Very good performance. He just gets better and better. Perfect time to get in form now that the games are very important. I'm excited too see how he'll develop these next couple of years. If he continues like this then it's going to be really fun to watch him play.

Perspective is always needed. He's a very talented footballer. But he's not at that level. I'd love him to be, but for me he'll come up short.
He already accomplished a lot more then Mbappe, over a longer period, in a way stronger league. I'd never switch him. He would probably destroy Ligue 1

Well that's really not true now is it. Unless you're saying it took Rashford longer, to score fewer goals.....?

Mbappe up for sale would attract every single top club on the planet. Rashford simply wouldn't.

He is a very very good footballer and I'm sure he'd score lots playing for the free-scoring French.

Be nice to see the lad nail down that centre forward berth and score a few if Ibra is out for a few matches.

I love him.

Won't big him up after this game though, as i remember a certain Memphis getting a hattrick against Club Brugge, a team on a similar level to Anderlecht.

I'm starting to truly believe he is really more of a central striker than a winger. The way he controls and dribbles the ball is more suited to someone who runs through the axle. He does not have the finesse required as a winger nor the touch.

In the French league. Now look at players with comparable number of goals in the French league..not really the creme de la creme. I doubt he could make that impression in the PL, especially in our team where most opponents sit very deep. Anyway, it's too early to say how they will pan out. There are so many unknown variables, psychological effects (just wait for a drought to happen in Mbappe's case, and wait how he'll react..), injuries, wrong choices regarding clubs. Rashford would attract every club on the planet, if there would be a slight indication that he is for sale. But every club in the world knows that they don't even have to try. Those two are definitely the best players under 20 right now...let's enjoy the coming years, and see where they are in 4,5 years.

Completely agree, huge fan of him, but on the wing he will not make it at United.

Of course he is. Still, to make it here as our main striker he needs to make more intelligent runs and he needs to improve his finishing. Both possible but neither are guaranteed.

I think his dribbling and touch is rather inconsistent than it is poor. In some matches he looked like Depay with his control and dribbling, too one paced , but in other matches like yesterday, his dribbling is just very good, good control, outplaying defenders, bursting into the space. Just like for England last time round, ran them ragged, they couldnt get a hold of him.

Hes come a long way this season, thats for sure. Love his mentality. Cant compare him to Mbappe though. Mbappe is a level above in terms of maturity and potential already. Hes on 22 goals for the season already and already among the top 10 all time french cl knock out scorers. Which is crazy to think about.

Rashford has definitely made me change my opinion on him though. Still dont think hes really cut out for being a lone striker, nor is he a winger, but his potential is huge and he has the perfect mentality to make it all the way.

He's shown a lot of strength recently, which is nice to see. It's probably something Jose in particular wants from him. It's also brilliant to see he's got his confidence back. what a goal can do for a player

Rashford has only played six times as a center forward according to whoscore whereas Mbappe has played 15 times. Put Rashford as a center forward in an attacking team like Monaco and he'll score loads as well.

That aside, I really don't like the comparison right now(and I know you didn't start it). Let's enjoy an homegrown player proper killing it here.

So proud of him. Never stopped running and gave it all on the pitch, United through and through. Big role for him to play in the next month or so.

I've never seen him play as well as that today, ok last season where he scored 2 against arsenal he finished well but his dribbling last night was crazy good I've never seen him beat so many players with trickery.

Loads of times he dropped a shoulder did a stepover and left his man on his arse, i didn't think he really had that in his locker but it looks like he has. So excited about him and also a little bit excited about the fact Ibra is injured and we have to start him and Martial now!

He never stopped running. What a player! Can't believe he is only 19 years old. He gives me hope. Best thing since Fergie retired.

He hasn’t had a very good season in terms of converting chances but to be fair none of our players did – even not Zlatan who is way more experienced and has played on top level for so many years!

But he keeps trying, fighting and every time he is on the pitch he gives his everything. That’s what I love about a player and Jose is the same. I even think Jose is more in love with Marcus than any of us. He is still very, very young and if he gets on a roll like last season his confidence in front of the goal will rise again and with games passing by he will gain experience and learn how to keep his cool. He’s got all the things you can’t learn (attitude, commitment and the pure willingness) all the other things (decision making, calmness in front of the goal etc.) are improvable over time. He has shown more than once that he is able to score goals against top teams (just ask Arsenal, Citeh and Chelsea) and even in very crucial situations (today, against Nordsjælland, Hull etc.). I am so glad that Jose trusts him.

We are always talking about how good Lukaku & Kane are (and they deserve the credit don’t get me wrong), however, in a few years’ time I can clearly see Rash being at least on the same level as they were when being in their early 20’s. Keep up the good work Marcus!!

He's come of age in the last few weeks. You can see that he's trained himself out of a tough patch and it shows a fantastic attitude and real maturity. He's going to be such a huge player for us.

Great mentality, great set of skills, young, Manc. We've hit jackpot here. Let's hope injuries don't haunt him like they did with Welbeck.

I'll admit i have been highly critical of him this season, but he has really come through the last couple of games. I'm not ready to bring out the champagne and banners just yet (erm Martial) but this looks really promising.

Also, i have to say Jose has surprised me regarding Rashford. Putting faith in a local (and at times struggling) lad is not his usual MO, but he has and now it seems that faith is being repaid

Missed a couple of sitters but kept his head up and remained composed for the winner. Time seemed to stand still when the ball fell to him but he didn't look fazed at all. Also that rabona.

Love how much confidence he has at the minute, he's unplayable at times.

If Zlatan's out, it's time for Rashford to shine. While he was very good in some regards last night, he also made a few mistakes with stuff that should come fairly natural for a striker. He fought for it though, and that's definitely something we've missed.

Completely different player when he plays CF and i honestly believe we are more threatening when he plays upfront. Only criticism is he tends to overhit the ball when dribbling quite often, just something which he needs to iron out.

Its nice to see 10 goals behind his name, next season should be even better.

Yet again, there's the myth that English players are overhyped being exposed; people seem intent on wanting to do down Rashford's achievements in a proper league, with the pressure of playing for one of the top 3 clubs in the world during a tough transitional period, while getting giddy over some kid from a bum league where players at decent clubs stay fresh enough due to the lack of attritional competition to shine in Europe.

British players are overpriced? Being black and French comes with the biggest premium football has ever seen; Pogba circa £90m, Martial £50m, Mangala £42m. Notice that none of them have done anything to justify those fees once they've had to actually play in a proper competitive league.

If Rashford was wearing a Dortmund or Monaco kit on some YouTube highlights compilation the same people who belittle his achievements would be worshipping him.

I was thinking this earlier. And I'm guilty of it myself. The press go so gaga over English players with a hint of promise there's always a nagging suspicion that the next bright young thing will turn out to be another Jack Rodwell. Plus the national team has been such a shambles for so long it's hard to take seriously the idea that anyone who plays for them will end up one of the best players in the world. I'm just trying to remind myself that sometimes England really does produce genuinely world class players. It is possible.

I'm convinced that if Rashford was not English and his career had gone exactly as it has gone so far we'd all be talking about another Ronaldo and future Balon D'Or winnner. But because of his nationality we're not letting our hopes get up. To have achieved so much at such a young age is incredible but it's the breadth and variety of his skills that is the most impressive of all. He's got everything in his locker. He really does remind me of watching Cristiano Ronaldo at the same age.

There, I've said it...

I never understood the notion that his technique was average. Happy to see him prove the doubters wrong, although I was personally never worried. Great to see a local Manc lad make it too.

Yeah, was loving his accent in the post-match interview. So much more special when the stars you watch on the screen sound like the fans you sit beside at games.

He's going to be a beast when he's 21/22 and he's packed on the muscle to fill out his frame.
Ronaldo and Henry at 19 were fast but a few years later they developed power pace, that feck you pace that has players bouncing off them and impossible to catch.
Hopefully Rashford develops in the same manner, right now he's rapid and his quick feet are getting him into dangerous positions but there's a bit more to come.
Mbappe has that same potential.

He was doing fullbacks in tight spaces last night. Starting to show he doesn't need acres of space to kick and run.

Sorry for the unpopular opinion, i'll probably get slaughtered but...

Is Rashford not massively overrated on here? All he's shown is he's just reliant on pace. His finishing isn't great and his dribbling isn't great, two things that are not likely to improve much at this stage of his career.

His work rate is fantastic, but that's a trait you could find in some players at any level of football.

I want to be excited about having a local youth & United fan leading our lines and scoring a bucket full of goals and bringing back the glory days but if I'm being honest, I haven't seen anything massively exciting yet.

He's not on that level and probably never will be.

Though I'll freely admit that he'd score a hatful if he played in that Monaco side.
Dembele might be a better prospect but I watch Dybala every weeknd and he isn't better than Rashford especially considering their age, Dybala's 5 years older. Mbappe let's see how he does next season.

So finishing can't be improved? Everything can be improved if player applies properly in the training, even shooting from distance.
