He will never be a great technical player. He should be the kind of player who hurts teams without the ball. We give the ball to him and expect him to create by dribbling his man and doing stuff with the ball. It will never work. Our focus should be on getting him to make dangerous runs behind his man rather than dribbling past him.

Agree to an extend but people have been giving him far too many excuses. Perhaps he's simply not good enough?

Serious question.
If Rashford was playing for someone like Fulham or Watford, how many of our fans on here would be calling him potentially world class and someone we really need to look at signing?

Honest answers, please.

He's very average.

Tin hat, I personally agree with you...

However, LvG and Mourinho know more than me and you tbf

I dunno, he has moments of real quality interspersed with really bad spells. Can't recall the exact time, but he was the best player for England out on the flank, looked an absolute menace. Also the free kick he hit on Tuesday was gorgeous, about 3 inches from being as good if not better than Kroos' at the World Cup.

He clearly has technique, but for whatever reason hasn't developped at all. Definitely shouldn't bin him - would love to see what a proper coach would do with him - but also think we need an actual striker on the bench to give Lukaku a rest. And so far Rashford hasn't been good enough for that role.

My opinion has always been that he's bang average. But there can always a squad player role for him in the club. That's the problem right now, he has to do the job of a first team player and he's just not good enough

That's not saying much at all

Disagree!
They were/are world class coaches/managers

Agree!
I really don't see anything that makes me think he's a United quality type striker

He's been shite. His seems to have issues with his attitude.

Even if he's an England player. I'd like to send him on loan. Parts of me feels like he been a bit rushed.

I agree with you mostly, but to play devil’s advocate... if an English u21 player was scoring the winner at the Etihad, two goals at home to Liverpool, 2 at home to Arsenal, etc. then I think plenty of big clubs would be sniffing around him, regardless of his overall inconsistencies.

Calm down people, he's out of form and low on confidence. He had a poor game, but he got in the right places.

he needs to be working really hard on developing his ability to beat a man

too predictable and lacking composure on the ball

Have to bury those chances... there's no way we can trust him as the number 9. His all round game today was bad as well.

Man, this guy has played only 2 seasons. And he has played an important part in getting our 3 trophies after Sir Alex retired. Yeah he frustrates the hell out of me too, but it has been further exacerbated by the situation we as a club find ourselves in. We all want him to take the next step just like that, but not everyone grows at the same rate. Let's give him 2 years. At the end of it, if he has plateaued, then we can sell him or keep him as a squad option.

Interestingly, Madrid fans think the same about Asensio, who apparently vanishes in matches and consider him somewhat overrated.

Youngsters generally tend to be inconsistent. To be good at any profession takes time to learn and mature.

Depends how he performed there. I mean if he's able to beat Liverpool, MCity and Chelsea defenses as he did with us there then...

Sessegnon at Fulham is rated highly for fair reasons.

Probably the same way as Zaha at Palace.

He is too selfish. He misses too many chances. He is not a top quality striker.
Martial is a better plater.

Always comes short looking the ball at feet with his back to goal as if he is some sort of playmaker.

He should be playing on the shoulder looking for through balls

He's been out of form for a very long time now, to the point it's concerning.

He's been poor for most of the last two years. That's not because he's in bad form, and it's not because he's lacking confidence, it's because he's an average player.

He's been very good in parts last year, he's inconsistent and has flaws in his game. Being used as a utility player in a side that's struggling (by our standards) has not helped his game.

I think its far to early in his career to pigeonhole him as average.

I agree. Maybe a loan next season would help him?
I'm not sure, I don't know what sort of club would give him the game time he needs. Mourinho has been very patient with his form and I'm not convinced another club would afford him that sort of luxury.

Tried but bad game. Right to be subbed off.

Impressive level of patience here..
Fans are patient with him cause he's young, academy lad and because he's not the only one struggling.
Looking at his game objectively, he's very poor in a lot of areas.

I think his maximum potential is someone like Sadio Mane.

United will not send him on loan. Local lad, academy project, marketable, England international, and likely sell a lot of shirts.

We might as well sign Gary Barlow then.

Wouldn't be as quick, but would sell shirts and probably miss the target as much as Rashford.

Exactly, he’s too big and hasn’t got the close control of Messi, Hazard, Neymar. He should study Mbappe, Bale and too an extent Henry Who relies/relied on pure pace and explosiveness to get in behind and damage teams. Rashford will never “learn” how to beat 1,2 defenders as he gets older, but he can mold his overall attacking threat better. If he got hold of the ball, drew the full back in and knocked it around him into space and then ran onto it he would have much success. That goal Bale scored against Barcelona comes to mind.

His finishing is absolutely diabolical nowadays. He was so clinical aswell in 15/16.
