Probably due to have a world class striker in the middle affording him a lot of time and space to do what he does.

Well, that and the League One level opposition.

So happy for him, love this guy.

Always said it but he shows his superiority against lesser opposition more than most players I've seen. Makes it very easy to embarrass the opposing players which you'd expect, but he does more than most. Looked great today.

If he shows his superiority against lesser opposition and also scores lots of goals in big games, you can't ask for much more.

Rashford looks better on the right for England than he ever has for us.

So does Maguire, (not on the right though) he was culpable for Iran's first goal, but both looked a lot better in that environment, and I wish them both well for the rest of the tournament.

Should be him, Kane and Saka.
I would have said the same before the game but there’s just something about Sterling who always turns up for England. No matter how poor he’s playing at club level or little game time he’s getting, he always steps up at international level.

I don’t see Southgate dropping him or Saka at all for the rest of the tournament unless there’s an injury.

And there is possibly Southgate's problem I believe, he won't change his players, he'll stick with his tried and trusted team in every match, therefore opposing managers know exactly who and how we will play against them, so can set up their own team to exploit that.
I think we'll certainly go with a back three against stiffer opposition, and will become predictable as normal.

Actually scores a goal without trying to twat the ball into next week for once

Finally scored with his left foot and didn't try to force it to his right

He should get used to use his left foot more and be more versatile as a winger and a player

Having some sort of shooting threat on his left along with being comfortable attacking the ball in the air would take Rashford from a solid forward to a potential WC one

Took his goal really well. He needs to stop being played on the right though. Bizarre that fans appear to know more than managers at times.

What gets me isn't that these players are played "out of position" so much. After all, every right footed winger these days seems to think they're a left winger more than a right. What gets me is you can have 2 such wingers e.g. Rashford and Sterling, Rashford and Sancho, and yet managers hardly ever seem to say to them, ok take it in turns then, swap for 10 mins 2 or 3 times in the game and see how you get on. It's a bit unfair forcing one to play "out of position" the whole time and knock their confidence a bit IMO. It's even more baffling in the 2 examples above when IMO both Sancho and Sterling actually tend to look better on the right and yet they'll almost exclusively play on the left.

I think the same thing to a lesser extent with inverted wingers in general. As an example Foden seems to always play on the right for Southgate but actually for City he plays both sides and I think he arguably looks more natural on the left as he's got a genuine threat down the outside but is still a threat cutting in because he has such good touch and finishing ability. I'm not saying he should never play on the right, but why not let him switch every now and again to see what's going to work best against that opposition.

One of many United players having a great tournament, exciting future ahead if we can get a couple more quality additions and avoid a car crash takeover.
