Manchester United vs Lens (Sat 5th August, 12:45 UK time)

Everybody is going to hate me for saying this, but this is a classic Oleball win. Two counter-attacks and one set piece. Mind you I have only seen the highlights, not the whole game so might be wrong.
We can't be a 100% possession based team that is allergic to counter attacks when we have so many quick players up front.
We're tried to be a tiki taka team under Van Gaal where he was reportedly shouting at Herrera for shooting instead of keeping the pass sequence, the result was a tiki crappa.

Our transitions are incredibly fast which is what you expect with the way ETH wants to play and how his teams have played in the past

I don't think the main problem people had with Ole was the football tbh. It was more his complete lack of spine and favoritism/refusal to drop players. Also, the signings.

Shaw reminds us from time to time why he's the most talented player in the squad.

Good effort from Bruno there

Casemiro's brilliant but you can see why we want some competition for him, tends to lose focus the longer a game wears on.

United are trying to play out from the back. The problem in the first half was lack of movement infront of the defenders. Oles teams sat deep and relied purely on pace with counter attacks. This united team want to dominate possession and shift the ball quickly. Nothing like an ole team. It just doesn't always work... yet.

We're still adapting to this whole playing out from the back lark.

A few weeks ago. His non GIF posts were shocking.
I didn't see that many of his non GIF posts. Most of them that I saw were just him saying all of our players were bad. I guess he was saying others things that I didn't see.

He provided a good service to the forum. Will miss the GIFs.

Are we expecting the team that started the game today to be the one that starts against Wolves?

Didn't notice this earlier, but do Lens players really have the McDonald's sponsorship on their buttcheeks?

Well ETH himself said he wants us to be best in transition. The difference between Ole ball and Ten Hag ball is ETH wants us to play higher, with a higher line, sweeper keeper, pressing high up. And we want to invite a press to play through that. As opposed to Ole who would defend deeper to be able to counter.

Not that he had a choice with DDG in goal.

Not too concerned about this...it's fine. Good workout. We're not playing mugs out there. They're a good side.

RB is going to be a real problem position this year. Both have their pros and cons. Not much we can do for now. You'll see them alternate quite a bit depending on opposition

Most wins against a high-press will look like this as it's the easiest way to score against them.

Wonder how Guardiola managed it with Aguero, Same and Sterling in his attack. Truly a magician
