This place is a mess. Still not the CF we need but he has his uses in games like this, did struggle with the hold up but he wasn't completely useless today and managed another assist. Wont be long before Martial is back and hopefully creates a healthy competition for the LW spot from Sancho and Rashford.

We all hated his displays in the past 2 years but he seems to turn the corner. His output is good, and his general performance is improving as well. Even his work rate got better as the game went on so...

3 goals this season, all 3 from the left, all 3 in the second half, all 3 against a big team chasing a goal, all 3 on the counter. 2 assists, both on the counter/quick build-up.
On-form (which he is), he is a counter-attacking menace.
Need Ronaldo to step up as CF or Martial to get fit to really unlock him.

My brudda. Need him back to his best. Hopefully this does something to him and jolts him into some sort of fomr

Watch his full celebration after the first goal. For a few seconds his eyes were just closed and took a deep breath. Seems like in that moment, a huge weight just left his shoulders.

ETH will have a nice problem when Martial is fit. Picking 3 from Rashford, Ronaldo, Sancho, Antony, Martial

Great to have and with 5 subs being available and Ronaldo now committed to the cause too, they'll all play every game, whether from the start or as a sub. It's a must to have those options to rotate and bring on fresh legs against tired defenders.

Imo there isn't necessarily a competition for the LW or RW position. We have an immense number of matches to play and I don't think Rashford or Sancho has the legs to start all of them. Rashford/ Sancho/ Antony to rotate for the season is barely enough imo. Let alone injury or suspension.

Anyway really happy for him today. I'm a big fan but I thought his body was fecked after playing too many matches through various injuries. Thank God I was wrong but that knock at the end still worries me a bit. Looks like he still has problems with his body. ETH should manage him carefully I think. He's only 24 yo and if he can come back to his old self hell of a player we'd have for the next years.

I voted him MotM not only because of 2 goals + assist but liked his overall game and intensity as well. His 2nd half vs Liverpool was the best he played in long time and this is the best game he's played in long time imo, too.

So him scoring and assisting exempts him from doing defensive work, a performance has to be looked at in totality, he isn't exactly ronaldo in prime where the goal output more than makes up for lack of defensive work. He was abysmal off the ball and scoring and assisting doesn't change that. He took his goals well and should have a lot of confidence going into the next games, but that doesn't mean he should be let off the hook for jogging around like a 40 year old on vacation half the time.
Come on man, what a shocking post. Rashford does a huge amount of running off the ball that often gets missed.

2 goals and an assist as CF, that is the be all and end all. Would you rather Jesus? Plenty of effort and workrate, but toothless up front as usual in big games. I know which I prefer.

Odd player. Frustrates you for most of the game but ends up being decisive. His effort improved massively after the 1st goal he scored.

All-in-all, it’s hard to argue against him being MOTM with 2 goals and an assist in a 3-1 win.

Since Ronaldo was dropped we've won 4 on the bounce.

Yes, and I'm hoping it's Martial rather than him that takes the spot, and we get Rashford feeding off him from the left.
I think it's pretty clear Rashford is much better on the left, from where he has scored all 3 of his goals? And that not having a physical presence upfront stifles the attack overall, which is pretty obvious vs lesser teams?

You can't complain at 2 goals and an assist.

Hopefully it gives him more of a boost and he keeps scoring.
Let's all hope so, because if he keeps scoring or being a part of a build-up for a goal, until then all is good. Otherwise, his performances aren't good enough yet and he definitely hasn't turned a corner.

I just ask all these "get him signed a new contract, pay him what he wants" posters to calm down and be more rational-minded. He is still that Rashford who used his PR machine to find some lame excuses for being crap and uninterested on the pitch, don't forget about it.

Yes, he scored and assisted and it's wonderful - cannot ask for more. But, it's just a small run of games - if he is able to maintain a great form throughout the season or at least a half of it, then we can suggest he is turning a corner finally.

But, his off the ball movement and sort of afraid-of-contact mentality will lead to him being sold soon, as there are other performers who are just more efficient than him from team perspective.

I have to say that I think some are going overboard. This match was like his 20/21 performances - mostly poor but managing to get goals and assists. Full credit to him for getting two goals and an assist and it's obviously better that what he's been dishing up for the last 12 months, but I don't see it being sustainable unless his general play improves again. Even the crowd were starting to get on his back a few times.

In saying that, he's never really shown much of an all-round game when playing as striker, so hopefully he can gain confidence from the goals and assists and lift his performances when he moves back to the wing. Indeed, all three of his goals this season have come after Martial or Ronaldo have come on and taken over as being the main striker.

Just asked myself what this will do for his Worldcup hopes? Surely Southgate should select him in place of the likes of Bowen if he keeps up this form.

Play Ole ball and he looks like peak Ronaldo Nazario
He's definitely one of the wingers/attackers in a counter attacking system in Europe. Stretched open spaces in big games are his bread and butter

He was generally quite poor I felt but got 2 goals and an assist.

If he’s going to continue as a forward in this team he’s going to have to start trying to close down space and not only press when its going to the keeper. So many times today he could have stopped Arsenals momentum by just trying to put a foot in but he was just standing watching them play around when he had clear chances to stop it.

Then Bruno running past him to chase people back or press. Then there is him not even challenging defenders for a ball. I know he’s scored but he needs to start adding a bit of what Jesus brought to Arsenal side today.

Hopefully his goals give him a bit more confidence and willingness to help the team more in pressing as he always plays like he is preserving energy now.

I have no issues with that. I have always thought Rashford was better on the left too.

He's been filling in the last few games and fans lose their mind. One of the alternatives is injured and the other is nearly 38 and looking 2 yards off the pace.

Agree with this a lot.

Two games at home against the scousers and Arsenal and he’s got 3 goals and an assist.

You simply can’t argue against that

He is much better as winger than CF, he offers almost nothing as CF but as a winger he makes lot of good runs. Ronaldo or Martial should be back so that he can move to wing.

Looks like EtH is impressed with Rashford, I thought there wasn't intensity in his game, he wasn't pressing and was doing a casual job but looks like EtH is impressed with his performance and his pressing.

Great in transition today. That is his bread and butter tbh. We may need to bench him vs low blocks but you cannot deny him against a high line and transitions.

3 goals and a assist in 2 big games.

Is there an argument that Sancho should be dropped in future big games? If we are going to play on transitions I can't see anything better than:

Rashford Martial Antony

Is that even a thing are have you just made that up? His performance thread says nothing of the sort so let's stop creating problems where they don't exist.

I think that's what ten hag is planning to do , especially if sancho's languid pace persists.

We could see something like :

Rashford Ronaldo Antony
(Sancho) (martial) (sancho)
Which is pretty decent, Sancho could play back up for both wings so there's that.
