Anyone else feel he’s just going to be ill everytime there’s potential that he may play a tricky match

Well the PIF is a majority owner of Clearlake and so when Chelsea were in a bind at the beginning of the 23/24 season they magically sold a bunch of players for huge fees to the PIF owned Saudi league. Jim needs to make a shell company that is firewalled from INEOS and use that company to buy a couple of teams in some far flung location and then have them buy all our dross. That would require Jim pumping in a lot of his own money though so I don't see it happening.

Hoping it's more a case of him being out while the club negotiate his sale, and they just use illness as some bullshit excuse. But probably wishful thinking

My point is the club must find one or must find a way to get rid of him in January!! Or else, we’re going to keep paying 300k for nothing which is terrible management from the board.

Rashford didn't look ill to me, he was dropped off as usual by his driver and trained in the gym ,not sure weather he went onto the grass later

They don't own a majority of Clearlake. They are invested in some of it's private equity funds. It's less that 5% or something like that.

That's not to say that Boehly couldn't have had a quiet word with the money men, because as an investor in Clearlake, it might well be in their interest to see Chelsea do well.

"Ill" is probably the stock answer whenever we don't want to disclose the real reason. Remember how ill Sancho was? In reality it's probably some other reason.

Oh I didn’t take it that way, no worries. If he is actually desperate to join them, they probably can work something out (levers, deferred wages, friendly payment schedule from us). But Barca would have to be desperate for him to do all that, and I don’t see why they would be.

Defending him for looking to leave a place he's unwanted at? Sure, I'd do that for anyone, it's the most natural feeling in the world.

It's like when Grinner returned to Redcafe a while ago, and ended up leaving again after everyone called him a cnut for a month straight. Of course the reason people did that is because it is true, but if people they then turned around and got angry at him for leaving, that would be insane.

He said ok publicly, that’s not right especially at this time if he loves the club as much as he says. If he wants out great, get your agent to sort something.

You remember last time we had this conversation, and I asked you if Rashford had privately briefed the press about him wanting to leave instead of saying it publicly, if it would have been treated differently? Well, look at the reaction to the sources the last few days which are clearly coming from his camp. The same angry people are angry because of that as well, so the answer is no. It's fine for the club to let the public know that they want him out. It's fine for the public to go on and on and on and on and on about how he should go. It's not fine for Rashford to let the public know that he'll go.

It's also not even applicable to this situation you're jumping in on, which is somewhat ironic but that's fine. He's getting criticized for wanting to "jump ship". That means wanting to leave. So no, "if he wants out great" is clearly not something everyone thinks. You do, the person I replied to is mad at that as well.

I’ve said it a few times that i think the people around Rashford aren’t very good at «reading the room». He’s an academy player and he’s done wonders for the community, yet it reached a point a long time ago where even the matchgoing fans got frustrated and annoyed with him. He was pleased with how it was handled by them. Case closed. Fans are already less than impressed with your performances and attitude, you’re coming from a poor season and had the Belfast incident, new manager has just arrived and fans are generally optimistic, just won against Manchester City after turning things round at the very end. It’s not really the perfect timing for a planned interview with Winter where you come off as being able to pick and choose clubs around Europe, ready for a new challenge and the next steps, never resting as life is a stair that must be climbed and all of that. It’s beyond stupid to pull a stunt like that at a time like this. First and foremost you don’t really achieve anything positive by going public, it’s not like any clubs needs to be made aware, it just shows that he’s not ready to accept the challenge laid down by the manager. Secondly, everyone expected a lot of concrete news about interest from clubs given that Rashford went public with him being ready to leave, you expect that a deal is being worked on and it’s pretty much signed, but almost 3 weeks later and there’s been nothing. I really don’t think he could’ve played his hand any worse here. You come off as being in a position of strength, be careful or i’ll join a better club and leave this mess behind, but apparently no one is really interested in investing and you look like a bit of a tit.

Maybe something positive will come out of it, maybe the lack of interest will be a fair bit of a warning to Rashford that at the age of 27, when he should be at his peak, there’s not many clubs interested. It’s quite clear that he needs to drop the people advising him.

Fair enough. I just can’t ever imagine going on the internet and posting gifs to mock and ridicule one of our own players unless I really disliked them (particularly an academy graduate), but maybe that’s just me.

Just to be clear, I hope he leaves. But the way people on here post about him gives me the impression they genuinely hate or dislike the guy.
