Manchester United vs. Wigan Athletic

ITV even managed to cut short the raising of the shield

The captain raises it, hands it to the new manager and gives it to our youngest player.

That is Manchester United.

That last handshake from Moyes in the directors box was chuckle worthy. The bloke wasn't expecting Moyes to extend his hand. I need a gif.

Moyes did look a bit uncomfortable holding the shield. He did say that he considered this trophy to be one of Fergie's as it was Fergie who got them there, so it's understandable he didn't milk the moment. I think it's promising that he's almost shrugging off the shield and setting his sights on more important silverware. Good on him.

It is heartwarming to see Giggs talking to Januzaj, it seems like the senior players are taking good care of him.

Saw him play in preseason and really think he will be able to make the first team in the near future. Got loads of technical ability and just needs to add a bit more strength. Could be the replacement for Rooney should he decide to leave.

This feckwit interviewer keeps asking players about the odds in the bookies.

I think every single interviewer that has interviewed a United player in the past 3 months has gone on about the fact the bookies see them as inferior to Chelsea and City this season!

He went so long without trophies he started nicking them!

I don't think it benefited the Community Shield as a curtain raiser for a Championship side to be involved today, for Wigan the match couldn't but be seen as a tad inconvenient after all. However with these occurrence remaining relatively rare i doubt they'll elect to change matters.

We didnt create much, we looked to be in second gear for most of the game. Anderson adds more to our team than Cleverly. I think we will still be reliant on RVP goals.
