Manchester United slapped with 1/5 food hygiene rating after guests at corporate event given raw chicken | Back up to 4* now but still issues

It was a private event, nothing to do with matchday corporate hospitality (not that they should be singled out for what would effectively be criminal harm) just as easily could of been the MUDSA Christmas party or any number of events.
Fair point.
Hopefully this chef is cooking for the Glazers next time they're at Old Trafford.

Sacked them years ago

I'm basing it on the 12 years I worked there, the information of the chefs I currently work with who also continue to work at Old Trafford and the fact i know the people involved and how it happened....I can tell you the marinade that was on the chicken if you want, I can tell you the middle name of the chef who's recipe it uses, I can also tell you that this has been in the news for weeks from multiple news sources. Its only made the likes the Mail today as the food rating outcome has been confirmed.

You say you sacked them years ago but you said you started in 2010 and worked there for 12 years = 2022 so by years ago you mean 1 year?

So we are appealing this and not appealing the dalot red the other day. Good to see that our priorities are right.

I did 12 years as a chef at Old Trafford, this is massive, you simply cannot do this in a food operation of there scale hence the severe downgrade. Many of saw this coming and bailed a few seasons ago, it's very indications of how the club is run post Fergie.
Sad times.

Figure of speach, the final time i was there was in August 2021 but the process of leaving started way before then.

Who needs raw chicken? The football we play is enough to make me sick.

The food hygiene rating can be miss leading sometimes you can get a 1 for not having your admin up to date and staff not done the right courses etc.

years and years of mismanagement and neglecting season ticket holders is one thing, but doing this to the real fans at a corporate event is beyond the pale.
Caterers are hired for events like this.. am i wrong? I’ve done corporate events and even political events, all catered. Glazers and ratcliffe weren’t whipping up some chicken cutlets on the pan

“They spotted the bloody grease wall AND the rotting shelves? What you’re giving me is two negatives, Dave and what I need is a positive.”

Hey, did you hear about the incident with the gluten intolerant person at that event and United's gloriously ridiculous attempt to appease him?

Actually, he needs three positives. Two to counteract the negatives, and one so he can be ahead in the positives.

No, haven't heard about that one, they used to be very sketchy on dietary requirements, particularly on matchdays, from what I've heard since chicken-gate they've been watched very closely

Apparently it was at the same event.

Their 'gluten free' meal contained gluten and put the person in hospital. To apologise, the club sent a basket of biscuits and cakes to his hospital bed, obviously containing huge amounts of gluten. They had to follow that gesture of good will with cold hard cash!

Never really understood how people managed to undercook chicken. Its like one of the easiest things to cook. You put it in boiling water its cooked, you fry it for 5 mins its cooked. In fact its easier to overcook it than to undercook. If someone undercooks a chicken i dont want them anywhere near my kitchen. Its a disgrace to my ancestors who invented fire.

You couldn't make that up.
Presumably the cash wasn't to pay for the funeral.

Wow! It's almost a blessing this event happened, they were racing to the bottom so quickly they could of killed someone working at this standard, hopefully they've learned that all this corner cutting to try and save a few quid doesnt work, it must of lost them a significant amount of money.
