No top club or manager would persist with a player like Fellaini, period. especially not the ones with history and traditions of playing in a certain way. Jose should know that to the fans, how we play is just as important as results. Look at how Liverpool and City played last night for christ sake, they were absolutely delightful.

They were delightful for a neutral, if our defence made as many errors yesterday and played as poorly in the middle of the park (as City did), they'd get torn to shit here.

What are you guys talking about, it is simply baffling...

He was an integral part of United's redemption in LVG's first season where United finished strongly, beat Tottenham, Liverpool and City and finished in Top 4. Almost all our attacks were being started with DeGea directly playing to Fellaini and VanGaal himself said that he is doing every thing right and he can not drop him. He also scored some vital goals in that time period.

You guys have such a short memory, don't slate him just because you don't like him. He is a weapon if used Properly.

He was very close in signing with napoli. We pulled the plug because they wanted him on loan + minimum fee + us paying all his salary

That's nonsense. Saying "period" after some completely speculative and far from factual statement is kind of annoying, too.

They pull apart their own players just as much as our 'fans'.

Other than the fact that we have had many, many, many players worse than Feli over the years who didn't get half as much stick (because of who bought him and the decline of United post Fergie).

Feel free to support City or Liverpool though ya yap. I'm sure it'd be absolutely delightful.
First of all, I just want to say I'd never support any club other than Manchester United. United to me is more than just a club I support.
Second of all, were you entertained by yesterday's game? I know I wasn't. And why do you think Manchester United is the most supported club in the world?

I thought given how many games we've played of late and our suspension/injury issues it was good for 60 odd minutes. We created 5/6 good chances, controlled the game and scored twice. Feli was tidy in possession, scored and was a presence defensively.

United are the most supported club in the world because they have won the most (in England) and marketed themselves the best, not because 'Attack, Attack, Attack' unfortunately. What comes along with that is lots of people who have never supported anything other than a side constantly winning, who then have to yap incessantly when a second string squad gets a vital win because they didn't feel suitably entertained.

As if that never happened under Fergie.

I really appreciate wins like this, Ibra scoring loads is great but to see a much maligned player like Feli and a local lad like Jesse score two good goals, as well as a great assist by veteran Ashley Young and the most Valencia goal I can imagine is lovely.

He's great against Championship sides isn't he?

He also injured himself which stopped the transfer iirc.

LVG and Jose are top managers, United is a top club and we still persist with him.

I've felt for ages that Fellini gets too much criticism. I remember AF saying he was a real handful and I'm sure there was rumours about him coming here before he retired. He had a shoulder injury when he did arrive and it was a while before he was fully fit even though he played some matches. He'll never be a Cantona but he has scored vital goals for us, he's also made mistakes like everyone else. A wholehearted team player. The problem is far too many chances have been missed.

It was quite refreshing seeing him how for the past few games he's been asking for the ball constantly, getting himself open for the teammates to pass it to him and overall being comfortable on the ball.

Goal was just a "cherry on top" for the very good performance he's put in.

When he ends up back at a midtable side this summer or next, will everyone singing his praises then be able to clearly see that Man United looks like the outlier, sandwiched between Everton and say Stoke or West Brom?

I think that Fellaini had been discussed to the exhaustion in here. Here are my thoughts

a- Fellaini can be a decent no 10, in a team that plays direct football. Defences are shifting away from the two 6ft3 CBs in favour to at least 1 ball playing defender. Therefore its becoming difficult for them to mark an old fashioned AMc player like Fellaini
b- He’s not a DM. He lacks discipline, pace or positioning to play in the role
c- It was stupid for us to spend 30m on him. That money is now gone but we’re probably still paying him as a 30m panic buy. If that’s the case, then it’s not worth keeping him. No squad player should be paid that obscene salary
d- Same thing can be said to other players as well. People like Young for example
e- If we are able to find a buyer then we should sell. If not, well, we might as well use him. It won’t be easy to sell him since he’s a very limited player. However we’re better off treating him right then end up burning bridges with him like we did with the German ex player in midfield.

Marouane Fellaini and a new-found discipline
Goals in three different competitions in 2017, so there.

Sarcasm aside, there is a positive development within Fellaini’s game. In 702 minutes up to the 1-1 draw at Goodison Park in December, Fellaini conceded 20 fouls and was booked six times in the league. You may remember him giving away the penalty that cost Manchester United two points against Everton, and being rightly lambasted for doing so.

In 288 league minutes since, Fellaini has conceded just five fouls. More impressively, the Belgian has not been booked in any of his last 21 matches in all competitions. Turned over a new leaf?

I like when Fellaini scores. Its then amusing watching people give out despite him scoring. Its even better when Lingard does the same in the same game.

i realy am glad he is still here he is like a "Ignore Idiot" function mention his name and ignore them in one place ;)

some people in here and in the fan base make it almost hard to like UTD some of the All or Nothing attitude to players, staff is disgusting.

you are not UTD fans you are fair weather fans that realy would be better if you found a new club to "slag off"support.

He is a Man Utd Player so how about you act like it and show the man some respect as he has shown more balls, grit, determination than any one else in this team, you try playing when your own fans boo you just for doing your job.

Sir Mat would turn in his grave over how small minded the fans are now.

oh just so you know Utd history is also littered by players who were never stars in the team but showed balls when it matters. Ole ;)

Left in a car from the Riverside by himself. Clearly doesn't get on with everyone else and frozen out by Jose.

*tongue in cheek

Its not his fault he's not a real midfielder, a position Jose insists on playing him in; Moyes at Everton then LVG circa 14/15 played to his strengths and he was hugely effective, more interested and dominant when contending high balls than mercenary Zlatan is, despite being the same size.

Up front he's like a Heskey-type; fanboys hate him but teammates and managers appreciate what his personal sacrifices facilitate for them. Same applies to Welbeck.

They were delightful for a neutral, if our defence made as many errors yesterday and played as poorly in the middle of the park (as City did), they'd get torn to shit here.

Exactly, neither team will be winning anything because of their moronic neglect of defensive work on the training ground. Conte's going to be the fourth Italian to win the Premier League; its glaringly obvious that a degree of pragmatism is key to winning in England.

Klopp and Pep are a pair of dogmatists who haven't adapted to the reality that their current squads simply aren't as talented as the ones they were blessed with previously; they instead join Wenger in competing for the annual 'but we play football the right way' award.

Sir Alex always prioritised a strong defensive platform upon which to build his teams, and balanced both elements perfectly. In the big domestic games or Europe, he was never too proud to play Park and Fletcher to get the job done.

I respect Jose more than those two because he's won in different environments, with different systems, but ultimately I find even his methods and antics a bit dated now; Pocchettino has revamped Tottenham to the extent they now parallel United's squad of the early 90's, on the cusp of a dynasty, while another one I think could build something special here would be Frank De Boer, who embraces LVG's solidarity while implementing a less rigid attacking ideology, with direct wide players and a metronomic midfield. I feel both would be better fits for the club moving forward.

With all due respect but Ole was much much better then Fellaini.

Yes he was but then again Ronaldo was better than Ole so does this mean we should hate Ole now?

No, Im only highlighting the stupidity in mentioning Ole in line with Fellaini. The latter is closer to Djemba*2 then Ole.

And no one hates Fellaini. We're not in 3rd grade. Some think he's not good enough to play for us and wish him out.

I will give him for free. Never I've hated a Manchester United player this much. Poor fellow but he has a footballing brain of a 1 year old, pace of a snail. The only thing he is the best is elbowing and fouling. Please let this be true.
I hate him.
I fecking hate him so much
I think I actually hate him.
I just said the same. I hate myself for saying it, but I hate Fellaini. He's an accident not waiting to happen but who has already happened.

Mata must be sitting on the bench praying he gets transferred.

I'm so bloody angry!
i hate this guy. Knew he would feck up the minute he was brought on.
Always hated this guy. Feckin hell what are his footballing attributes? I see none. Sell immediately
I actually hate this man. This is his 4th season with us. That is disgusting. No other top side would sign him, let alone have him stink the place out for 4 years.

I'd never do it, but I do think he'll get booed if he plays at Old Trafford again. I wouldn't do it, but I wouldn't care if he did.

Its a figure of speech towards a player that they don't like and they wish him out. If you meet these people and you ask them who they truly hate, I doubt they would name Fellaini or any other United player.

 me too.. make me laugh everytime I read their posts in this and Lingard thread.
I think he's scored 8 league goals (6 in 1 season)and assisted 0 league goals for us. That's over nearly 4 seasons now, so you're not laughing too often.

Still funny though. Plus theres a few cup goals and European goals to add in as well.

Ruled out for Belgium's game on Tuesday with a toe injury. No clue how serious it is.

Martinez wants to see the rest of the selected players, because this friendly game is one of the few opportunities to give himself an idea of the strength and readiness of the other players.
'In se' Fellaini isn't injured at all.
