He's definitely not a natural centre forward but he's getting involved in the goals again to be fair to him. Should be fighting for a spot on the left with Sancho when Martisl is back.

He's had a bad injury in a very disjointed Utd team. I'm willing to give him another chance under Erik.

I’ve been one of his biggest critics. He’s proving me wrong. I still think his all round game is lacking and wasn’t what it once was, but he’s chipping in with vital goals and assists. Long may it continue. Also love that EtH has managed to find a way to get the best out of him.

He is still playing very poorly overall, still largely invisible when we are in possession and always fecked things up when trying to running blindly into legs of defenders.
But you can't argue with 2 goals 1 assists against the league leader. He is still a threat when combined with Bruno in counter attack. Maybe that's why ETH insist of playing him most of the time.

His overall play as a striker is not very good. You don't really get a sense he's going to trap the ball when it gets fired in. Or that he'll get his body position right against contact from the CB. Some of the nuances of centre forward play are lacking a lot and have been throughout the opening matches.
But he scares defenders to death when he threatens in behind. He's a useful player at this stage of ETH's evolution of this side for that reason as we're playing very direct through the lines. I think as our possession game develops it will ask more and more of Rashford and he'll need some answers, but for now it's working.

He's an ideal counter attacking striker but not much else
Good assist and two well taken goals. Came up clutch today and his celebrations showed it meant a lot to him. Seeing him elated after the third goal with eriksen felt good. I echo what most people have said which is his general forward play is lacking but he is contributing. Like early Bruno, a lot of your flaws will get forgotten if you're scoring and assisting regularly. Long may it continue , a great run of form to get into the world cup squad will benefit us.

Obviously he will never become a top level striker and he has been overhyped by the media due to his activism. But he is still a good option to have and there are a lack of top strikers in the current market anyway. Maybe that's why PSG wanted him. He thrives in a counter-attacking system and last night game was evident by this. Last season was an anomaly and I'm willing to give him the benefit. Already has 3 goals in 6 games.
So what happens when he doesn't get the goals? Unless the cf is Ronaldo or messi in their prime, they have to be a competent player outside of just scoring or assisting goals. Because there are going to be a lot of games where he won't assist or score.

When our forward options are Martial, Rashford and Ronaldo, I'm pretty sure the system will be designed to accommodate them. I've watched Haaland and Nunez this season and they also aren't expected to run around like headless chickens.. I'd say that their defensive efforts are even less than what we saw from Ronaldo in this game.
Big game player. Him rediscovering his form would mean that we can go into big games with opposition automatically pushed 5-10 yards back giving our midfield more room. How I wish for him to remain hungry, happy and healthy.
May be dude, I didn't claim to know manager's tactics inside out. Just what I am seeing, there were more than a few instances where Sancho is closing his man down, antony blocked off the pass to his guy and rashford standing around watching bruno do the pressing for him, and may be i am being harsh but given how shit rashford has been for past 2 years I atleast don't feel he has earned the right to excuse his 88 mins of poor performance for 2 mins of brilliance.

He is playing in a position that he is not really suited for. Didn't play so well but still contributed with goals and assist. The biggest positive I took from this performance is that compared to last season, he look to give a damn and there is this grit that was previously missing when things are not going well. You can say that for the whole team, there is grit and intensity that was missing in previous season.

Yes, it's something that we saw when he first broke into the side. He bulked up a bit a couple of seasons ago and started challenging for the ball aggressively, then got the double stress fracture on his back and has been avoiding contact again since.

Rashford is unfortunately for his haters - still producing 5 G+A in 6 games.
I don't like him in CF role, but he's super effective in counter attacking football. Considering that we play much better now in transition, I think wingers will have more time and space and I fancy Rashford chances against barely-fit-to-start Sancho on LW. Not ideal, but he is a weapon on current form and deserves starts somewhere along the front 3.
As long as he can effect the scoreline consistently, his deficiencies aren't that much of an issue even if we'd all love an improvement in terms of ball retention
We’ve gone from having a player who looked like he had given up on football. He was shot to pieces. He’s now become a player getting vital goals and assists despite not being at his best in general play. That’s good enough for me. ETH has something to work with and we can see already it’s working. It’ll come.

Rashford has never been anything special in general play, he was always about those moments where he pops up with a goal or an assist out of nowhere.

This and Liverpool are exactly the games he should start. When the opposition will basically have a lot of the ball and their defenders on the half way line. It plays perfectly to his strengths.
