I was very frustrated at Rashford for squandering the chance yesterday. But then I remember injury time against Wolves and I was also thinking "Give it to Cavani", only for Rashford to lash in the winner. So as a fan, I guess I've just got to take the rough with the smooth. Hopefully the coaches and Marcus himself work on this decision making.

He will never be an elite or even great player. Consistently abysmal decision making and the way he trots around on the pitch like he's prime Cristiano is beyond obnoxious.

You have hit the nail on the head.

He flatters to deceive. Everyone will get on his back and then every so often he bags a brace or a hat trick and the heat subsides but on a consistent basis I think he's been pretty abysmal.

He just doesn't havethe vision or football intelligence to know when to pass and when he should shoot. Small weaknesses make a BIG difference at this level especially if OGS is determined to play him every week. Rashford probably costs us more points then he gains for us.

This has to be the worst post I’ve ever read on here. How do a player, that scores 20 goals for us per season, cost us more points than he gains for us?

I can’t get over that counter he fumbled yesterday. fecking hell

incredibly talented guy but needs to work on his decision making

I hope he scores a hat-trick against Fulham and everyone sings his praises.

On a similar note, I hope Martial gets a hat-trick too, and Pogba and Bruno.

A 12-0 win may calm this place down a bit. :D

“lash in the winner“ is incredibly generous, it took a lucky deflection, come to think of it a few goals come to mind from him which took big deflections.

The way he was driven to a corner by Fabinho and Robertson was impressive. He never had a clear chance to pass it, probably should've taken a shot but to be honest it didn't look easy. Very well executed by Liverpool defenders.

Another quiet night for Greenwood? Get rid Sack them all, burn them all!!!

If we didn't play Rashford there wouldn't be a "Rashford-shaped hole" on his side of the pitch. We could have a more composed, intelligent attacker who could also score 20+ goals.

He'll never be a top top footballer

It’s not the worst post as most of it contains the truth that many won’t, or can’t recognise. Although I don’t necessarily agree about costing us more points than he gains.
However, it’s certainly been the case that his terrible performances have meant he’s been a liability on more than a few occasions and has almost certainly contributed to us dropping points.

As for goals, last season is the only season Marcus has scored 20 goals or more.
22 to be precise including 17 in the league.
Other than that, he’s never scored more than 10 goals in the league in any season, although this time round, with 7 so far at almost the half way point, it‘s almost certain he’ll net more than 10 this season.

.

I can't understand why his decision making is so poor? Ole did mention about poor decision making in his post match and hope so he makes Rashford understand it. Maybe dropping his for a couple of games may be the best way if he continues so?

fecking state of some of the posts in here.

He was rubbish on Sunday and he's been out of form for a while to be honest.

But often even when he's been bad he still produces the goods like scoring the winner against Wolves and assisting the winner vs Burnley. He's been great for Utd and he's only going to get better as he gets older. The stick he gets from some Utd fans is baffling.

I mean we've been given a good show this season regarding Rashford's wasteful finishing. Basically head down and smash it with no thought to technique or placement.

He’s decent. Squad player. Probably a good rotation option; useful to have on the bench, etc. The rest is just emperor’s new clothes stuff with fans insisting he, like Danny Welbeck, Jesse Lingard, Tom Cleverley, Keiron Richardson and all the rest of them, that he’s an excellent footballer and anyone who challenges that knows nothing about the game. Because that’s ALWAYS what fans who really have a hard time accepting limitations of home-grown players resort to.

If he manages to get clear through on goal then occasionally he’s got the pace to keep his head down and score, and he sometimes does. I think it’s generous it to argue there’s much more to his game than that.

Rashford has 14 goals in 29 games. We are top of the league largely down to him n obviously Bruno.

Martial has 5 goals in 22 yet can do no wrong. What the feck has Martial been doing that's so much better than Rashford? Can someone tell me because maybe I have been watching different games.

People got really giddy over that amazing dribble Martial did yesterday. What happened at the end of that amazing dribble? Oh yea he lost the ball.

Rashford gets so much stick but he's been in our top 2 players this season. His goals and assists have us in a title race.

No doubt its the Ole outers now turning on Rashford because they can't have a go at Ole anymore.

Worst fans in the world. End of story.

Definitely, awful fans. Have to shit on our other players to defend one. This bias towards certain players while slating others is so ironic when you then go on to question our fan base.

Pretending he’s of a standard he isn’t and claiming that everyone who disagrees is an “awful fan” is what we see every time some fans struggle to accept the limitations of former academy players.

It’s a blindspot. The Venn diagram of people who think Rashford is an elite player and those who if given the choice would like to argue that Lingard is just a kid developing or that even to this day Welbeck will be world class if given games, would be a single solid circle.

If a player comes from the academy the only thing to do is to pretend he’s better than he is because not doing so upsets people. Time after time.

Yes, no thought for technique or placement... :wenger:

Bit of common sense would tell you why he didn't score more than 10 league goals before this season.

I have no doubt that few of these "fans" are the ones with player worshipping accounts on twitter, who are more worried about "banter" and shit posting about other players.

I think the problem with Rashford is that the team around him is not as good as it supposed to be despite the talents within the team. there seems to be some sort of disconnect between the players and it impacts Rashford.

Rashford is an amazing player and he is young which means he can still improve, but we still need to improve as a team overall, liverpool's game showed us how we as team lack the ability to maintain control of the ball and sustain the attack and be on the front foot even for 5-10 mins, in such circumstances you cant expect your forwards to do anything except chasing shadows and dropping deep and then making long solo runs on the counter.

You see if you go all the way back since when he was 5 year old, you will find that his goal scoring record for United first team is really poor.. that's why he is a shit player. Also he misses chances whereas every above average player puts away every chance they get. Fact!

Are people claiming that we have a Rashford problem while arguing there is no Martial problem

It's actually hilarious people moaning about his goal scoring record ignoring that him and Martial used to play 50% of total league mins.

I personally think he’s carrying some sort of major shoulder injury. Ever since he picked it up his running style has changed; he seems to have lost his explosiveness and he just generally seems to lack confidence! I think it’s been managed to get him through the season but wouldn’t be surprised if he needs an operation.

Martial isn't producing. Rashford is.

Martial isn't producing. Rashford is.

Is he? in decisive moments this season he's been mediocre. Leipzig not passing for a 100% greenwood chance springs to mind. Also a good amount of situations in big PL matches where he could have done better

14 goals in 29. That's 1 in 2. Or do you struggle with basic math?

His passing has always been a weak spot in his game.

Rashford n Bruno are the two biggest reasons we are top of the league. End of story.

Sorry if this is posted already. Anyway, what was his thinking?? Cavani would be one on one there

Having watched that video over and over again, there was little chance of Cavani going through against Alisson from a direct Rashford pass. Cavani wasn't quick enough.

Martial isn't producing. Rashford is.
And Martial’s been heavily criticised all season, it’s weird to pretend that isn’t the case. Almost every post I see from you in this thread it seems like you’re begging for Martial to be abused, just because people are criticising Rashford too, it’s proper fanboyish behaviour.

In CL
Winning goal vs PSG
Hattrick vs Leipzig
Equaliser vs PSG in the home tie

In PL
Goal vs Brighton to make it 2-1
Vs Newcastle, scoring was 1-1. He won penalty which Bruno missed. Then in the last 10 mins, he made 2 assists and scored a goal to make it 4-1
Assisted winner in the injury time vs Southampton, to make it 3-2
Scored vs West Ham to make it 3-1
Scored equalising goal vs Sheffield United and also 3rd goal to make it 3-1.
Scored opening goal vs Leicester
Scored injury time winner vs Wolves
Set up winning goal vs Burnley.

That's lot of decisive moments in half a season.
