Manchester United vs Shakhtar Donetsk

I'd quite like it if for the second half we pretended that side of the pitch with Buttner and Young didn't exist. At the least it'd be a good training exercise

Well that was crap. So pedestrian once again. Having two wingers constantly looking to come inside isn't helping and Kagawa needs to get involved in the game higher than the halfway line. Evans looks like the only one trying to inject pace into the game. That's a damning indictment of the rest.

Tad harsh on Rooney and Adnan who ran their balls off that half.

Pretty much zero improvement so far, you could probably argue we look even worse.

kouroux, you're better than this...matchday thread is getting the better of you...
Oh come on, he's set up Rooney perfectly, it was him who took fecking ages to do it. Agree with the latter though.

Perhaps I'm a tad too harsh on him but he really should be trying to shoot it. His entire gameplan screams of "playing it safe".

We aren't playing well or anything. But when did this become an easy game?

They havent qualified yet.

Honestly, it should be "easy", at home against a not amazing side. Their main rivals for qualification are the side we beat 5-0 in one of our better moments this season. That's not the point, though. We're playing terribly. I was laughing because the suggestion was so ridiculous, yet it is (or was, at least we had a few changes later) what was happening.

Been over 250 minutes since we last scored a goal... Shocking. That's not including the time added on for games either.
Since Rooneys 57th minute penalty against spurs.

Hate to say this but I don't see Moyes lasting this season. The player look utterly devoid of confidence.

I like Moyes and I do think he's been let down by some of our senior players.
It's just not happening for him.

I've said it a couple of times in recent weeks. If this was any other club out size, the manager would be gone.

At same time I am glad that the club isn't like others though

Fortunately Shakhtar can't shoot for shit otherwise we'd be a few down. Couple of decent chances for Young but overall we have simply been outplayed and look lost.

Nah, the wingers coming inside wouldn't be a problem if we could, y'know, pass the ball. It's such a basic thing, I don't quite get it why we're so bad at it.

I just don't understand why Young left it onto his weak foot rather than curling it in with his right?

Still, least he's fecking trying our patience.

Fixed.

Why the feck was Young bought?
And why the feck isn't he sold yet?

He basically had one move for Villa. Left wing, cut inside, shoot outside the box, top corner. However that one move would bring out at least 3 opposition players, and was worth buying for that. Given we had no left wing.

But I wish we hadnt bought him,

Only in the last few minutes, Shaktar have had about 8 shots on target already whereas we have had only a couple. They are the more dangerous and should we score, it could be against the run of play to be honest.

Rooney free-kick, Young with two decent chances and Adnan have all had potential goal-scoring attempts. Apart from that run and shot that dribbled past the post they have just been having long shots on target, nothing dangerous. Very much game on for me, certainly not "shit".

Confidence at an all time low. We have to support the lads, but they've got to find some bollocks tonight. We've had enough possession and done nothing worthwhile with it. It's a real struggle for us to pose a threat once we cross the half way line. Shaktar on the other hand have been pacy and creative, just as we expected. They should have taken the lead before us. We're lucky that some poor defending hasn't been punished.

There's too many players out there afraid to shoot or lacking conviction in the final third. We just can't buy a goal at the minute.

Buttner is dog shit. And Young is cat shit, which is worse and stinks more.

You could get Nani to do that, feck it you could get Obertan to do that with the same quality.

Until some quality comes in, Rooney or Kagawa must play in midfield. There is no other way. Without Carrick we are a below average team.

A perfect assessment of the chances but according to lads here we should be 2 nil down.

This place sometimes.

Running into a congested area of the pitch is never a great idea.
