Its hard to believe that United have not won a CL knockout match since April 2011.

Hopefully some champions league football will be a welcome relief from league football. Rooney will be back, RVP will be rested. We only need a draw but no point playing for one, lets take the game to them.

--------------------De Gea-----------------------

Rafael---------Smalling------Evans---------Buttner (hope Fabio plays though!)

---------------Jones---------Anderson------------
----------------------Fellaini---------------------

Januzaj---------------Rooney--------------Welbeck (or Kagawa if fit)

Not really. The next season we didn't make it out of the groups and last season were knocked out (unfairly, yes I know) by Madrid. So we've only played two knockout games since then.

Yeah I dont mean its hard to believe in terms of the amount played compared to lost/won I mean the actual time since they won one, as in I still think of United as in consecutive finals and in the semis with us.

Oh right. Yeah I know. The good old days aye!

Fellaini in no.10? God no, then we'd officially complete our transition to Moyes' Everton.

De Gea
Rafael--Ferdinand--Smalling--Evra
Fellaini--Giggs
Valencia--Kagawa--Januzaj
Rooney

I'm never really that fussed about finishing first or second in the group as I have seen rough draws for teams who finish first. But I'm pretty sure all the 'big' clubs in Europe are topping their groups this season, so I think it's vital we get through this game top of the group. And that will be a boost for Moyes.

A quick comparison between the (likely) clubs finishing first and second, not counting English clubs who we can't play.

First: Madrid, PSG, Bayern, Atletico, Barca
Second: Juve, Olympiacos, Basel/Schalke, Dortmund/Napoli, Zenit, Milan/Ajax

Finish second and you're fecked basically. Even in first you can still get Juve or Dortmund, so nothing is guaranteed.

But Juventus are shit in europe and Dortmund can still win the group.

Anyway.....we must win the group!!!!!!!!!!!

3-0 win. Its the champions league, moyes is doing well in places we didnt expect him to.

I think we may lose this one as the management's focus will undoubtedly be on trying to arrest the situation in the league. I don't think we will play most of our "first teamers" in the Moyes era. We could see quite a few surprises in terms of team selection.

I will be happy with whatever result provided that the players put on a performance befitting a SAF's United

DDG
Rafael
Smalling
Evans
Fabio ()
Jones
Anderson (save Giggs for PL)
Nani
Rooney
Januzaj
RVP

Moyes said in the press conference, that Kagawa was training today and will be ready for tomorrow. He also said there were "one or two injuries" he has to look at.

De Gea
Rafael--Ferdinand--Evans--Buttner
Jones--Giggs
Valencia--Kagawa--Januzaj
Rooney

Subs: Lindegaard, Fabio, Cleverley, Nani, Welbeck, van Persie, Hernandez

I wouldn't start van Persie after he played 90 mins vs Newcastle. Rest him and I'm not sure if I'd even have him on the bench.

Word of warning for anyone driving up to Old Trafford tomorrow, quite a lot of people have been picking up 3 points there lately.

Badum-tish.

De Gea
Rafael Ferdinand Evans Fabio
Jones Giggs
Nani Rooney Januzaj
van Persie

I'd personally like to see Nani play still, as he is one the players who can win a game with a kick, I'd rather us play him into form than Valencia, rest of the team picks itself IMO, unless you switch Rio for Nemanja

de Gea
Rafael Rio Evans Buttner
Jones Anderson
Nani Rooney Welbeck
van Persie
Buttner in since Evra is injured(altough I would like to see Fabio, but it's never gonna happen).

What I want:

De Gea

Rafael Evans Vidic Fabio

Jones Anderson

Nani Kagawa Januzaj

Rooney/Hernandez

What we'll get:

Smalling - Ferdinand - Evans - Buttner

Valencia - Rooney - Kagawa
Hernandez

There's a real lack of interest in this it seems

Just win lads - grab a few goals if you can

Can't wait. Feels weird after our recent disappointing displays, but I guess I just want the team to move on and bounce back as soon as possible. I also feel quite optimistic... Rooney will link our play much better than RvP did on Saturday. Just hope none of Valencia/Welbeck/Young plays on the wings and Buttner doesn't start at left-back, which seems inevitable though. Come on United!

de gea, smalling, ferdinand, evans, buttner, me, feck knows, anderson?, januzaj, rooney, hernandez.

1-0 shahktar.

The sanctuary of the Champions League, at least I can relax watching this one.

A draw means that we'll top the group, so I would take it. But a win is always sweet and it would probably raise the confidence which likely is on all time low. So, going for 3-1 victory.
