Put him or Martial up front. He's not so good on the wing. Not the worst but not effective enough.

Felt he was ok-ish in 1st half, but anonymous in the 2nd, like all our attackers

What needs to happen is we start playing with a front 3 of Rashers, Martial and Mkhi. In attack Pogba and Mkhi float in behind and around Rashford and Martial who will drift up front.

I agree - but won't happen with mourinho

He worked hard and was disciplined tracking back, but in attack he often looked awkward when trying to run with the ball.

He would have been an asset coming off the bench up front towards the end of the game. We could really do with Martial and Mkhitaryan coming back and clicking.

Looks better on the left when he plays outwide IMO. Did alright. He was especially good defensively tonight though. Didn't ever lose a runner. No coincidence that they tore us apart down our right when he went off. The defence relies on the wide men in Mourinho sides as he instructs his full backs to sit very narrow, right next to the centre backs to shore up the channels. We lost that when he went off.

He's okay for the final 15/20 minutes on the wing. But when played for a full game as a wide player, it's pretty clear he doesn't impact much. For full 90 minutes, he's much much better as a ST than he's as a wide player.
Anyway, he's getting game time. Every game especially these away games are vital for his development.

Did a great job today I thought, again a great sign of maturity to be that disciplined. Wasn't amazing going forward but he still looked more threatening than Zlatan and Pogba.

Not a winger.

I felt Pogba should of came off and Rashford moved uptop with Zlatan around 60ish min mark.

He's ice cool, but for the first time ever today he was playing like he was nervous.

That one great cross aside, he couldn't get involved much.

Agree though - he needs to play up front.

Did a job, which was the most important thing. Wen we get players fit (eg Martial, Mkhi), I wouldnt mind him being a sub for games like this then coming on for Zlatan.

I was a bit worried about him in the first half, he was rushing it and looked a bit overawed. But he improved as the game went on.

I'm convinced that had he started up top for us yesterday night, we would have been much more of a threat. There was so much room down the channels that we didn't exploit. Because our wingers were so deep from defending, we needed someone uptop who was going to exploit that space. Think Rashford would have given us that.

Him at winger reminds me of when Liverpool sometimes shunted Suarez out wide during his first couple of years. He'll be a B- or even B caliber winger, but his long term future is at striker.

I thought he was alright and the real problem for him offensively was that he had to do too much work at the back.

Poor game but he's a kid. Looks better being an impact sub. Great potential though and this game will be another big learning step in his development.

intrigued more posters on here didn pick up on the lack of options rashford had whenever he picked up the ball on the dribble. we know he likes to combine with his teammates and under LVG, even if he was in a wider position he still had good options around him. Yesterday was a defensively focused performance from the team. It showed in Rashford's performance and there's only so much a player can do when you're outnumbered and on the wing.

What do people expect? Every time Rashford got the ball on the right he immediately had three players surrounding him, and zero options ahead of him. You need to be a whole different level of pure winger to excell under those conditions.

His worst performance as a starter IMO. Looked nervous for once which is not something you generally associate with Rashford. He will learn from it i'm sure.

It's the problem with our youngsters like Rashford and Martial, considering their great debut season everyone expects them to keep that level forever but they are young and will have inconsistency in their play which includes having average or bad games. We certainly shouldn't lose our shit over the young lads having a couple of bad games every now and then.

Put Milner on his ass, for that I gave him an 8 straight away.

Mature performance considering the job asked of him and his inexperience. Not as much quality as he normally has but I think Mourinho will be over the moon with being able to trust a 19 year old to do a job like that.

He's been poor against Stoke at home, and I thought he was poor again against Pool.

He's an attacker, not a defensive winger. He's great coming on as a sub and running at defenses.

I'm not trying to be too harsh on him, but he needs to be benched really soon to be out of the light.

He could pass Milner, couldn't help Zlatan etc

He's still immature in his play, but that will come. He just needs to be more protected by Mou

It's really starting to piss me off this guy's development as a striker is being hindered because of a immobile 35 year old. I knew this would happen when we announced Zlatan's signing.

I'd rather have Ibra than Rooney. Rashford is playing a lot and by not being exposed as the number 9 put pressure off him

I thought he was definately our worst player in the first half but improved a bit in the second.

Agreed, he was way too pumped in the first half and had opportunities to cross but ended up losing the ball. Much better in the 2nd, retained the ball well but still didn't get at Milner enough for my liking. Valencia showed towards the end that Milner can't match the pace of Valencia/Rashford.

Personally would love to see him start on Thursday night up front, with Miki, Rooney and Lingard/Mata behind. Not a massive fan of him on the wing, unless it's off the bench.

It was a very mature performance from him defensively, Mourinho will have been delighted with it. Ideally I'd like t see him come of the bench in these game but Martial isn't capable of working as hard yet and Mkhitaryan isn't fit.

Hmm, pressure isn't a hinderence to Rashford going off his impact last season.. I feel his off performances on the wing will affect his confidence more in my opinion.

Prefer him on the right than the left. You can't judge him as a 'winger' based on yesterday's game where he was barely seeing the ball in advanced areas.
