I'm not enraptured by his style, but he was fantastic tonight. Overall I'd say he's improved this season with Jose's trust.
I'll give it to him - he's got guts, and never hides even if he's doing badly, and that deserves respect. Happy for him.

He was great. You cant expect him to be someone he isnt. He left everything on the pitch and really bossed them. Well done Marouane, he isnt the most creative footballer, but has a great heart.

I've got to be honest, after he conceded that penalty right after coming on as sub against Everton I'd gladly have seen him sold, but I've always admired his overall attitude and resilience. I've never felt he wasn't trying his best. Delighted to see him prove me wrong and show he can still play an effective part here.

Absolutely thrilled for the big guy. It must take so much mental strength to rise up to the occasion despite all the negativity hurled at him. Great heart. Great strength. Great performance. Definitely Man of The Match. Respect.

What a beast, what a fighter. I've said before he doesn't offer enough to be in our starting eleven, and I would say I'm sometimes right. But after today, I think Fellaini has truly earned his spot in the squad. We can still find a better player to replace him, but I think if our attackers are better, we wouldn't have to rely so much on him to make the magic happen. And when that is the case, I'll gladly see him start every match.

Brilliant performance from him tonight. Exactly what we needed and he won EVERYTHING.

Deserves respect for getting us into the final too. Hero.

Chuffed for him. Played immense and capped off a great trio of seasons for him that he can be thoroughly proud of. One of our best big game players and has a cabinet of medals now to show for it. For somebody who has been regularly derided by his own clubs fans and even outright booed by them on more than one occasion and come back and given his all for the club, he is one hundred percent a Manchester United player. Proudly representing our amazing club.

There are a few things to like about Fellaini. He's another attacking outlet and the ball tends to stick when you don't get an overly fussy ref and defensively he does well also. There's no issue with him, I just feel he's suffered for our lack of quality in other areas.

Brilliant performance, I said before the match Fellaini should play because Ajax is the sort of opponent he can thrive against. They didn't like to get too physical and Fellaini bullied them

I'm sure he only deserved half the fouls he's given away, and the same with cards.

Ander too, to be honest, picked up a lot of very soft cards.
I felt that with Rafael too, a player that the refs loved booking.

When he pushed further forward in the second half some of his hold up play and lay offs (especially with head and chest) was outstanding. brought other into play brilliantly. I don't think hes ultimately the answer but as a horses for courses player he has to be in a match day squad and I'd think he's the sort of player who would be happy with being a valuable squad player at a place like United. Not one to spit his dummy out if he's not selected.

This little fcker lessened SAF's and United's trophy cabinet by giving away a silly foul against B Munich in the 2010 CHL semi-finals. And he deserved both of the cards in that game.

I will never forgive him.
Never!

Generally he gave away silly fouls.

Get a grip. He was a kid.

I feel like he did at the start of his career and then he got stereotyped after he cut it out to an extent, anyway that's a discussion for a different thread.

He was very good last night. Mourinho loves him, he's appeared in more games for us this season than any other season.

Absolutely chuffed for Fellaini. To go out and have a game like he had in our biggest game for quite some time must make him feel like hes proved his worth to any United fans who doubted him. Love or hate his style, he doest it bloody well when utilised properly. Man of the match last night for me, Viva Fellaini!

Not ashamed to admit that I am a fan of the guy.

Its not that he's the best footballer out there(He isn't), but the mental toughness that he has displayed time and time again at this club is just amazing. In a period when we have questioned the mentality of some of our squad, he stands up when it counts.

He's chipped in with invaluable contributions over a the last few years:

- Goal to take us back in the UCL under LVG
- Goal in the FA cup QF and SFs.
- Goal to basically seal qualification for the UCL group stages.

And big game perfomances in other matches.

Here's to you Marouane!

I've said it before - he gives us that 'other option' that most other teams don't have. OK so he isn't pretty to watch but no-one can knock the lads attitude. There are many others who need to be shown the door before him.

Source please.

According to wikipedia, he was born and not everexisting. Then, he became a kid and then he became a professor.

Still can't find any information on whether or not he played for Manchester United.
Maybe you are right.

Another solid and fully committed display. All in all he's had his best season for us I reckon.

I just hope we don't sell him. I just don't like the thought of selling players who have performed when asked to and are responsible for the clubs good fortunes. We will reap the benefits of qualifying directly for the CL and Fellaini has played a crucial role in getting us this advantage, so putting him up for sale would not be correct.

He deserves an opportunity for being in the squad for the next year at least.

He has done so much for us, scoring crucial goals, performing even when our own fans jeered him, never complaining about game time, position etc. He performances will be even better next season, if we get the right players and he can focus on a specific role and won't have to fill in for multiple positions.

MOTM deservedly, perfect performance, his best game of the season.

 Not really a fan, but Fellaini is a rare kind of player isn't he, not just his physical attributes and limited football specialties, but more so of his mentality and attitude.

Glad he's here, good options to have tactically.

He did well last night but for most games where we want to dominate and play proper, quick football, he's just the wrong player

I really do think Fellaini can be a very effective player if used correctly

We know he doesn't have the ground speed to press opponents but Ander can do that

We know he doesn't have much of a passing range but Pogba can do that

Fellaini actually very rarely takes a false touch or loses the ball under pressure. Also wins lots of loose balls and there is the obvious advantage of his aerial strength. I think there is definitely a place for him in the squad next year

Gary Neville was also a kid at some time in his career.
Yeah and Robbie Fowler bullied him off the ball to score in cantona's comeback game he wasn't flawless.

About Fellaini it just shows the mental strength he has cause lets be fair he's hardly the fans favourite but he always gives his all is a great option and definitely not one of our most pressing concerns regarding players to move on if anything I think mourinho really likes him so we will be seeing alot more of him, the ref last night helped aswell the amount of time he gets penalised for petty fouls where if it was a lesser know player it would be ok is really annoying.

It allows us to completely bypass any high press and transition the team forward really fast when we play with him. You could clearly see that yesterday. It gives us a chance to start our build-up directly from the halfway line and also gives time for everyone to take his position. I think that's the general idea when we play with him. It's not just that he's tall and wins headers - the important thing is that he can actually control those high balls, bring them down and pass it safely. Lots of players are better at heading the ball but that's not really what we want from him.

Yes and thats why he should have an offensive role. He shouldn't have an purely defensive role as he did earlier this season.

I thought his pressing of opposition ball carriers all the way through the game led to a lot of poor passes which we then won. I thought that was what the best part of his game was against Ajax, his constant shutting down of space and pressing players so they moved the ball under pressure. That pressure directly led to Ajax often losing possession.

Yeah I do know what you mean, he can get about the opposition but the point I was making is he isn't a Herrera/Kante type player who will press the opposition high

More of a 'low block'/shield type of holding midfielder

I think tbf to Maroune IF we had signed an unknown player from Spain or Italy who had performed as Maroune had this year we would have been fairly pleased. Problem is he will always have that Everton and Moyes history hanging around his neck

He's been a very good signing for us, he's had to prove himself in every game that he's picked to start since being at the club, unlike other club favorite players who get a bit of leeway. Unfortunately, he had become some symbol of post-Fergie decline but he's done everything he possibly can to get us back up there by delivering at key moments.

Wasn't helped initially by cowardly management by Moyes who signed him and didn't even play him in his best way but he's a very effective player when used properly. Hope he stays next season. All in all, a very solid season from the Big Man!
