Marcus Rashford (out)

Which is fine if you’re signing Rudiger or Mbappe, you expect a big signing on fee, wages etc to compensate for the lack of fee. But this was a player who nobody apart from Brentford was prepared to go near. I can’t imagine he was on anything higher than 50k at Brentford, would 75k not have done the trick?
He had a fantastic 2nd half of the season so probably had a number of suitors; also, Richard Arnold.

At the time all the noise was either him coming to us or signing a new deal at Brentford, I don’t remember anyone else being involved.

I’m glad our penny pinching is so public, it should stop agents taking us for a ride. They clearly have done in the past.

It is par for the team

Casemiro 350k
Bruno 300k
Rashford 300k
Mount 250k
Antony 200k
De Ligt 195k
Maguire 190k
Eriksen 150k
Shaw 150k
Wow! The funniest thing is that none of these players are reliable and consistent. None of them deserves those amount. We really need a clear out. This time around we need to get it right. Get the right players in please

A cursory search suggests Newcastle and Everton were the only other teams to show genuine interest.

Those big spenders Everton and Newcastle. We need to start calling agents bluff a bit more, especially with those second tier signings. There’s no way he’d have been offered 100k+ by any of these other parties.

Newcastle maybe, they'd been sold to Saudi the year before. It's ridiculously excessive either way.

Clubs not willing to pay more than half his wage doesn't really bound well for a summer move does it.

We seem to be the masters in terrible loan deals, so sure we'll find a way of getting him out this month, but no idea what happens to him long term.

This is like bleach in the eyes. I love Bruno and I can't believe that wage. The others. :o
Wasn't this to be expected? I think he was on 240k before and wanted to be up there with the highest earners. I hoped that we managed to stay below 300k but apparently...Think this was the main point of why this new contract was met with such ambivalence.

Will the lack of suitors be a wake-up call? I hope he's open to a Saudi move TBH. At least he'd get big money and an easy life there.

Di Marzio just said on television that Como strongly want him and are ready to make an offer.. Soon the tweet I guess

Here we go:

 The Fabregas club? They’re 16th in the league. Do they have lots of money, or something?

 oh mate.

Reminds me of Danny Rose speaking to Levy in that documentary, thinking AC Milan were after him when it was just mid table clubs.

Well their owners (Hartono brothers) are the 17th richest family in the world as per Bloomberg with 47 billion dollars so they shouldn't have much problems to pay his salary in one way or another..
He and Manchester United would never accept though I guess.. If he doesn't perform well for Serie A 16th placed team his value would hit the bottom.

Bet when he was doing that interview he was anticipating all the elite European clubs banging down Uniteds door to sign him

Well they could just cut out all this loan crap and buy him instead, and then we can all just be done with it.

Seeing that actually makes me feel physically sick, we’re such a fecking joke with how we’re run at the very top with the clubs money.

I’m not against Fernandes being our top earner but even he’s massively overpaid for how inconsistent he is whilst Casemiro, Rashford, Mount and Antony should all have a fecking 0 taken off their wages.

Aruba, Jamaica, ooh I wanna take ya
Bermuda, Bahama come on pretty mama
Key Largo, Montego, baby why don’t we go?

Marcus go grab your keys,
It’s time to fly straight to Como.

Como is a beautiful place.

In his situation, heading somewhere like there for 6 months might not be a bad idea. Change of scenery, he could maybe relax a bit more and stay out of the limelight for a bit. Just work on getting his shit together, focus on his football and figure out what to do next.

Playing devil's advocate I can see why Rashford lost his mojo. Or at least why he has lost faith in Utd. To set up Rashford to be successful he needs to be firstly on the left and secondly with a good lb behind him and a half decent successful team. We haven't given him any if this. Firstly because of Shaw. Then we played him striker and RW. And then we ask him to work hard and drop back which I get should be a minimum ask but some players are just not like that. Salah doesn't do it, Messi doesn't. Not saying he's at that level just saying he doesn't seem capable. Then as a youngster he probably had dreams of being in this great United side. Being up there with Giggs, Keane, Scholes. Lifting trophies etc. But its been one big fkd up sht show. It would be hard for anyone not to loose enthusiasm. You get a new manager and you think yes ok this it. Let's go. Then bam you're slapped on the face. Over and over again. It's hard as a supporter and yes he's being paid 300 grand and should have motivation but it would grind down anyone over 10 plus years of sht
Amorim saw all he needed to in training to know Rashford isnt interesting in doing the hard work that he demands in his system to play for his team. It's as simple as that.

The club's top earner should be setting the standards for the others to match. Unfortunately for some reason, he chooses not to. Whether it's lack of motivation, desire, hunger, ego or a echo chamber of an entourage. Who knows.

It's his own fault.

I don’t believe we will and I don’t believe they’re that stupid anymore either. I’m saying that the club valued him at that year ago. The idea they will take a loan with an obligation to buy for 20 million is insane. And no matter what this place thinks of him he’s most certainly worth more than 20 million.
You gotta just ignore anyone saying Rashford is worth 20 million. They just hate him.

In all seriousness if it was a loan for 6 months then why not Como? He'd play every game whereas at AC Milan, leao plays off the left in rashfords position. I have no idea who plays left wing / left forward at Juventus.

If Rashford wants to secure a permanent transfer to a bigger club, then starting and playing every week at a small club could work out for him.

Greenwood went to getafe and now has 10 in 16 games for Marseille, a giant in French football.
