Our 2nd best player IMO. Clearly better than Pogba now.
Great to see him do well today.

He was dog shit when Martial was out last season.i like it better when he is playing in the middle, reminds me of last season when martial was not available.
He certainly was more reliable last season. Rashford isn't as good as CF than Martial, most of the threats in this game came from the left-hand side. They work much better as a pair than as competitors for a spot.Always felt he is a better striker than Martial, I just think Martial isn't reliable.

No I don't think so. Both were injured and both scored and contributed to the cause. 23 and 12 for Martial v 22 and 11 for Rashford . Martial played 48 games and Rashford 44.He certainly was more reliable last season.
The team around him at that point was "dog shit" too.
I have no idea what these people watch.

I agree with a lot that you said but Martial isn't going to win me over I seem to have made up my mind about him. But I will admit that he was pretty good last season.Don't forget penalties skew those statistics. Rashford hasn't really produced as a CF, and neither can play on the RW properly. If/when Greenwood ascends to be ready to take over the CF spot, they should split the LF position. Until then, Martial is the best CF and brings a lot more to Rashford from there than sitting on the bench or competing against him. Rashford didn't have his great run last season until Martial came back from injury.
Wouldn't think so. Both, when they're at their best link up fantastically. Hopefully both get there sooner rather than later.Wonder if he's slightly unhappy about Martial playing the #9 and him out wide.
The fact is, we have two players better as wide forwards who want to play centrally.
Is it really necessary to swap them around permanently? Why not have them interchanging positions which would confuse defenders?Great game from Sir Dr. Marcus. Maybe time to swap him and Martial around?

I also think Martial is great as a playmaking No.9 or false 9 but somehow we have only utilized this skill before Bruno. Rashford is also great as a wide forward coming in to create and score goals but since Bruno came in we seem to be using them in traditional roles when we should be utilizing their strengths as players. The problem with Martial for me is not him - it's the way he is being used.
He isnt a run behind the defence type goal scorer that Rashford and Greenwood are hence why those two are being played out wide. The guy naturally holds on to the ball and wants to drop deep to initiate play.
When Martial plays centrally he is made to play so forward - being the striker that should run in behind the defence rather than being made to play behind Rashford and Greenwood and playing balls in to them to make runs in to.
Our main goalscorers should be Rashford and Greenwood on an inverted striking partnership with players like Martial or VDB playing as a false 9 or CAM respectively. Mata can play behind them aswell.
Don't know how long we need to give him but agree with what you said, he had a solid season last season.Until there's more options in attack, the best bet is to let them play together with Rashford coming from the left and Martial staying central because he can bring others into play. I think just looking at Rashford's poor finishing throughout his career is enough to settle the argument he shouldn't be the CF, especially when Greenwood is on the rise. But I get that Martial is a very polarizing player, and while he made some progress in regards to his contribution when the team around him is poor, he hasn't hit the ground running so far this season and people are quick to sharpen the knives and write off arguably the best player the club had last season. I wouldn't write him off just yet.
Can anyone translate this absolute word salad? The problem with Martial for me is not him - it's the way he is being used.

How about buying competent strikers? Can anyone translate this absolute word salad?
Anywho, it is pretty clear that Rashford's future lies up front. He runs the channels better, he drops off his man and finds space so much better than what we have seen in the attack. I think it is obvious the other creative players initiate way better with him than Martial. He's not that comfortable in a creative sense face up against two or three around the edge of the box and it thought that was pretty obvious today. Which is why he has looked pretty wretched of late on the left.
If we can get him on the same crash course hold up plan that Martial is on at the moment then I think it will improve his game and positioning in the box with the amount of creativity behind him he'll be able to orchestrate in the attack and finish chances.
