According to Sky and various sources (F365 also)

Cannavaro said: “I think above all about signing players aged 28 or 29. Marouane Fellaini was offered to us.

“Marouane Fellaini was offered to us.

“But I told his agent that I am looking for a different type of player.”

Thoughts?

Rejected by a mid-table Chinese Super League team? That'll do wonders for his reputation on here.

Are the team that Cannavaro manage the only big team there? Seems like all links to players is entirely at that club.

Is Cannavaro doing all of these open discussions about transfer targets through the open window of a car, as is the accepted practice? If not, I'm not interested. Maybe he could put his own twist on it and do it through the open door of a mobile home: Fabio Caravanno.

I think the foreign players quota in China means his team are one of the only ones who can sign players without having to sell.

Leave the open car window stuff to Big 'Arry.

He was turned down by a Chinese club

Thats a very polite way of turning his nose up at Fellaini.

We're lucky they don't want a "decent squad player" who "puts in a shift" and can control a football with his chest. Not sure how we'd cope if such a unique talent were to leave us.

I guess they do not appreciate that the Flying Elbow can have a place alongside the Kung Fu greats like the Tiger Fist, Dragon Claw, Drunken Monkey Style and the Swift Snake Attack.

Cannavaro thinks he's gods gift. Unless some third party is paying him to come out and say he rejected multiple United players.

Yes. Every player in the world is being offered to Cannavaro's amazing team and he is saying no.

It is hard to believe someone who says variations on the same story every couple of weeks.

No doubt people will lap it up because it is Fellaini.

He's probably just answering questions put to him by journos.

Sadly he also seems to know the players' actual quality; could've done with a few chinese managers still being in charge. Or Sven.

Tbf it's not like he's said he's turned down good United players, it's only Fellaini and Rooney.

Alot of clubs have surplus players they want to get rid off.

Apparently nobody fits Cannavaro's style of play.

Is he some kind of visionary with some new style of play never seen before.

You'll think that they would appreciate a hardworking lad, whose good in air and whose....erm hardworking

You guys

Isn't the average height in China about 5"4?

Fellaini could score from every corner

True but how many managers keep coming out and saying this player and that player were offered to me? It is not common practice because it is not how you do business.

Either Cannavaro is making up shit for some reason he would only know or all the stories are true but he is a bit stupid. I'm leaning towards the former, tbh.

He also in the same article claimed that Oscar didn't move to China for the money. In other words, I wouldn't give too much credit to anything that comes out of his mouth.

Fellaini and Rooney? "Not shit football" is hardly revolutionary.

It's fairly simple what he's looking for.

A quick. two footed player with good technique and passing, can take a player on and finish, physically strong and good in the air, who can tackle and has a save pair of hands. Simple.

I doubt we would've sold him in Jan with Schneiderlin gone.

Has Cannavero even seen Fellaini taking the ball down on his chest. There'd be no better man to bring in and influence the next generation of young Chinese footballers on the long, lost art of controlling a ball on their chest.

Wonder which United player Cannavaro will talk about next.

Its a cultural thing. Italians tend to be more open in their negotiation deals. I lost count how many times Galliani had spilled the beans of what he's up to.

We had a taste of it ourselves when Moratti's sister spilled the beans about Mourinho's next club.

The man has plenty of money to spend and is not willing to do clubs any favours. Why should he get Fellaini or Rooney on ridiculous sums of money when there are better players available?

You guys are brutal. I feel bady for him really. Apart from his Penalty give away against Everton this season, I never cursed him.
