I'm genuinely thinking he could be a good long-term RW option for us, his dribbling is better on that side as he can go in or out with his right (whereas on the left he struggles at times when forced outside on to his left), he can shoot with both feet and can pick a pass. It'd help us since basically all of our attackers favour coming in from the left.
Agreed. Also, his body shape is better to receive a pass, shield the ball, and the way he runs he is always "open" towards the field meaning it's easier to make a quick pass. I don't think Rashford is that great from the left, especially against tight defense, but I've been impressed with him against Villa, even without a goal.

The only concern I have is his decisions under pressure, yesterday he had a easy pass to Pogba but the shot was on with his left foot and I think because he was in 2 minds the shot went straight to the keeper which on a better day and clear mind ends up with a goal. He needs to up his work rate too he sometimes looks like he can't be bothered to chase and close down. Definitely not a Welbeck 2.0 as some suggest but is in danger of being a JlingZ 2.0 as by now he should have been the complete player which I believe he is 20% off.

Wait...Jesse Lingard is 20% away from being a complete player?

Thought was very good against villa. Problem with playing on the right, when he cuts inside, he's on his left foot.

If he can improve his weaker foot, then he could become very hard to stop.

Love seeing his continual improvement. He's going to still get so much better.

It feels like nobody has really noticed that Rashford already has 14 goals this season, only 8 shy of his previous season best and already his second most prolific season. We forget that it was a big deal for both him and Martial to both hit 20 last season. If he stays fit, he almost certainly plays at least another 30 games and possibly even more.

He looks so dangerous, but could obviously sharpen up his finishing. Exciting that there is still so much room for him to improve, despite looking a top player already.

What amazes me about Rashford is he’s a complete vibes and instinct player. Terrible decision making and yet has 13 non penalty goals. Imagine what happens when we he starts being less singleminded and starts making better decisions.

That video above of him dribbling is not impressive and looks like that of a 17 year old player that wants to take on multiple defenders when you can navigate between defenders and make a simple pass. He is 23 now so eventually he will mature and realize this.

I no longer crucify him on his finishing because I’ve seen players deemed better fluff multiple chances per game. Salah the biggest culprit. I actually think his finishing has improved. What I will say he needs to improve is his crossing. He loves to knuckleball his cross which makes no sense.

These are the bulk of 19 posts you've posted in this thread. 95% of criticism for a player who's got 15 goals already in half a season. Such a weird agenda to have. Embarrassing and clueless.
is it? or are you the one that is clueless. I mean you prove the point in your own response. “ who’s got 15 goals already in half a season” it’s like you don’t even read and are just trolling yourself

Most of those posts raise the same thing. Needs to make better decisions and on occasion pass to people that are in better positions instead of wasting great opportunities for the team to score. Thats what it’s about, the team doing well. Not one player. Although if he started making better decisions and on occasion making the passes his stock would go up immensely.

What most of you can’t handle is people can criticise a player and still really like them. I think he has every thing to be an incredible player, he’s still young but if he improves on the things mentioned then he is already there.

Guardian Footballer of the year. What an incredible young man we have on our team (and a great player too.)

Man Utd 0:2 Man City
All his touches in the final 3rd were absolutely terrible. This was crap performance.

Looked the threat first half. Looked like he’d gone home for the second.

You can almost tell from the first 5 minutes of any match which Rashford your going to get. Tonight was the tired, wasteful and greedy rashford.

Whats up with him not even attempting to press when we lose the ball 3 feet away from him? Not just this game but a constant theme I saw from him. Those Cavani chases should have been an example for all our attacking players in helping out the midfield but no, never happened

Didn't work for him, got frustrated after the first half and lost it in the second.

I'd continue playing him from the right, didn't look better when shifted to the left.

Was our best attacker IMO and our only threat. Martial/Bruno/Pogba were all terrible and wasteful for the most part.

Sure he was caught offside a few times but made so many runs that where ignored. Not a good game all around from are forwards.

Over eager with his runs in the first half and missed arguably our best chance, just didn't quite click for him tonight.

Even though he has been chipping in with goals and assists, it has to be said recently his form has been poor over the 90 minutes.

He's had such a strange season.

His numbers are very good - goals and assists. Everything else waaaaay below par, including basic effort.

The fact that he's been by far our best attacker is an indictment on how little we're getting out of our forwards this season.

Thinking about that actually makes me appreciate that, despite the criticism they get, our defence and midfield (and De Gea) have really carried us this season.

Defended him after the last game, but he definitely got worse as the game went on today. He has to play on the left. You take away that goal threat and it takes away half his game.

You could tell Ole wanted them much more rigid tonight than against Villa. There was barely any movement from their set positions.

Somebody needs to teach him about the offside rule and how to not be offside, because clearly he hasn't figured it out.

There were three separate times in the first half where he was looking across the line and wasn't in an onside position at any point while getting ready to make a run if a through ball came in.

I genuinely think he doesn't understand the offside rule

He must be frustrated. He makes runs all the time but his teammates can`t see them. And when they do it`s half a second to late so he is offside. A top class cm with great vision would have found him a few times this game. Fred and Scott puts in a shift every game but their abilities to start attacks for us is not quite at the level we need. Doesn`t help either when Bruno isn`t at his best.
Think he also is a bit stifled at the right flank for some reason. His dribbling comes more naturally from the left.
That said, he should be able to do more than what he did tonight.

He's like this in every game, even the ones where he's scored and been hailed as some sort of messiah.
Lazy and showing no effort, desire or commitment whatsoever.
Typically he'll casually jog over towards the opposing player in possession, often arriving too late and slow and showing no intent.
But whether he arrives late or not, he always stops a few yards short, with no intention of going close to the player, completely failing to close down or press.
Martial is just as bad.
We also have too many midfield players who are poor at closing down, pressing or winning back the ball.
I can just imagine opposition managers telling their players not to worry about Utd players trying to stop them upfield or in midfield.
A bunch of training pitch practice cones the lot of them.

Wasted on the right side.

his timing of runs is so much worse than on the left. Was offside more than inzaghi!

Don't think he's worse on the right, he just didn't get the ball.

Lindelof, Wan Bisakka and Mctominay building on that side is like an armless bricklayer.

We spent a bit more time over there once Pogba moved over to the centre right and Greenwood had a few chances to go at them.

This is Marcus. Inconsistent touch, baffling decisions, wasted opps. No goals to paper over today.

Then again, martial was terrible too.

Another absolutely disappointing showing from the lad. Nothing came off for him and predictably, we were treated to the usual token effort on defense yet again.

Really needs to get his ego, selfishness and decision making sorted out.

This guy thinks he's a made man, if he runs back to defend the same way he does going forward AWB wouldn't be exposed all the time. But he's the darling boy so he gets away with it

What is the deal with Rashford and constantly being caught offside every single game. I don't even get excited when he's put through anymore
He needs to focus more. Not just this where it’s evident. He hasn’t seemed ‘in the zone’ all season. Really needs to switch on and work on his game now
