He's made one good pass, had one weak shot on goal, brained himself hard which was completely unnecessary as well as nasty in his usual manner and I don't know, is it because of his bloody sacrifice that people are getting so impressed?!

He challenged for a 50/50 header against Ramos, how was it nasty?

Hard to deny the fact Fellaini that Fellaini is a very useful player. He will always look like a clown with no technique, but he's a great physical presence, can score a goal and bully the opposition.

It was a 50/50 ball and there was no nastyness involved.

It was, because the only way with him being so close to Ramos, who blocked the ball, to hit it went with high risk of heads clash. That's just Marouane for you.

You name his pressing as one of the attributes, but don't you mention all those fouls that go along with it. The problem is that they are not necessary. Good intellignt player that knows what he's doing and controls himself would go with it smartly, not force the ref to whistle almost every single time.

maybe it's time for fans to accept our best midfield includes fellaini. 3 coaches have now accepted that.

When he was at Everton we could not cope with him

I've actually grown to appreciate what he brings. I think he's improved as a footballer too with Jose at the helm.

And how close was he to actually hitting that ball?
As close as Ramos was, hence it being a 50/50. No mention however from you of Ramos being nasty and thats because you have a preconceived bias and see what you want to see. It was not a nasty challenge, they went up for the ball at the same time and they both were committed to winning it.

And how close was he to actually hitting that ball?

Fellaini makes contact with the ball so I'd say pretty close. There's milliseconds in it either way, you made it sound as if he just nuts Ramos a few seconds after the fact

Yeah he should have watched Ramos clearing the ball away when Fellaini even headed the ball and goal kick was awarded to Madrid.

Give over, that's just ridiculous.

He's definitely improved leaps and bounds under Jose. However, I'd still ask the question of why we can find someone that does what elbows can do, as well as do the things elbows can't do. Yes he tries hard, yes he breaks up play, yes he's a pain in the box for the other team and gets a goal here and there, but he gives away fouls like santa gives away knee rides at Christmas. He has no real technical ability, he's there as nothing more than a link in a chain of passes.

So the question is, we have all this money. We have all this prestige, we have a world class manager and players but we can't get better than elbows?

Sign of our recent times when Fellaini is being touted as one of our best midfielders.

Quite embarrassing compared to other top teams. Always said it, always will no matter how half decent he does in a utd shirt, he should never have been signed, he will never be good enough for us. beggers belief how he gets game time. I'd rather play with 10 men

There arent many touting him as our best midfielder, most of us are simply saying he had a good game.

Oh dear...

In a 1 on 1 duel with Ramos no one will ever be the one doing something wrong. Ramos is the dirtiest footballer to ever walk this Earth.

Can't fault his fight and determination. If he had a modicum of skill to go with it he'd be a good player.

Yep. Only being deemed good enough because we keep lowering expectations. People are even now justifying these lowered expectations because 'you don't know what it takes to get back on top'.

He hit the ball and it went out. Can't get closer than that.

The ball hit Ramos' head first, then Fellaini's. Marouane knew what he was doing and there was no way he'd direct it towards goal. He didn't have to hammer Spaniard's head like that. You call it passion and I call it carelessness that's not really needed. He could have altered his action right there to not make a bloody mess of it.

What nastiness of Ramos are you talking about Stack? I don't care about him anyway cause he's not our player.

Such a simple concept/post, so hard for people to understand.

Passion? So is it even wrong to go for 50-50 duels? Maybe they should also introduce rule not to kick the ball very hard. It might hurt someone.

Weird isn't?

3 different coaches, 2 of them with years of experience handling the best squads in the World liked to have Fellaini in their team, yet some supporters are convinced that Marouane is obviously useless and getting rid of him should be the club's number one priority.

Yeah, slating him for going for an aerial ball is a new one here

Yes every ball in the air is a 50/50 in which you should commit 100% power. Alright.

There are many things you can use as a stick to beat him, not this embarrassing "he went for header" nonsense

You are talking complete and utter bollocks. Go watch this, unfortunately whoever uploaded it has done so vertically but got to 32 minutes. It was a clear 50/50 ball and fellaini clearly goes for the ball and it was fair for hi to go for it. If you think thats nasty then I cant help you.

Call me faint-hearted but I hate to see such powerful header hit another player's back head. Even when it affects one of the biggest cnuts in football like Ramos.

Again? I think that was our first time that we discussed.

Not comparing. You think Fellaini is our best player but then he doesn't deserve to play for us. So that means according to your logic the ones who played worse than Fellaini should be off as well. I just can't get the logic why the one who is called as "the best" has to receive an abuse and criticism.

Where did I say fellaini is our best player. I'm fact, that's what I have been campaign against. Just because he has a good game doesn't mean he is our best player..

That's as 50-50 as it can get. Fellaini had every right to challenge for the ball.

Not sure what your point is. Its very very clearly a 50/50 ball, he was fully entitled to go for it. He is also running and jumping in the same direction as the flight of the ball. If you play then you will know those are exactly the balls you attack. If he had of pulled out of that especially given that there were only centimetres of difference in who gets the ball he would have been subbed off for not having a go. His intention clearly wasnt to hurt Ramos and he clearly was going for the ball. Its an absolute 50/50, its not clumsy its so close its simply an unfortunate collision between 2 committed players.
Do you understand what a 50/50 ball is? The difference between winning the ball here is mere milliseconds worth. Your assertion its nasty is ludicrous and cringe worthy.

I don't understand why people are saying that it's his fault we got outplayed by Madrid when he didn't even start. It was Herrera and Pogba that got outplayed in midfield and because of that we had to go to plan b and put Fellaini on as a target man so we could play long balls over their midfield.
If Herrera and Pogba had been good enough there wouldn't have been a need to put Fellaini on in the first place but they weren't.
They had nothing to put up against the Madrid midfield and those two are the ones that should be blamed, not Fellaini.

He came on as a plan b and executed his role perfectly. Until we get midfielders who can compete with the best consistently we have to accept that we need a player like Fellaini to come on and change the game when nothing else is working. So stop blaming Fellaini when he spends most of the games on the bench and start looking at the players who are actually playing because they are the main reason why we haven't been good enough.

You mean in general? I dont agree then. He had too many really poor games for us. Now he had some good games, fair enough and he deserves his place in the squad. But that does not make him a better player

For years now he's been havin decent and good games with the odd stinker here and there

Again comparing fella to pogba, Herrera, martial, matic, lukaku , mkhi is a joke . They all are far better footballers.

It doesn't matter how superior they are in terms of talent if they're not fully using/displaying it on the pitch. Pogba Herrera started and couldn't cope.

If it's such an awesome opportunity waiting there to be captured then why with Fellaini's arms on Ramos' back the ball did hit Ramos' head first and Fellaini had head clashed just before that? Also why hasn't he directed the ball anywhere close to goal?
I'm not saying he shouldn't have jumped right there, though he should have done it differently altogether. Less power, sweeping head movement, more in air fight for a better position. Fellaini's thinking was like "I'll go for it foolhardy no matter the obstacles ahead" and the crowd loves it including the aftereffects, don't they?

50/50 means it can go either way. Fellaini couldn't have directed the ball towards goal without fouling Ramos so in my book it's not such case.
