Fellaini was bad against Sevilla? That's got to be utter nonsense. Fellaini did his job to near perfection, winning several aerial balls and making sure that the 2nd balls got to the forwards.

The players are there to follow instructions, not try to achieve what fans think is a good performance. The Sevilla result was down to tactics, which is on the manager.

It was surprising him to see run Hart down and forcing him to kick it quickly.

Burnley is the kind of team that Fellaini excells against. They aren't quick on the ball, few tricky players, like to whip in a cross and score from set pieces.

Brilliant performance. Some of the fans on here never learn - this guy gives his all and is very effective whenever he plays.

Hes a credit to us. If he was here during a succesful spell hed be held in same high regard as park, butt, p Neville and others. Never a star but will run through walls and massively underrated in many ways. Calm simple passer, brings aggression we need and physically very taxing for opposition. The criticism is one thing, the hyperbolic hatred and scapegoating is best put on youtube

Showed for the first time how good he can be as a DM. Matic and him allowed our full backs and Pogba to get forward and attack without worrying about a counter. He cleared every ball sent into the box. Reminded me of Vidic (just the defensive headers).

Excellent today from the big tree.

He's perfect for nullifying a team like Burnley.

Surprisingly good touch as well.

I think he also covered up for Lindelof's weaknesses today. Had he not played the CB would have been more exposed.

Would be interesting to see him tested at CB. Can't be much worse than some of our options right now. He is quite good on the ball for someone with his stature and he is a monster at set pieces.

I doubt it, on another day he could not absorb the pressure and his tackles turns to rashes.

He got that tackling mistake in him, better stay where he is now.

The main reason that Fellaini receives such harsh criticism is because of the way managers use him and how it affects our overall playing style. If Fellaini had been used in this role from the beginning, I don't think he would have been such a hated figure here.

He has clearly been useful before this Burnley game. People crying we were keeping a player rather than letting him go for free was hilarious.

I hold my hands up, Ive been that guy on here saying, “ he should never be near a united team” “ he’s useless”, “ he’s an embarrassment to the club. I admit it, however what he did against Burnley was fantastic. Broke up there game, won 1st and 2nd balls and gave 110%. I wouldnt say I’m completely behind him now, but with performances like that, he certainly has earned his place in the squad.

Was solid yesterday and fully justified his inclusion. He also had a very good world cup playing in a deeper role,so hopefully he continues that with us this season. Would be a big boost to us if he can.

Him as DM worked against Burnley, we will see how he handles different type of teams, if JM persists with him as DM.

He was very good in the DM role yesterday, protected the back 4 and nullified Burnley's attacks. But i feel that he is an accident waiting to happen if we are keep on playing as a DM, especially when we are playing against a team which is quick on the ball. I like him as a player, he is a very useful tool for the manager to try something different when needed. But i think it's safer and more useful if we use him in an advanced role. Hopefully Jose won't use as a proper DM in the coming matches, especially against top teams.

Fair play to him, gets lots of criticism but played really well today. There was one instance where he hit a 40 yard pass too which was impressive, obviously grew in confidence.

As others have said, made a huge difference for the defence to have him as cover - good call from Jose.

8 times of 10 Fellaini does his job and performs to a very solid level. He has been a very reliable player for us, and doesn't get the credit he deserves.

He was fantastic. My one caveat is that the previous experiment with him in that position didn’t end well because he just didn’t have the defensive instincts and kept on failing to track midfield runners, which wasn’t an issue yesterday considering how badly Burnley played. Maybe he’s developing thos instincts. Maybe having a canny operator like Matic ahead of him makes life easier. Time will tell but I’d be lying if I said I’d expect a similarly watertight defensive performance up against teams willing/able to commit more numbers in attack.

The difference yesterday.

Forget your Pogba, forget your Herrera, forget your Fred.

It might not always be classy but Fellaini always steps up.

He has his weaknesses, but he has plenty of assets too. Overall a good option and squad player.

He has actually been rather good for us under Mourinho, hasn’t he? There had been issues with him mostly under Moyes who had absolutely zero idea how to use him despite having managed him for 3 or 4 years at Everton.

He’s not really a bad player and on his day he can be a force both in defense and offense. Still remember that 1-0 loss at Everton, think it was in Fergie’s last season, where Fellaini scored and absolutely killed us all over the pitch. He was like prime Yaya out there.

This. Fellaini shouldn’t play every single match, but the hate he gets here and on Twitter is ridiculous.

He excels in games like these. We should use him in this position in tricky away games like these. His passing was decent too today, which surprised me. Was a wall in defence and headed away so many balls in the box.

Fellaini is a squad player for us, he is great for opponents like Burnley. However, he should only ever really be starting against teams which play a similar style to Burnley. It is for the teams that play in the way that Burnley do that Fellaini is a genuine nightmare for.

Against teams which play a high press however, Fellaini should not be starting. I think it is acceptable though for him to be a sub for us, one who can change the dimensions of a game or help us defend a lead. A great example for "changing the dimensions of the game" is the European Supercup game last season. Real Madrid just couldn't deal with him, when he came on the game totally changed for the better for us. Unfortunately we still lost in the end.

tldr: Fellaini - Start him against park the bus teams, consider him as a bench option (sub) against teams that press up the pitch, he is like a tactical utility player for us, a player who can define our tactics for a game.

Yeah, I was on the bandwagon to sign him after that game against Everton. Hopefully he can deliver those level of performances more for us.

He is out of the Belgian squad with an injury. Let's hope he will be ready for us in two weeks !
