Marcus Rashford (out)

I mean it's possible due to the talks with the Italian clubs that he may have informed someone if Arsenal were interested.
Yeah but I dont see that as hugely credible, all of a sudden its grapevine talk. I think if there was genuine interest from a PL club it comes from a PL centric journalist who has links with either club directly.

I'm not commenting on the likelihood of that occurring simply that it was plausible on some level.

When you said 'called it' it just appeared otherwise.

But yes Rashford to Arsenal is plausible, as is Rashford to about 10 other clubs.

Called it

If true it’d be an interesting move for all concerned. You’d hope the fee would be closer to 30 million but it’d be tempting. I think most fans would be fine with it and wish him well.

I could see him doing well there for a season and then going back to old habits. The Arsenal home fans would get on his back a lot quicker than United fans at OT if that happened.

21 million is not a bad starting bid, if true. We need to do this deal.

I’d sell him to Arsenal. He’d do well there for a while but he isn’t the answer to their striker needs.
If we are selling him to a PL club though it’s gotta be well more than £21m. I wouldn’t sell him to them for less than £40m because it does strengthen them and his wages are less of a concern than they would be to say Milan.

We probably have to take less of a fee to get teams to take on all of his wage.
Why should we care about his wage? We are not talking here about 33, 34 old player who is perfectly happy to sit out his contract. We are talking about player in his prime who still has a lot of ambition (i guess). His wage is his problem as much as ours.

If he wants to play football he must lower his wage demands. As much we need to sell him he also wants to leave.
50 mil fee should be a bare minimum.

How much of a pay cut would he have to take at Arsenal? I doubt they are handing out contracts bigger than 100k a week

And I was talking about that post being a response to yours.. We can move on :)
Rashford to Arsenal has always been plausible. Hence why I said it before.

You specifically commented on the plausibility of an Italian source knowing about interest, I don't see what you are getting confused about.

Is it really though? All things considered (wages being the main thing), I don't see anyone paying much more. We may get McT money, if we're very lucky.
How much is left on his contract? 3.5 years left on 325-350k a week is a lot of money in itself even without taking the fee into account.

I think 20-30 Million you snap someone's hand off.

If only that were true. He has a contract worth ~50million and he's entitled to every penny of it.

What is not true there? If he wants to stay (with playing every 10th game) then yes, we must pay him every single euro.
Bit if he doesn't want that then he must adapt. Same as us. Why we should take all the hit? We can lower slightly our fee demands and he can lower his wage demands.
Is he prepared to be bench warmer for next 3 years? I don't think so.

At the end it is situation who wants it more; we to sell him or him wanting to leave?

For how much would a player like him leave in todays market under normal circumstances? 60m for sure - so to deduct 60% of that despite wages and we wanting to sell seems a bit much

We're not going to get that much. I'd snatch their hands off at 25.

What do you mean by "a player like him"?

He's shit, hence we're getting rid of him

the wages are the clubs responsibility

we've been in this position a bunch of times and players very very rarely take much of a pay-cut

the ones that do are motivated and hungry to succeed

so yeah... Rashford isn't gonna help us out one bit. He's already in decline. If he doesn't get the same pay he's going no where

My ideal scenario is we send him to Italy on loan without an obligation to buy and he goes there and bangs in the goals and gives a shot at getting a bigger fee in the summer from both Serie A and Premier League clubs.

Andycoleno9 nailed it. His wages are not our problem. If he wants a new challenge elsewhere he's going to have to accept a wage reduction and it's up to the buying club to sell him on their "project" and convince him to take lesser wages. We should not have to take a lesser fee so the buying club can try to bridge the gap on his wages there vs here.

We should not be selling him on the cheap. We should not be open to selling Marcus Rashford for a fee similar to what Liverpool are demanding for some kid whose never played in the Premier League.

Are they on 300-350k a week? I think not.
The point is that high wages would not justify a 60% drop. We should aim for 35-40m at least imo. He is still a big name in football so I'd be pissed if the club give him away for only 20m

Potential? He's fecking 27
Potential to play better again than he did this season. Or would you say he's been mediocre all his career? There used to be a very good player in him some time ago, so there is potential that he finds a bit of form again at another club. Hence he's worth more than 20m
