Manchester United Kits 2018/2019

I thought it was white with pink sleeves :nervous:

Am I proper blind or is it that!

Have you seen the Palermo kit? Proper pink yet far from red

That’s a proper pink

That would clash with red. Palermo have alternated between that shade and a lighter shade (not as light as ours) but yeah, that would clash.

Home shirt is still an awful design. Seen it on a lot of people now as well as the players and it’s just naff with those lines. It’s not anything to cry over but it’s a shit effort. Pink is the best and the blue 3rd kit is a decent one.

Thats what i said all along. Pink is very good, blue is kind of ok (think they could have done much better, like the fan design one was very simple but gorgeous) and the home one is terrible

Yeah it does. Serie A had weird kit rules in the past but UEFA and the FA are much more stringent. Blue and green clash, orange and red too according to them.
We played at Hull in red before

What makes you think it isn’t a nod to the old Manchester football pink?

It just sounds completely un-credible.

The designer looking for things essential to Man United history ... ‘let’s see, how about the city’s old sports paper, what colour were they again?’

Or Woodward telling the designer: ‘Do something tasty, classical and creative, but Sir Bobby demands that it’s gotta be pale pink, because of the local paper when he was young’.

Nah, I don’t believe any of it. More like: ‘We need something fashiony and glitzy and unlike any of the traditional colours, so more fans will buy the shirt, and we need any kind of excuse afterwards for why it’s in the club’s tradition anyway, to appease the few who cares about that mushy ‘history and soul’ crap.’

You don’t sound like hard work at all.

You have a point. I also think that the 'history and football pink' stuff was added on later.

Adidas released similar away shirts for all their big club this season except for Real Madrid. United, Juventus and Bayern have all got pale, pastel coloured away shirts for this season and I don't think it's a coincidence by Adidas. They probably chose the colours first and later decided which club to give it to. Our pink away kit and Juventus beige away kit for example could easily have been swapped and it would work for both clubs. Someone probably stumbled upon football pink and thought that it could be connected to the club, and here we are with a pink kit.

However, I love the away kit.

It still turns my stomach.

That’s what these kit designers do in an attempt to appeal to fans that want flashy tops, and fans that want us to recognise our roots. The home top is supposed to be linked to the railwaymen our club was founded on. The third kit is supposed to be linked to the famous blue kit of 68. And the away kit is supposed to be linked to the Manchester pink. All very loosely in my opinion, but I don’t think it’s an afterthought. They’ve clearly gone out of their way this season to desperately show we’re still connected to our history through elaborate adverts and campaigns. Bryan Robson was selling the pink shirts from a fecking newspaper stand on market street for feck sake.

Wouldn’t be surprised if Woodward was involved to be honest. Desparately trying to show the fans that we’re still a football club and not just a brand name.

I think you’re right. Mind you, with American owners, if they didn’t aim to please, we’d probably have chevy wings on the shirt shoulders and a carnival of commercial ads all over the kit in no time. I just want them to court the roots and traditions fans more than they do the flashy fashion fans, which tbh I think they’ve done well most of the time until this year. Red socks, no white shorts, you just know this was all in the hands of a Liverpool supporter or something.

If there's something good about the pink kit is that it makes us pass the ball quickly. The technology behind it is just insane.
