Was bad but in the last moments he provides a skill of brilliance. (Finished by a true predator tbf)
Love Rashyyy!

It was a great cross into Cavani, so give him due credit for the assist that gave us the victory, but throughout the game, apart from a few good moments, he was very poor again overall, especially off the ball and with poor movement.
Cavani and Bruno were chasing Southampton players down, when they were trying to play forward from their own half, but Rashford was just walking around in a trance half the time.
Earlier in the 2nd half he almost vanished, when his team mates were battling to get us back in the game.

Cavani has showed what we’ve been missing for a long time. Rashford is not it.

Needs to work with Ole on how to behave in front of goal. He can easily be one of the better attacking players in Europe, he just needs to make that one final step towards focus on the right decision making.

Poor attempt at sarcasm. I already addressed today's performance.

So what's the problem? Apart from his cracking performance against Leipzig, when was the last time he actually played well? he has 2 league goals, and his last goal came in the 4-1 win against Newcastle in the middle of October.

He needs to sort his finishing as it has been very inconsistent this season.

Poor overall, but then he still has moments of quality in pretty much every game that only really Bruno can match in our squad.

Moments?

He literally has one positive impact in todays match, a cross that Cavani does ever so well to score from.

Yep mate so all in all you confirmed my whole post with ah bit more words:)
I'm still absolutely buzzing with this result after 2:0 down and a few pints here in zurich (the english pubs are still open over here)

Generalising the statement so it can apply (mostly) for every game.

It was a brilliant cross too, only him or Bruno are hitting that.

What's the problem? Only Fernandes has been more productive this season and you want Rashford out for who exactly? People have an agenda against Marcus or are just deluded about the performances of the other forwards in the squad.

I'd say that the problem is that 3 out of 4 forwards have been wank, but for some reason we're still pretending that Rashford looks mint...And that we're pointing to his goals, when apart from his penalty against Istanbul, he hasn't scored or played well since the match against Leipzig, which is a month ago, which more or less stands out as his one superb performance this season.

I'm not going to keep going in circles with this discussion, I put facts on the table to back my view so I'm not going to pretend that I see sense in anything you are saying.

I've figured your fanboy agenda, Rashford keeps helping the team win games even when playing bad and it makes you so angry, that you have to flood his performance thread with your slander.

Angry and slander, mint

There's no agenda from me, happy to praise whatever player that plays well and have a go at whatever player that isn't performing. For some reason, Rashford can have an atrocious performance apart from one good cross and somehow you manage to describe him as "crucial to getting a tough win", it's bizarre.

Maybe that one cross really was crucial to getting the tough win?

It's a good cross into a dangerous area, that's it, Cavani is the one that does it all, it sure as feck doesn't excuse the remaining 94 minutes of the match where he's about as hard working as Moss.

Rashford is producing the goals and assists that win us the games and you are calling for him to be dropped for players that have shown nothing better in comparison, neither in numbers or performances.

That is the text-book definition of an agenda. Martial, Mata, Greenwood, James, Ighalo, non of them deserve a consistent first 11 selection. Which brings us again to my initial point, which was that only Rashford and Cavani have been effective in attack this season and deserve to start, the rest have to fight for a spot.

Do one.

He could benefit from being more explosive. Unless a counters on, he almost always takes a long pause after controlling the ball, allowing an opponent to square up to him.

rashford attempts the same cross atleast 3 times every game, for the first time in longtime a striker actually went to attack it....

So, according to Transfermarkt, Rashford has played 1083 minutes in all competitions and has 8 goals with 5 assists. This means he averages a goal contribution every 83-84 minutes played.
He has good stats but his general gameplay has been poor this season. Today he was terrible and got an assist and he wasn't much better against PSG and got the winner.

We barely get goal contributions from anyone other than bruno and our attackers so Rashford will generally tend to have good stats.

His decision making is really bad and it does need to improve. Every game there is always at least one moment where he should pass and dribbles on to his right, down a blind alley in to about 4 players instead.

I mean it's much more then that... He spots the run and then has to play the perfect pass to marry up with the run. It's a great ball.

If he was better and scored many of those missed chances, he'd have world class numbers. Not being there yet is no shame and he is a level above so far this season from anyone else in our attack. Martial will make a comeback but he needs to fight for a spot in the first 11 now.

You seem to be the one with the aganda here...He has an atrocious performance against Southampton, but the cross after 92 mins redeems everything and somehow his performance gets labelled as crucial to getting a tough win..What was his last assist then, oh yeah, against Everton where he rolled the ball sideways to Fernandes who whipped in a cross that Rashford somehow managed to miss, but the ball bounced in off the post, solid that one as well, a cockhair away from miss of the season but ends up with an assist instead

His last great performances were against Leipzig and Everton, apart from that his overall performances are as much as a worry as they were after he returned from his back injury last season. I hoped that the Leipzig match was a turn around for him, because we sure as feck will depend heavily on Rashford finding that level of performance in order for us to finish top4 this season. It's not an agenda, it's a concern, and when his performances are generally poor and paired with him making wrong decisions, like trying to go past 4 opponents instead of simply rolling the ball sideways to a better positioned player, or going for glory when a simple sideways pass will result in an easy tap in, then i have no idea why we're supposed to praise him.

I agree, replay shows that he looks up and puts it into the area Cavani is running into.

Still has much to work at. Particularly his habit of making bad decisions in the final third and especially over dribbling /backing himself against defenders unecessarily. He's not a top class dribbler and he'd be even better if he knew his limitations. Like Son, for example. You never see him go on pointless dribbles becuase he knows his stength is his pace and shooting and to time his moments rather than go at defenders like Messi or Robben.

It's not a major gripe. Rashford is still a very good footballer of course.

I don't understand what are you still trying to prove to me? That Rashford should be dropped or that he hasn't been consistent enough? If it's the latter, I agree but he has still been one of our better forwards so far this season.

Great summary.

I would say that he 'should' be dropped because he has been poor for most of the season, except our other attackers have been even worse. Rashford at least has had two or maybe three good matches, and he's also managed to get a few goals or assists in the games that he's been poor in even though his general performance hasn't been any better than the others.

Exactly. I can't believe this has been so difficult for @UncleBob to grasp.

You're such a baby.

Nah, just reckon it's a great summary. You're not capable of having a debate about his performances so i'll just leave it at that. If you're happy with how he's performing on the pitch then good for you.

You're incapable of rational thinking, mate. Sort yourself out, this is just embarrassing.
