UEFA Champions League Quarter Final 1st Leg
Tuesday1st April
K/O 19.45

It's Groundhog Day really, isn't it?

Convincing win against a mid to lower table Premiership side before we head into our 'biggest game of the season'.

We've invariably lost badly on all the other occasions, so i'm holding no hope for this one.

(A pessimist is never disappointed)

Let's shock the world and at least get a draw!

Screw the likes of @Cina hoping we get thrashed!

But Buttner and Rafael up against the likes of Ribery and Robben are rather large concerns I have.

Lines like this are as bad as posters hunting other posters down, who still defend Moyes. It's not really what was said by Cina either, but that wasn't really your angle here, was it?

De Gea
Jones Carrick Ferdinand Buttner
Fellaini Fletcher
Januzaj Kagawa Welbeck
Rooney
Is what I would go for. Fellaini would just be a red card waiting to happen in this game, they'd pass it around him. Play him in the small games but keep him away from any big games. Pretty solid, well balanced team if you ignore the defence that. Would have loved for Nani to pick up form before this and to start on the left but he's nowhere to be seen.

0-3 is my prediction...

Edit: With the injury news, we're well and truly fecked
Januzaj can be good, have him in alongside that front 4. Jones can potentially put in a good performance against Ribery but it's still the robben v Buttner match him which will wreck us.

So possibly no Rafael or Valencia. Is Smalling fit?

Rafa is forever injured. Don't think Smalling is fit.

So possibly have to put Jones at RB and Carrick with Vidic in central defense with Buttner on the left. Which would mean one of Cleverley/Fellaini will definitely need to start in midfield.

Should be fun. :wenger:

Bugger. Carrick was solid in defense today though, in fact we were arguably better with him. Probably going to be him there again with Jones at RB. Reckon we'll see Giggs in midfield.

On another note, here are Bayern's subs today:

Neuer, Lahm, Alaba, Javi Martinez, Muller, Robben, Mandzukic

We've got this one in the bag.

God, I really hope he's back. Could have a back four of Jones/Rio/Vidic/Buttner with no sub defenders at all.

So, with the latest news...

de Gea

Jones Vidic Carrick Buttner

Giggs Cleverley(?)

xxx Kagawa Welbeck

Rooney

Erm, yeah.

I can see him starting Fellaini as a no.10. I really can. He's rarely played Kagawa as a no.10. Don't think he's going to start now.

At this stage I see nothing but a damage limitation, sadly.

Just hope we give all we got instead of playing negative, defensive football.

Anyone who portrays United getting thrashed as a good thing is not something to be forgotten easily. But I guess there's another thread for that discussion.

Yet you bring it up in this one.

Not really what I said though, is it?

I find you an amazing source of amusement though, so do carry on.

Big Dave
Jones - Carrick - Vidic - Buttner
Giggs - Fletcher - Fellaini
Kagawa - Rooney - Welbeck
