Didn't track back as well as Mason and didn’t do anything with the couple of opportunities he had.

His form has been very up and down this season. Still I think he's very important to our play style even he's playing poorly.

Any one claiming hes been ran into the ground is just making excuses for him. Hes been like it for 18 months at least. Hes had rest in that period.

Hes just lazy and not particularly smart with his play at all.

That's not really the point I'm making, but yeah, selection is down to the manager. Albeit, I'm sure he'd argue that he could give the likes of Rashford a week off here and there if he had players like Sancho in his squad, for example.

We had Martial on the bench today. Couldn't possibly have done any worse than Rashford.

Anyway. Tired or not this was a shambles of a performance from Rashford for which Ole cannot really be blamed for. He should always get the basics right

It's true.

He's had rest within the past 18-24 months but he has been deminstrating this laziness and poor game IQ that whole time.

He's undroppable due to lack of options and he knows it.
Nah.

Although his decision making does need to improve, I'll agree with that.

He's always at his best with an in form Martial playing up top. We can't hold the ball in the opposition half when we have Rashford, Greenwood and to a certain extent Cavani up top. He's so good at certain aspects of the game, he's explosive, great shot, electric pace, good trickery and decent close control. What he doesn't have is a consistently tight first touch, good decision making or strength. He needs someone to play off or he can be very underwhelming.

He’s just not that good, is he? Like, I’m not saying he’s bad, but he’s not great. He’s a good but inconsistent player who is capable of a moment of magic from time to time.

I really don’t understand why it’s just accepted no questions asked that he’s a nailed on starter.

He reminds me a bit of Walcott when he was at Arsenal. Touted as future world class as a teenager, became a good player but never hit close to the heights he was tipped to. Can be anonymous a lot of the time, but when he’s on it he’s absolutely explosive.

Another poor performance from Rashford. At least he’s being consistent.
Everyone else has said it all.
He isn’t anywhere good enough to be a starter for any top team, never mind for Utd, but we have very limited options available.
Voted the worst performer today on the caf poll.

Eh, can't fault the lad. Some players age like fine wine but others peak much earlier, especially strikers.

We'll all look back in years to come and raise a glass to when we saw Marcus Rashford at his best, aged 21.

Politics have gotten into his head
Boris Johnson is a prime example, I'm pretty sure he wears a wig

Spot on. Glad this is finally gaining traction. I’ve been saying this for months. He’s lazy, has no impetus/urgency on the ball like Greenwood and has half the talent the kid does. He’s a 1 in 4 finisher and only has the amount of goals he does because of volume. We really have had little to choose from other than him.
Him and martials combined laziness and lack of finishing ability is the reason we’ve scored 20-30 goals less per season than the top lot in the past 4 seasons.

It’s the reason we’re constantly on the search for a reliable striker. Lukaku, Sanchez, Ibra, Ighalo, Cavani have all come while we’ve been trying to peel away from relying on Marcus/Tony.

Its become glaringly obvious now. He’s hit his maximum potential and we are forced to ride his rollercoaster of mediocrity

Rash, gash and trash.

Absolutely abysmal performance from him today, strutting around like a Messi/CR7 despite not having the quality and end product to back it up. Poor effort on defense, horrid touches and lazy goal attempts. His laughable little performance for the penalty deserves a Razzies award on its own.

We have built this kid up and now we inevitably have to watch him break under the pressure - his talent and mentality was never enough for a top United forward.

Nah.

Although his decision making does need to improve, I'll agree with that.

It really is an indulgent excuse afforded to rashy and no one else. He’s always been this kind of player due to his poor technical skills and low game iq, his quality of play is hugely inconsistent and he simply can’t play when there isn’t space.

Not sure how lack of rest translates to championship level touch and schoolyard level decision making

He certainly isn't finding that form. We need proper competition for him. He just doesn't have any sharpness or instinct at the moment.

Not many strikers could have done much in that negative setup.
Interestingly Rashford never fell out with Mourinho and Mourinho was always full of compliments for him yet the relationship seemed difficult as in you could tell Rashford too was happy when Ole took over, Jose was just probably very toxic to everyone.
However Rashford himself said he became a better player under Mourinho but he seems to be regressing under Ole.

Its up to him I guess. Will he be pro Ole even though its clearly holding him back as a player?

I really think Rashford has it in him to be world class but at 23 the window might be closing. Its up to him really. He has plateaued and he needs some sort of a change.

Personally I think Rashford really needs a better manager that will be able to get more out of him and simply demand more out of him too. His effort isnt close to what it was before and it would be a shame if this is his top level. With someone pushing him I believe he still has a lot of ceiling that he hasnt reached.

This entire season, I've always felt he's carrying an injury seeing him play. Just not as nimble, seems a second off pace all the time. Also, the way he crutches his back whenever he goes down is a tad scary. It'd be a bit shit if he's risking long term issues because we don't have anyone else we can rely on. Especially given he's hardly a world beater on current form.

His top level is probably what Son Heung Min is now. Something like that.
I just think we are not even trying to get the best out of him. He is just kinda there.
I just feel he can be a lot better under a real manager and yes I do think its all down to that especially in games like vs Leipzig or City where we set up so negatively with about 75 DM's.

The worst thing about him is he runs with the ball with his head down, when he knows he has 3-4 opp players around him. He makes these blind alley runs and then he loses the ball, and our whole attack is wasted. He has to realise he is not Maradona, and pass the ball. Such a waste of talent. And I'm glad more people are noticing how useless he has become off the ball.

Hope its the injury, and not fame getting to him. Barring moments of brilliance, he has been crap post lockdown.

This. He is playing through injury as we have inadequate cover. For RW.

What a poor load of excuses for a player that shows no urgency, no intelligence and no desire through effort.

Mediocre Marcus. When you aren’t that talented you jolly well bust a gut and work at least as hard as the others.

I’m convinced something isn’t right with him in terms of work rate. I think he’s been carrying injuries for upwards of 12 months, and it looks to me like he’s really struggling to press, or being told not to.

He needs a rest for a couple of games, use him as an impact sub as soon as Cavani is back and play him with Martial and Greenwood.

I do think his general work rate has dropped off for a while now, whether that’s due to injury, instruction or bloated ego who knows, just seems a rest would do him good and when he comes off the bench he is usually very good.

I'm more concerned with his fitness level than overall performances which have been mostly shit. One thing that worries me though is he likes to play "standing" football, he doesn't do much good when on the run. Greenwood is better already in that department imo.

Maybe he don't like to press anymore, and our manager no longer insist on our players to do press well.

Laissez-faire.

That's the major concern in our squad. People talk about our defense but feck me we look dire when one or two of our strikers are out of form. Zero competition

To think the effort that players like Rooney, Beckham and Giggs put in even with more talent it's infuriating.

We drop players for non playing issues but we won't drop players who are off form.

Rashford has been like this for 2 years, man thinks he has arrived so he doesn't have to press.

He gets caught flat footed waiting for the ball to come to him no movement in the box.

The only time he runs is when he thinks he can get on the end of a pass to score, but won't run to close down opponents leaving AWB on his own

How can your winger get the ball out wide and just turn back inside and pass, he hasn't attempted a dribble for God knows how long

But he's no Pogba, Fred or Martial so he gets away with it.
