Manchester United vs. Wigan Athletic

We started the game rather well, dominated the first 30 minutes or so, though wigan were probably the better side in the last 15 minutes.

First half an hour was fine. Then the 1-0 man utd sit-back-and-do-nothing-when-the-other-team-isn't-pressing syndrome kicked in.

Hopefully Moyes pulls out one of his rape faces during the interval and scares them into playing some nice stuff again.

"So that's half-time. Next, we'll have the views of Drongo, Bongo and Mongo. Don't go away."

*goes away*

Very controlled so far. We're not playing enough progressive football though. The game has drifted for long periods without us creating much. We need a few pointers at half time so we can find our threat again.

Let's give Wigan some more problems.

That was a terrible half of football to be honest. Terrible atmosphere as well but the players aren't giving them anything to shout about. Zaha getting double teamed when he gets the ball so he can't make much of an impact.
Shame Rafael got injured, the main thing we were hoping for in this game was to be injury free.vlooks to have pulled his hamstring which is probably him out for a month.

Vidic looks scrawny. Hit the fecking gym and bulk up Nemanja!
He dropped a few pounds to help with his knee problems. Pretty sure this is the condition he wants to be in at this point.

Interesting to think, that if Vidic decides to knock Holt out during the second half there'll be no suspension from it. Hmmm!

I'm just glad football is back.If it's boring to you ,go watch something else.

Moaning about the game because its been shit. Not really much to take from that half of football is there.

It's more to do with Wigan, that five minute period when they kept on pointlessly passing between center backs was surreal.

Is a glorified friendly against a post-Martinez Wigan not quite the spectacle we were all expecting?

Decent first half, a case of it being too comfortable and so the players slowed the game a bit much. Also missing a fair few of the more creative players, little more injection of urgency would be nice. Still players showed they're quite sharp in terms of link up and controlling things.

Not really doing anything but still winning. Moyes really IS Fergie MK2.

The thing is, the exact same people would be moaning if we were winning 3-0.

"It's only the Charity Shield, which is a glorified friendly and we're against Wigan, who are in the Championship." blah blah blah. Just give over.

Well, may I ask what you were expecting to see? Sydney Opera House, perhaps? The Hanging Gardens of Babylon? Herds of wildebeasts swinging majestically...

Looked to me that he took a knock to his calf? hopefully he was just taken off more for precaution than anything else.

Pretty boring, I'd like to see some more urgency in our play. Even though it's a glorified friendly. And let's not give away too many silly free kicks around the box, they're a genuine threat from set pieces.

On another note, can I just say how happy I am that Grant Holt isn't a Premier League footballer anymore? Everytime he's near the ball I fear for the safety of our defenders. Such a brain dead lump.

A bit disappointed that Cleverley hasn't show much improvement since breaking into the team.

Rafael already out injured. Really unfortunate for him because he just seems to injury prone and after last season I thought he would was physically able to handle it. Seems not.

That tackle from Giggs. Even if that's the only thing he could teach to all our youngsters, I would say he'd leave a legacy in our club future.
