Manchester United vs. Blackburn Rovers

I won't be on the lookout whilst I'm there, I'm just so excited to be going!

Apparently it's only 2 hours on the train from London Euston to Manchester Piccadilly, I'm going to get there about half 12 so I can get into the atmosphere of it all before it starts - it might be a bit shit seeing as it's hardly a big game but I don't care, I'm just elated to be there for once!

So it's time for Bishop Blaize, MrsG. ;)

I dunno where we'll be going yet, but I know the guy I'm going with likes his beer so we could be heading to a few pubs beforehand. I'm not much of a beer drinker so either I just order it anyway and wince my way through it or I risk getting laughed at and mocked by ordering my usual white wine spritzer.

According to SAF: Fletch out of tommorow, Scholes is doubt(groin)

If you're getting into Piccadilly go downstairs and jump on the tram and the Alty line gets you to Trafford Bar which is opposite The Tollgate. Only a 15 min walk to the ground and not too bad to get served at.

Ah shite. That's another afternoon of laboured midfield play and toiling in front of opposition banks of four. Let the huffing and puffing begin...

 that's extremely negative but so true.

So it's Carrick and either O'Shea, Giggs or Anderson in central midfield then.

I'm hoping to see:

VDS
Rafael Ferdinand Vidic Evra
Nani Carrick Anderson Giggs
Rooney Hernandez

Would like to see Carrick and Giggs in CM if Scholes and Fletcher are out.

either anderson or gibson will have to come in if Scholes is out.

I'd be surprised if Giggs starts after his 90 minutes on Wednesday. Another start for Park or possibly Obertan I think.

Im on the train for a change from Euston to Manchester. Normally im on the coach or car etc, but as just about every game tomorrow is a 3pm kick off, i know what the M1 is going to be like. I travel up about 6:30 am so i can xmas shop, have fry up in town etc :D before going to the Tollgate. Back in london on the 6pm train and sometimes it only takes 1hr 30 mins to get back to london

This man talks sense. Ive been going to the Tollgate for years. I'll be with a few caf members aswell, like Boothy etc. If you're after a ticket, you may have a good chance of getting one here. Its one metro station stop before Old trafford and is about a 10 minute walk to the ground aswell. Its a great pub.

----------------VDS----------------

Rafael------Rio-------Vidic-------Evra

Nani-----Anderson---Carrick------Park

------------Rooney--Berbatov--------

Anderson in case that Fletcher and Scholes are out.
Rooney will definitely start.

I think the substitutions of Scholes, Nani, and Berbatov against Rangers probably pointed towards them all starting this one, but now Scholes is a doubt so the central midfield is a bit of a worry.

van der Sar
Rafael Ferdinand Vidic Evra
Nani Carrick Giggs Park
Berbatov Rooney

I think we could see something like that. Giggs and Anderson will probably be required to play some kind of 60/30 split of the game due to fitness but it's a coin toss to decide who starts. Park could play central at some stage, or we could not start Berbatov or Rooney and play Hernandez as part of a front three, but we tend to not do that at Old Trafford.

Or, maybe SAF will tell Rooney that since he's on 200k+ a week, he can play on the fecking left wing tomorrow and like it.

I think we'll win this one but I expect it to be a bit of a bore. 1-0 or 2-0, like the Wigan game.

It's a home game, I really hope to not see Park (yes I know he won us a home match recently but still).I'm tired of seeing the same things over and over again.
Please let there be a convincing performance

Can't see him playing Giggs or Scholes again, Raf, Rio, Vidic and Evra were rested so we may play those 4, Ando and Gibson in midfield. Feel sure he'll rest Nani so Obertan and Park will presumably be playing, although Bebe might be a good idea on the wing against Blackburn.

Van der Sar (or Kuszczak if fit)
Rafael Ferdinand Vidic Evra
Obertan Gibson Ando Park(Bebe)
Berbatov Rooney

There's no reason for Giggs not to play as he's been out 6 weeks and needs the game time, I am also certain Rooney and Berbatov will start up top and I think Anderson will start with Carrick in midfield despite the West Ham game coming up on Tuesday.

SKYSPORTS

Prediction: 2-2

SKY BET odds: Man Utd 2/9, Draw 5/1, Rovers 12/1

One to Watch: Morten Gamst Pedersen

Giggs has just played 90 mins....less than 3 days ago too. He did say (2 or 3 years ago now) that it takes him a week now to fully recover between matches. Same for Scholes.

Hope Anderson gets a start. Despite the fact he cannoned all of his short passes way too hard against Rangers, he did look reasonably sharp, and should be able to provide that extra bit of craft/guile we need when Scholes is out.

We're really overdude a comfortable win with 3 or 4 goals.

That makes me smile. I like that fact we have become such underdogs, much like when the papers predicted us to finnish 5th and we ended up winning the league.

But we must face it, we suck. We haven't lost since april, man we are poor. :D

Subs: Amos, Smalling, Fabio, Gibson, Giggs, Macheda, Hernandez

Might try that, not sure where we're going pre-game yet though.

You'll be on a lot earlier train than me then! I need to get to London from Essex first which takes me just less than an hour with all the annoying different routes I have to take etc. I'm hoping to get to Manchester by about half 12, so that means around half 10ish from Euston.

I'm hoping to get the 5.35 train back after the game from Piccadilly - but that might be ridiculously optimistic to hope! It'll mean getting out of OT pretty sharpish after the game and getting on that train that goes from OT (which will prob get incredibly busy). It'll mean getting back to Essex by about half 11, which is better than if I get the 6pm train, which even though shorter to London would mean being stranded at midnight somewhere about 15 miles from my house.

Have you not thought about one of the united supported coaches that go from Essex? Might be an idea for the future. Cost about £25 return.

I don't have much information about that, no idea where it goes from. Would be much cheaper if I could make it!

I think the list and contact numbers and email addresses are on MANUTD.COM somewhere. Also the back of the year book. I use the London branch alot and a few friends use Hertford, hitch, Stevenage and Luton branches and they all find them ok.

It's probably too late to book that now. I've got a 16-25 railcard so the whole journey from my local station to Manchester and back is costing about £58 at the moment, which is ok considering I'm going 200 miles or so. £25 would be amazing, but I really don't know anything about this coach.

Could we please see an early goal for us!! Feels like it was ages ago we performed well in a first half.

i love your positive attitude about anderson saying he looks sharp despite not beeing able to pass the ball 5 yards

I think and hope its scholes and carrick in the middle...I dont think anderson is ready and dont think gibson should play at all! Not a fan of his

Would love to see hernandez and rooney up front
