We're not going to sign a Kane/Benzema and I don't even think any striker we sign would be even able to compete with Rooney but rather fill in for him when he's injured due to the whole captaincy status.
Bar the skunk haircut, he'd be a decent squad addition. Sort of what Remy is for Chelsea.

Same here. I felt it was an underwhelming signing when it was announced but he really surprised me.

Will be so shocked if he comes, but looking at our squad for the tour; a PL proven 10+ goals a season striker behind Rooney, could fit in nicely, with Wilson staying. That's a good 3 strikers for rotation, with Wilson not expecting too many minutes. I don't think we can truly afford to splash if we're going to spend on Otamendi, which I think is nailed on. It has some logic to it, but very little.
