Barring any injury news that I've not heard about I'd expect the following line-up from Spurs:

    --------- Lloris
    Walker - Dier - Vertonghen - Rose
    ------ Mason - Bentaleb
    Townsend - Eriksen - Chadli
    ------------- Kane

Although Lamela instead of either Chadli or Townsend is a possibility.

If we don't beat that team...

we simply have to win......our season is riding on this

win and we will go to Anfield with confidence and 2 points behind City

lose and I can see us finishing the season horribly with lots of draws and defeats....

in the league we've won our last 2....we need to keep the run going

hoping to see a good solid attacking and defensive performance for the first time in ages

I feel strangely confident about this one.

I feel even more strange having to say that about Spurs at Old Trafford.

we let them off the hook at WHL in that first half - a nice early goal and we will beat them comfortably

It's been a while we lost by 2 goals

Yeah, in all competitions the last time we lost by two or more goals at home was 25th March 2014 against Manchester City (lost 3:0). The last time we lost by two or more goals away was 21st September 2014 against Leicester City (lost 5:3).

Tottenham Hotspur last lost by two or more goals at home on the 31st August 2014 against Liverpool (lost 3:0). The last time they lost by two or more goals away was 26th February 2015 against Fiorentina (lost 2:0).

As for the other top four rivals:
    Arsenal:
    Home - lost 3:1 to Monaco (25th February 2015)
    Away - lost 2:0 to Southampton (1st January 2015)

    Liverpool:
Home - lost 3:0 to Real Madrid (22nd October 2014)
Away - lost 3:0 to Manchester United (14th December 2014)

I've gone for 1-2 to Tottenham. Our defence is so shaky it just puts the whole team on edge, an see Eriksen having a lot of joy.

Well, you can ignore the remaining fixture list if you want to ... but that won't make it disappear. And if you want to focus on the first half of the season, then you might also take into account the large number of extra games that Spurs played in all competitions compared to United: it's a lot easier to do well in the league when that's more or less your only focus.

These fewer games didn't seem to help spurs at any point in the last 20 years though.

Maybe its not so easy afterall?

Maybe not having all the superstars available is what we need. A big game from Rooney with decent service from the rest is all we need in attack. Add in some better than disastrous defending and that should do the job. Just no hoofing or incessant sideways passes.

If Rojo is unfit, does anyone reckon Blackett or Blind will be playing centre back?

Smalling-Jones are the logical option but Van Gaal always shocks me with his strange sense of logic.

    We could have a defense of;

Rafael - Smalling - Jones- Shaw
    or
Valencia -Jones, Smalling Blind - Young

Maybe I'm being paranoid, I just can imagine a normal selection without Rojo/Shaw being fit.

I think this is key, problem is, we don't know how to score in the first half anymore.

there's been a couple of games we've started very well but then faded quickly - we've started with pace and intensity then dropped into our normal slow possession based game

I think it's important we are able to play with intensity for long periods through the game rather than slip into our controlled possession game and Spurs seemed happy with a draw in the game at their place

Anything but a win today and it's all about the Europa league for us.

    Win win win

Must win, no excuses, can be really huge with the upcoming days. Can see Pool dropping points tomorrow and then Arsenal - Pool on the next matchday. We will get rid of Spurs too if we beat them, so just get it done please.

Rooney arrived with his wash bag, so he looks like he'll start. I thought that he would be missing if he really had suffered concussion.

Rooney got knocked out before the Sunderland game, then he went on to score for the first time in ages, he even scored two.

If we lose this then we can kiss goodbye to finishing in the top four.

For some reason Spurs have sort of become our bogey team, which is very annoying considering our previous record against them.

As others have said, this is a must win, but I am anything but confident.

    352?

Or Mata in the wide area in a 4411?

    De Gea
    Valencia - Smalling - Jones - Blind
    Mata - Herrera - Carrick - Young
    Fellaini
    Rooney

Happy Mata is back, annoyed Valencia is still playing.

Di Maria could have shone in this game if he hadn't been an idiot.
