Manchester United announce TeamViewer as shirt sponsor

On the surface this looks a desperate move by United, TeamViewer is pretty small time. But given our performance on the field and pandemic, its probably the best case scenario. Not sure what TeamViewer gets out of it really. Its a software platform, not sure how United makes it worth it for them. There is a bunch of similar crapware floating around.

yes it does. BBC reported to be 50m only so less than previous one, and it is 5 years deal so we might be looking for a new sponsor when things get better.

What's training through Augmented Reality ?

FOOTBALL

Enhanced training and performance through AR
Remote access to players for scheduling and training
Remote access and AR for medical examinations
Enabled scouts through remote access technology

https://www.teamviewer.com/en/manutd/

The Club is preparing for training from home, watching game at home, for the next few seasons. When shit hit the fan, we should be well prepared for any league game settle at FIFApro.

Rubbish software, rubbish logo but to be fair, it is a sign of the times though, so can't really complain from United's point of view.

Don't get your hopes up about big spending this summer and Haaland, Sancho etc... I will be very surprised if we have more than 40-50M to spend. Unless Pogba/Martial leave, I cannot see a big signing coming in. Maybe a Bruno like signing and a Dan James is looking like the best case scenario.

Cool. Thanks for the advice.

I love the logo! It'll keep the opposition guessing which way Diallo and Rashford are gonna go.

Breaking up the sponsorships into portions is a good way to go when everyone is short on money, and 47 million a year is amazing considering a few more got Chevy everything. Wonder how much United will get for the rest.

It will be great for our goalie in a penalty situation. The De Gea/Hendo just has to do a moon-walk-like body shaping movement to throw off the pen taker.

It makes a lot of sense for Team Viewer -- firstly in a couple of years, most people in the world (outside IT support) will have heard of them. United helped re-launched an old fuddy-duddy brand like Audi into a more exciting one, with the launch of more exciting cars.

Team Viewer may be on an acquisition binge or be expanding/developing internally their product lines to compliment what they have now. My guess that it will be a more consumer-driven range of applications.

If anything Team Viewer gets more out of this than United, having a no-name brand company latching onto a globally famous one. The brand value must have risen by tens of millions just by this announcement.

MY point exactly. This looks like the first sign that our commercial power is effected by the football. Who knew. Certainly not Ed.

This is potentially very bad. Be sure the Glazers where shite owners when we where the biggest commercial football club in the world. Imagine how bad they'll be if we don't stay that way
The Chevrolet deal averaged £51m per year due to exchange rates for shirt and car. This is £47m per year just for shirt. If we can get a decent car sponsorship that will more than make up for it.

Maybe our commercial power isn't adversely affected like you hope it will be.

Football fans think the world revolves around them. Most people that know TeamViewer know its a crappy brand with security/hacking issues historically. Most people that would care about TeamViewer and don't know, don't need Man Utd to educate them and certainly have better options out there. Man Utd is a big brand but believe me outside of football no one cares that much.

Kia? Hyundai?

100% it is meant to be worn by footballers. So it would be great if 45 year old men could stop walking around the town with their belly hanging out the bottom of it. Also there is no huge design and fashion following in football kits, Adidas and Nike produce a template every year and colour in the sections after for all their teams. It's not fashionable clothing and it shouldn't be worn on any but the occasions of actually playing football as an adult. 99% of football kits looks vile no matter the sponsor.
Let people enjoy things

The only companies Woodward would turn down money from are indeed porn companies and terrorist organizations, you'd think.
Anyway how is an app developer a "good fit"? Shit logo, shit name, small.
They offered the most cash after those with questionable morals were excluded.

There was a past article somewhere that stated a rumor that we were going to be sponsored by a Chinese company beginning with the letter ‘H.’ After much digging, I think the caf settled on Haier as the most probable sponsor as a result.
No it wasn't even an article, it was just a rumour that started because some random guy commented on the news article and said our new sponsor started with 'H' and he claimed his comment got moderated because of it.

Even more hilarious.

The ratio deal/turnover seems a bit effy. These results are probably favorable due to covid and people having to work remote. Will they have the same results in 2 years if vaccination gets rid of this pandemic ? I can't see this deal going till the end  In the meantime that is quite a lot of money for just the shirt.

He's facing right...but he's walking left...but the guide arrows are jiggling! Aaaarrrrgghhh! *Hits Row Z*

Imagine dancing around with the arrow? I bet the moment De Gea saves a pen, clubs will be complaining about an unfair advantage.

Talk about your Chinese whispers. The Sun/Mail 'stories' highlighted an 1. American 2. software company.

Does look like they got #2 right. Makes one wonder some things.

Could we genuinely not all chip in a few quid and arrange a redcafe sponsorship?

I know for a fact that @Mr Pigeon is loaded to the extreme.

Teamviewer needs to be paraded around. At times like this remote software should have an increased usage but most of the people i work with prefer anydesk and the newer employees dont even know what Teamviewer is, again because of anydesk. Sensible sponsorship to be honest.

Yeap. Anydesk is seamless. But onward & upwards TeamUnited!!

I think the consensus these days is that Team Viewer is a meh bit of software but it helped me lot when I had to help folks with their computer stuff back in 2011-12.
The logo definitely doesn’t go well with our red kit though.

Also what’s this thing about them being only shirt sponsors? In addition to shirts, Chevy was a transport partner? What else am I missing?

You should see the Team Viewer logo now

It's not good by any means, but the golden color of Chevrolet didn't suit the shirt's red color at all. If they adjusted Team Viewer logo a little bit to be white and red, I think I can live with it.

Just realised I used TeamViewer all through Uni so I could use my desktop PC through my laptop when I was on campus. It was really useful software until one day I was working to a deadline and at the end of the lecture I was on autopilot and accidentally put my desktop to sleep, breaking the remote connection in the process and had to jump in my car and do the hour round trip just to turn it back on.

Tend to agree. We now have two shirts sponsor and I have no idea what either of them do. And I don’t really care either. Is that really worth £47m a year to these companies? Surely advertising should be about targeting people who actually care about the brand.
