Manchester United v Middlesbrough

Certainly. Even still, with Yorke (cut) out of the picture, surely Andy Cole could have been made happy by giving him some matches. To have sold him with all the Yorke - SAF problems seems like the mistake of the season. Surely in a three striker set up, Cole should have been happy.

Forlan started 3 games and played bit-part in 6-7 more in two months. I'm not sure Cole would have thought Eriksson would call him for the World Cup with that.

As for Yorke and Fergie being 'stubborn', from the reserve reports it seems Dwight doesn't give a damn... So why should he play for the first team? Frankly, I don't feel a bit sorry Yorke's out of the picture despite today's result.

Cole may have played more than FORLAN has but he still wouldn't have played regularly as RVN and OLE were cemented in as starters... and COLE wouldn't have been happy! It was time for him to go thats all!
Strikers can't score if they don't have the chances ... produced by the midfield who didn;t preform today !

Obviously Cole believed that if he wasn't a regular first team striker he would be overlooked for England. He talked about it in the media for motnhs and he really wans't a first team regular.

There's no doubt that having him could have made a difference, but he just wanted to go.

My point is not so much who does Forlan come in for -- it's more that I just don't see him as an out and out striker. He ran all over the place today but in front of the goal he just didn't seem dangerous.

I agree with you about the Yorke thing though -- he is gone adn what is annoying me is that we don't have an experienced striker to take over.

Our squad was lacking!

I have seen FORLAN playing for his old club in Argentina and i asure you he CAN finish very well and his shooting is brilliant, i cab see why you would think that but i just think he needs his first goal and quick (he has bloody come close enough) and then he will start to show his true potential!!!!!

Just stop the Bull shitt and admit it, Forlan is not what we expected and Veron is going from average to bad to worse, and I am not happy to say that. :o

What did you expect? A player to blend in to a new league straight away and score double hat-tricks every game?

Lets face it, you were probably complaining about players/the manager in the treble season, in short, you will NEVER be happy, very sad IMO.

<img src="graemlins/keano.gif" border="0" alt="[Keano]" /> Sure, You are the real Fan and nobody is entitled to a different opinion.
When we bought Forlan, Fergie had already shoved Yorke away(rightly so)and Cole sold.Ole and RVN were the only strikers left, so what I expected for close to 8 mil is a 'ready to step in ' 3rd choice striker at least, but what I have seen up to now is NOTHING, and the big problem is that, there is no reason to be optimistic in his case.

So this is a new way to say 'Veron cost us the title'? We would have needed to beat Arsenal even if we won that much, and we didn't beat Arsenal anyway!
