Manchester United vs. Arsenal

Wilsheres tackle was worse than the Scholes one. neither got a yellow.

We beat them with a second string.

Rooney was on fire, the twins, Valencia, Gibson improvement ongoing, loads of positives today.

I wonder if Pete can explain why Little jack did not shit all over our shite Gibson.

Arsenal, fecking hell.

So many positives from the game. Hopefully, we'll play at the same level vs Marseille.

Anyone else find Arsenal boring? They don't know how to counter attack. The so-called "pretty" football isn't even that pretty.

Gareth Southgate can feck off - he says Vidic is immense but doesn't mention Smalling who broke up EVERY Arsenal attack*

* attack = passing it around aimlessly in front of the United defense.

I really don't understand the Arsenal ********. Did you see our team today? two 20 year olds and a 22 year old in midfield and they showed Arsenal what it means to play for a team.

Couldn't ask for more from a team with a makeshit midfield, Smalling, Vidic, Rooney, Hernandez, the twins and VDS all stepped up for us.

BBC

From anonymous Arsenal fan via text: "Two cup defeats with Birmingham's Ben Foster and now Van der Sar man of the match! When are we going to come up against a keeper like ours?"

Best performance of the season. Fletcher, Carrick, Berbatov all have a fight on their hands to get back in the side

Twins were fantastic. Really loved watching them today. We've got two real gems with them, so lucky to have them.

Rooney was playing like we all know he can today too, just do it every game please!

Vidic and Smalling complete tanks at the back.

Good win - off to Wembley!

Yeah, but that'd shatter the grand narrative the media have concocted when reporting on Arsenal. God knows the media don't like to be shown up as unknowledgeable.

I've always maintained that we're a more entertaining team than Arsenal. We attack with precision, pace, directness and end product. And we can keep the ball too when we need too. Of course I'm talking about the United philosophy and not individual matches/seasons.

And we defend like defending is meant to be done.

Thought we were really poor in the first half, couldn't believe we managed to go in 1-0 up - Smalling was outstanding, Gibson dreadful. Our only tactic was for VDS to hoof it long.

Second half we were much better. Rooney left, Rafael central and Valencia coming on made us much better and more balanced. Valencia, especially, gave us an outlet that just wasnt there in the first half. He looked really good too, couldn't have timed his return any better.

Arsenal will kick themselves that they didnt win, considering the line up we had to pick.

(I would like to thank Arsenal for buying me my ticket today - had £2 on 2-0 today and £3 on 3-1 Barca on Tuesday; was £33 up after my first bets of the season as a result.

Will watch the match again tomorrow as recorded it but the performance and atmosphere was very tense in the first half IMO. Valencia coming on and the change in shape for the second half changed the game IMO.

Scholes was two levels dirtier than anybody else, no contest.

Oh quit your whining! I won't be surprised if you say Djourou's injury was due to the fact Hernandez made that run in front of him and it was wrong for Hernandez to make that run.

First chance ive had to be on since the weekend, i guess ill say congrats on the win, turning into the same old season as you all predicted you cnuts :P . Hope you beat city, but hope whoever you come up against in the final pounds yah.

How I'd love to see a similar result at the Emirates later on in the season. Doubt it will happen though. We're a different animal at OT.

We will. Principally because currently we have three goalkeepers out, two centre-halves, two centre-mids, and one winger. It's not bottling as such, it's called being massively depleted.

There you have your excuses ready. If you don't win the league it's because of injuries. I guess blaming refs this season was just not possible so back to the favorite Gooner excuse of "oh injuries killed us"

Rarely does it get to March and you still have your squad intact if you are in 4 competitions. Your hero Rafa used to prioritise.

They havent got the bottle to win the league. Crunch games they will always be found wanting.

Like we were against Chelsea and Liverpool? This is an odd season. We don't seem to have that champions mentality either it seems. Fact of the matter is the table suggests there is nothing in it. It's going to be very close.

We all have injuries to deal with.

Shouldnt your glorious midfield have battered that on Saturday?
