Marcus Rashford (out)

You gotta just ignore anyone saying Rashford is worth 20 million. They just hate him.
What would YOU say he's worth, factoring in that he's on extremely high wages which most buyers would not get close to matching.

I don't "hate him" but I think a lowish fee like 20m would be realistic so that the buyer would be able to save on transfer fee to pay higher wages.

Agent: Marcus, Como have come in. Three clubs from Saudi, they'll rock, paper, scissor which one. And a club in Seattle, I forget what they're called.

Marcus MBE: Real, Barca?

Agent: Spurs?

Wow can't actually believe this might happen if the face-to-face talks are true.

Sad it has come to this but it has to be done. Really thought he would reach Nani-levels or more after that 19-20 season.

It was pretty obvious it was happening when his immediate reaction to not being in the squad for one match day was to call in sick and then talk to the press about being ready for something new, no? No way was the relationship coming back from there.

The question was not if he goes, but where and how much United can get out of it.

Considering how the club has been run post Fergie and the fact he's our most 'successful' youth graduate during that time, this is pretty much unprecedented. As I said, it's has to be done and I'm glad because Amorim/the board finally has the balls to make a big decision like this but it's far from a routine response based on our history in the last decade.

We'v kind of gone around in circles here. If Rashford doesn't want to take a pay cut then he's well within his rights to stay and get paid, but you don't get to claim you're desperate to leave and earn a place in the England squad then refuse to take one.

He can't have it both ways.

Como is perfect for him. Go chill somewhere pretty, trendy lifestyle, supermodels and celebrities everywhere and he can still run around for a bit on the weekends.

Why would United pay part of Rashford's wages? If he's really on 325000 pr week then that is madness, but alas. If Milan only wants to pay half and Como offers full wages, but Rashford only wants Milan, then tell him to drop half his wages or go to Como - are the owner club without any power in such loan deals? If he wants a loan, then let him go, but United won't pay his wages for that deal. If not, he can rot on the bench with the statement that he made. His statement already made his price go down.

Will the lack of suitors be a wake-up call? I hope he's open to a Saudi move TBH. At least he'd get big money and an easy life there.

The wake up call should have come years ago. Its too late now, get rid.

It is par for the team

Casemiro 350k
Bruno 300k
Rashford 300k
Mount 250k
Antony 200k
De Ligt 195k
Maguire 190k
Eriksen 150k
Shaw 150k

This mismanagement is what is wrong with this club ever since Gill left.

Who else was going to pay Antony 200k a week when we signed him?
Same for Eriksen who didn't know a year ago before signing if he was going to play football anymore health wise.
150k for Shaw who is injured for half the season.
350k for Casemiro. Yes great player at Madrid but who else pays those wages + the transfer fee?
250k for Mount + 50/55 whatever million pounds transfer fee
300k for Rashford when Mane was giving twice as much at Liverpool for half the pay

The answer to the above is no one, which begs the question. What in the actual feck were our management team thinking when giving out those contracts to these players? Do they not do any benchmarking with other top clubs or check scenarios of what other clubs would pay for these players??

He's had talks with Milan, Juventus, Dortmund. So big clubs have shown an interest in him.

Also - I doubt he's the one pushing for the move the most. The club is. The interview quote was in response to being asked about United wanting to move him on.

2nd and 3rd tier big clubs.

It’s sad that it is ending like this. He’s 13th on the club’s all time goal scoring list, just 12 behind Ruud for a top 10 spot. Being in the prime of his career, he should be looking to end up top 5, be the standard setter and retire as a one club man.

Christ. In what way did he not reach Nani levels?

That's insane.
Otto Von Bismarck once described the Italy as having a large appetite and rotten teeth. That was down to Italy's ambition to constantly wanting to grab more land despite lacking the army to do so. I guess if Von Bismarck lived today then he'd extend the same quote to the Serie A

They haven't shown an interest in him for even 50% of the fees and wages.

I'm always amazed by it, especially with regards to new signings. I mean how did those negotiations with Antony's agent go that we have him so much money?

Did we really think he or the others you've listed would say no to 30-50k less? I refuse to believe Antony wouldn't have joined us if we'd have stuck to 120k.

He certainly did, but I wouldn't say he upheld that standard for and extended period
Neither did Nani. In fact one of the worst people parts of Nani’s game was consistency. If people got annoying with Rashford running into defenders and losing the ball…

It’s a silly comparison anyway. Nani was playing under the best manager in history with some of the best teams this club has ever produced. He was never expected to lead the team. Rashford has had god knows how many managers and the team has generally been shite.

Nani was game to game inconsistent I thought, not being terrible for whole seasons. Debatable of course which one is better

Don’t be silly, it was a pre-planned interview and he went to far lengths to explain it in detail. It wasn’t an interview quote, it was a piece on him being ready for the next step. There was absolutely no need to do it, no matter how you want to spin it.

It’s Rashford and his advisors trying to get ahead of the reports of United looking to sell him, and it’s not the first time. Like when they claimed the «phone hasn’t stopped ringing» when he was in negotiations for a new contract, with claims that PSG and Barcelona were looking to sign him. The difference being that he was actually performing at the time

I don’t particularly want to shit on Nani but he definitely did have ineffective seasons. By the time he was the age Rashford is now, he could only get a loan to Sporting and we had to subsidise his wages heavily.

You really can’t ignore how much better it is for a player to have a consistent manager and team.

Of course they have, zero upfront and probably get United to pay most of his wages. It's a very low risk gamble. Italian clubs have been doing it for years with a variety of United players.

An unproven Dalot was at AC Milan after he couldn't get a place in the United first team.

If he was half the player people tell us he is on here there'd be no problem selling him, at the moment the club can't even get an obligation to buy.

I do agree that it's the club forcing him out. The guy was living in a dosser's paradise, crazy salary with zero commitment.

Nani is twice the player Rashford ever was.
Yes, but is he batman by night and is working on solving world hunger like top man Rashford?

EXCLUSIVE: Whilst Rashford was giving a homeless man £1,000 wrapped in gold leaf, he turned to a journalist, who just happened to be there and said Rashford PR McAwesome might be going to Italy, but it's not for the money! Although I'll only accept lesser wages if United top them up. Purely so he can use the difference to improve his image keep solving world hunger.

I completely forgot about that. Very fair point
