Manchester United | Injury Watch 2024/25

Any update on Martinez?

Ruben said he should be fine for tonight. He ran out of legs against Arsenal and Bruno suggested moving him up front, so they did.

Also adds to the previous notion from Ten Hag that he didn't quite have the engine for DM.

Rumour has it that Shaw will be back in the next couple of weeks.

What a boost if he could stay fit for the 2nd half of the season.

Manchester United get Luke Shaw injury boost and give Mason Mount update - Manchester Evening News https://search.app/FtNA3JCaeaJfHnCL9
If (and of course it's a big if) Shaw can stay fit for some time when he comes back it would mean much. We've got Europa League games coming up, Leicester cup game coming up soon as well. Need him (and Evans) to fill in at LCB position to rest Martinez from time to time.

At the risk of being accused of jinxing things….

The difference since ten Hag left, aside from the eternal sicknotes of Shaw and Mount, has been palpable.

I hope this reflects much better load management under Amorim and doesn’t soon revert back.

I think you probably have to factor in the possibility that players just didn’t fancy it under ten Hag and the threshold for being injured was probably a lot lower.

Glad that Shaw is coming back soon. Put him as LWB and Dalot as RWB could make a huge difference.

Mount still has no set return date? WTF is wrong with this guy? Fecking ridiculous

About time Shaw returned. But lets be honest, we all know in a couple weeks he'll just be out again. Cant rely on the fella at all.

Time to get rid. We're not a charity

How do we have so many less injuries this season is what I wonder...
Amorim has rotated a lot. Surely helping.

We've also got a lot more control in games. The attacking threat is still lacking but it's not basketball football every match exhausting the players.

Yup. He’ll be back for a game or two and then get injured and be out for another two months. He’s a bloody liability, as is Mount.

Rotation... players are monitored on their workload. Ten Hag used to stick to the players he liked and then they got injured.

Look at the Newcastle game, where we played Casemiro Eriksen, although we had suspensions, Mainoo rested that game.

We also have seen when he first game in, alot of changes in players in game, recently too where Yoro and De Ligt felt something and they were replaced.

The trick now is to learn how to rotate a lot to limit injuries but without it effecting results, league placing and trophy success.

Doing the former is easy, if it's at the cost of the latter. Effectively combining the two is much harder. But not much point doing it if it proves counter productive to performances and results.

Rotating doesn't affect our results that is for sure.

Interesting points as from the off it doesn't feel like we are rotating anymore at certain positions, Bruno, Dalot, Amad & De Ligt seem to play majority of minutes but the points made regarding chasing the ball probably ring true, we are more structured and not chasing around like headless chicken.

Wish other stats were more readily available such as running stats...

Agreed, at the start we rotated alot more. I remember a Amorim early days saying something that he needs Amad to work on his stamina.. now it looks like he has and he can finish more games than not.

Bruno... we know he is a machine, he doesn't need rest.

He has found a core that he can rely on, also Dalot has to play as we had no other left sided player.

I hope for Dalots sake in a perverse way he would request a rest, he get's hammered for his performances on the left despite him being a right back but yea agree with your comments except I think Amad is look a bit tired now

Amad I think is a work in progress but he has little alternative in that area. We need a livewire, a player that presses, keeps the ball well and can dribble. We have no one with either of those qualities in the right 10.

I can see Mount being an option but he is always injured.

I do think if he does get fit, we can see Mount with Bruno in CM and Amad as a wing back.

Against the lower sides that would be great but I've given up with Mount a bit like Shaw as we can't rely on them.

We need somebody who can progress the ball up the pitch as Amad takes these tiny touches and the defender is terrified to dive in so ends up backing off and he can gain 10/ 20 metres of pushing the ball forward without even doing much, it's a great quality.

I think in relation to the thread though with Lindelof going this summer it's only really Mount & Shaw that we have as perma-crocks in the squad which has got to be the best it's been in a while

Yep we need a Musiala in our left 10 as well, which is a bit too far for us, so even a gibbs white or morgan rodgers type player.

It is interesting that Shaw gets injured in training most times, he plays a game and its his recovery that gets him out for longer, so we cant even blame game time for this.

Mount, has been really looked after this season, he just falls apart, the City game was an example, nothing injury turns into months, after he has spent months on the sideline.

He was so reliable for Chelsea in his early part as well, an ever present in the team.

I will say, if they get injured one more time this season, we have to sell them this summer.

There were rumours again when Mount joined us that he had some issue fitness wise that 30 years ago would have ended his career but with modern technology we felt it was manageable but his body doesn't seem to be reacting well to it at all, it's thought he is doing all the right things and wants to be fit but it's just not happening for him.

That's all hearsay of course and I wish Luke Shaw tried that hard so I have empathy for Mount but I just think he's done at top level intense football.

Would be good to compare distance travelled per player in EtH’s last 10 games and Amorim’s first 10 games.

Amorim’s system does look like a more forgiving system to play in compared to EtH’s, with only the full backs expected to kill themselves running up and down.

At this point, I don’t really harbour any ill feeling towards Shaw. I think his career is likely finished and he’s seeing out his contract as is his prerogative and benefitting from whatever rehab we can provide his leg. I think England last summer was a mistake but you could give him the benefit of the doubt and say that if he was fit, after months out before hand, a summer tournament leading onto preseason could have been a good process and for almost any other player is might have been but it’s clear that he’s got serious issues and there’s no doubt they stem from that horrific double fracture he suffered.

I’ve said it before but we all felt sick for him that night and feared for his career at such a young age. Well those fears were founded.

He is never questioned on what injuries these guys have.

Anyway, most have given up on Mount and Shaw, they need replacing, they have become pointless players, cannot be relied on.

Once again, I have to say feck you to that cnut Moreno. He got away unpunished, but should have received a fecking lifetime ban.

Since signing Mount from Chelsea I think he barely play for us. Another master stroke from ETH.

Bit unfair to blame Ten Hag. Do you blame Ferguson for signing Owen Hargreaves? Hindsight is a wonderful thing, as they say.

Nope. I blame ETH not for the injury but spending 50M signing a shit player last year on his contract

End of the season then. And then they'll both get injured again in some meaningless pre-season game in the USA
Yip. Then they'll return in November, play another 2 or 3 games, and then get injured again and be out until at least March next year.

Yeah didn't he nearly lose his leg or maybe I completely misinterpreted, in terms of Mount I wonder will he ever get his Utd career off the ground. I don't recall him being this injury prone whilst at Chelsea.
