Manchester United vs Wrexham (Wed 26th July, 03:30 UK time)

I watch every United game televised whether its 1st XI Reserves or kids. Its part of being a fan. So what if its pre-season. Don't care. It is Manchester United

Damn, this is a bit late/early even when it's holiday.

Damn. There was a full on ad for this game with Sir Alex and Wrexham's owners. I'd feel a bit cheated if I booked a ticket months in advance and then see that squad from United.

They shouldn't, Utd said from the start that we'll play a youth team.

Was obvious with the Real Madrid game a day later that this would be a fringe team.

This is really a part of Wrexham's pre-season rather than United.

Wouldn't have been fair if they played ETHs first 11. Would serve no purpose to either teams.

That's a really boring setup of players. I doubt I will watch it now.
There's a chance those players will also be added to by some of the fringe players who won't feature v Madrid, I guess - so, depending on the plans for that game, some from the likes of Fernandez, Gore, Hannibal, Forson, VDB...

Although there's 15 there, including 2 keepers, so I guess we could just have 4 subs and play most of them for 90 minutes as we would in a normal U21 game. And with the likes of Elanga leaving the main tour to join Forest, and Amad's injury, I guess there's more chances for the others to get some time v Madrid?

I'm definitely setting my alarm to watch it, as I enjoy watching the youth matches in a different, less stressful, way to the first team games. I was hoping for a stronger line up but I'll still be interested to see how, especially, the likes of Harrison, Aljofree, Kambwala, Collyer, Oyedele and Hansen perform in a comparatively high profile game for them.

Good point. You won me over. I'll set the alarm.

That stupid video promo annoys me more than it should. Most of all, how did SAF agree to play this moronic part insinuating he won't say a word seeing they're on mute...

I thought it was funny, especially if you consider what football clubs usually put out.

Jeez, chill. It’s just a bit of fun.

It's possible some of the fringe players like VDB who didn't get minutes at Arsenal go to the Wrexham game isn't it? 15 feels short for a game anyway as we won't have a 4 man bench

Quite happy with the kickoff time, I won't be even remotely tempted to watch it.

It’s the midnight and 1am KO times that tease you innit? I know exactly what you mean

Half past 3 in the morning, it’s not even a decision.

Exactly! The Real game the following night is at one of those tempting times and I know full well I don’t need to watch it, but I know I’ll end up staying awake only to fall asleep 15 minutes into it anyway.

What is it with having a friendly before another friendly within a day? It happens again when we play lens at OT and then Bilbao in Ireland.

Didn't it say in announcement article months ago that it will be youth/academy players against Wrexham, why are people upset and were expecting first teamers?

it was stated back in march (27th) that.....

Manchester United will play Wrexham AFC at Snapdragon Stadium, San Diego as part of the club’s 2023 summer tour taking place in the United States.
This is the first match of Tour 2023 to be announced after United revealed last week that Erik ten Hag and his squad will travel to the US in preparation for the 2023/24 season.

A youth-focused team drawn from United’s travelling squad, supplemented by Academy prospects, will take on Wrexham AFC on Tuesday 25 July, as part of a week-long training camp in San Diego......

Yeah, lovely long read from the fella who has just spunked a load of cash on a youth team game - but Utd were pretty clear.

Also we are playing Wrexham. Multiple hundred dollars on any Utd team playing Wrexham...Grim

This guy disagrees

United said they will select a team that is "youth-focused" from the squad picked to prepare for the new season on their tour of the United States.

"This will be the first time the team has visited San Diego, and we are looking forward to playing in front of our passionate US fans at the Snapdragon Stadium," said John Murtough, United's football director. "Pre-season tours are always a great occasion to give opportunities for our most promising young Academy players to gain valuable experience in the first team environment, and this match against Wrexham AFC is a great example of that.

"Manchester United has a history of nurturing and promoting youth and this is a chance for not only Erik but also our US supporters to assess the homegrown talent that is developing within our academy, and hopefully to be able to say, 'I saw him here first,' if some of those players go on to establish themselves as first team regulars."

From the day it was announced

Fair. Wish that guy would've read it though.

Yeah it's unfortunate for those who didn't and thought they'd see a full strength side like but it definitely wasn't hidden that it would be a youth side out

I'm looking at going to the Lens game with the kids, but I'd like to know if it's the first team there or if they will be in Dublin.

What's the pettiest thing you've seen someone on the caf complain about?
Kickoff times for preseason games played in US. Asian fans watch a whole season, especially CL and EL games at silly kickoff times on a working day. Preseason is what a handful of games.
