. I think there is certainly an agenda against him. I just hope he can keep his head down and get more game time....we need him for those goals which has dried up a little amongst the squad.

There's very little in the article in the Athletic. He was lethargic in training on Friday and called in sick Saturday. More than likely he was coming down with something on the Friday which took hold overnight. Then Orstein mentions a concern he's not getting enough sleep which could be affecting his immune system and goes on to talk about how lockdown can be a pain in the arse especially for young people and brings up the Iceland incident.

I think it's good he's not gone to play with England and hopefully, he's genuinely ill and will be back scoring goals after the international break.

Maybe should start playing less games eg. FIFA overnight, less stalking birds in insta, cutdown parties, eat more healthy food (diet), and none of the "cracks".

That said, it's possible he's under huge mental+emotional stress with all that's happening affecting his health and sleep. Basically in the process of "maturing" with all this huge limelight, pressure and things getting in his life, he didn't get it before so it's a lot to take and a lot to handle. Not everyone is Marcus Rashford, matured early but then he did have those short "stints" with Jesse. How is his social circle? hopefully he have good support and good role model to look up to. With all the stories leaking out, doesn't seem like he had one, or maybe he did but he chose to ignore the good advices given.

Sorry - did I just read Custis having a go at a journalist for being a twat?

What's next, Trump accusing someone of being a narcissistic arsehole?

Some bad rumours going round Manchester about him. I think they’re BS personally but theres a lot of negativity around him and the press are going to be on his back.

Just read he recently lost a close friend to suicide? Is that widely known?
That Athletic story us every bit as bad as the nonsense red tops pull.
Can't everybody just give him a break ffs?

His application during a match is lethargic too. When you look at the commitments of other players including Brandon Greenwood does hardly any work apart from when he is near the opposing penalty box. That is not due to his age. It is due to his commitment and application. Ole looked very pisses off with him when he answered about Greenwood at the post match.
He may have all the talent but without application and commitment you would end up like Ravel Morrison.

So hes a 19 year old that wanted to bang some broads in Iceland and now the media is gonna put a target on his back and basically ruin his reputation forever? Is that how it works?

That's absolutely not the truth. Mason has been quite decent in his defensive duties in most of his games, I mean he is not excellent at it yet, decent maybe, but to say that he shirks defensive duties is not at all true. On a different note, he needs to still improve tactically and in his movements up front, but as a 19 year old, he has plenty of time to improve himself.

Starting to think his behaviour is un-christian.

He still hasn’t actually started that many games, even though his talent is starting to demand starts. Possibly that is down to still developing his “team play” etc.

I don’t blame his attitude but he may be slow to assimilate what is being asked of him. Remember Shaw had that period where he couldn’t give Jose what he wanted?

I need to see him play from the start again to have a look at what he does over 90 mins, but I’m absolutely not expecting the finished article, the very notion is madness.

Greenwood's getting the full Sterling treatment now isn't he?

Made the same mistake as Foden and look at the difference

Every day another bull-shit story like this

I mean the difference could be that some of this is actually true / not far from the truth.

We just don't know.

We do know that Foden is back in the England squad and Mason isn't, so that alone would be enough ammunition to fuel a story or two.

The Athletic seems fairly reliable, in the context of sport reporting.

Greenwood hasn't played well this season. It may well be the natural inconsistency of a young player, but perhaps his mind is elsewhere or he is struggling to cope being in the spotlight.

He had a great start to his United career and hopefully that will continue but nothing is certain and we've seen before that talent alone isn't enough.

Check that article I posted, Fernandes is angry with Greenwood because he didn't run onto a training ground pass. I mean this is journalistic horse-shit of the highest order.

I wonder if they would attack him as much if he was white.

That's a tiny part of the article to be fair - the rest of it focuses on the same stuff we heard yesterday.

I mean if you actually boil it down, someone getting annoyed at someone over a pass in training, and this followed by "no exchange of words" is probably one of the most common things that will ever happen on a training ground.

Hard to say - the inclination is to say no - but i guess the difference between this and the Sterling reporting is that this (today and yesterday) is purely focused on Mason and his football

Orny doesn't talk unless he knows something.

Ornstein knows feck all since he moved to the athletic. Are we supposed go beleive someone is giving him a play by play report from Carrington. What's next? Greenwood left out of travelling squad after coming last in ping pong tournament?

The article literally focuses on the feeling Mason MIGHT not be getting enough sleep. The entire article is flimsy nonsense. If anything, The Bruno part resembles some kind of substance.

This whole obsession with Mason is just bizarre and full of crap.

Yes, he made a mistake. Yes, it may still be affecting him mentally. However, he'll get over it. He hasn't robbed a granny or anything.

Which is the stuff we heard yesterday - might be nonsense, might be something (even if embellished) - we literally have no idea.

What I would say on Mason is the one thing we do know he did this year is he definitely acted unprofessionally whilst on England duty. Therefore, if other stories of unprofessionalism come out, I don't think they can be immediately dismissed out-of-hand anymore then we can say they're definitely true - we just don't know.

Ultimately the best thing we can hope for is he just lets his football do the talking. Once he starts playing regularly and scoring goals this will hopefully go away.

British media are an absolute disgrace. Build them up just to knock them down.

I don't care what he has or hasn't done that it between United and himself.

Where is all this energy fro Foden for cheating on his girlfriend that he has a kid with.

The racial undertones never sit well with me.

Our fans could do a better job not getting on his case. The more this alleged dirty laundry is aired the worse it will be.

Honestly I'd have him go chat with sterling. He went from public enemy number 1 to the media to their darling.

There's been rumours he's been up all night playing video games. Just so happens to coincide with the launch of a rather popular game known as FIFA.

Let me preface this by saying I absolutely love him and I think he's by far our most talented player.

I do however think that we should be allowed to talk about him without it being some sort of sacrilege. You don't have to read the tabloids, you can just ignore them full stop. But if we only take into account what Ole says, it did seem a bit strange how he answered the question regarding his non-selection. He seemed a bit annoyed to me. An enormous match for Ole, who wanted to play his most trusted players in his most trusted formation, and he had to go with Mata on the right.

Either he's injured or he's not 100% mentally. If he's injured, what is the supposed injury?

I used to play the game as well up until late in the morning a couple of years ago. Ultimate team is pretty addicting. But i am cured, heard the game is still not great.

Maybe he is playing against/with Dembele all night.

This is all true but he works like 2 to 3 hrs a day. Plenty of hrs in the day to hammer FIFA without having to stay up all night. It is only a rumour as well.

There's no injury.

Mason is basically an 18-year old (now 19) millionaire. Seems like all this hype, fame and money got in his head a little. And there's nothing wrong with that, happens with most of them.
Plus after this incident in Iceland he has become an easy target. Moreover, he's not just another talented player, he's "the next big thing", so there's additional pressure.

No doubt in my mind that he will overcome these issues. Will be a good learning curve for him.

Past transfer window Ornstein got several transfers absolutely spot on even before Fabrizio. I wouldn't rule him out like any other Journalist. Ofcourse his sources are much much better when talking about London clubs than other clubs.

I remember when Ole first came here he said that Greenwood was the best natural finisher he had seen and people thought he was either mad or just talking him up to give him confidence. Turns out he was telling the truth.
That would be strange. I thought anyone who bothered to check out the academy players were desperately waiting for him to be selected to the first team. He was already winning awards at academy and scoring tons of goals, scoring with both feet.

I know the media did it with grealish but he was pissed trying to drive a car and it was just a few headlines and I think it was forgotten about or it felt like that. Grealish was out most nights at 17-18,
fair enough.

They just seem to be going after Greenwood, maybe it’s because he’s a man United player. Maybe they think let’s go after Mason, it will cause more of a stir. He’s black, the public will buy into it more, it’s more believable, subtle racism. There just doesn’t seem to be the same buzz around Foden.

Subtle racism exists everywhere. Slightly off topic but there was a movement that said we shouldn’t include names on CV’s when applying for jobs and I 100 percent agree with it, could make the media a lot more diverse.

Anyway, rambling on.
