Manchester United 4:1 Melbourne Defeat (Fri 15th July, 11:05 UK time)

McFred in midfield and DvB still on the bench. You love to see it

I wasn't so keen on Martinez but it seem Varane is still struggling to keep fit.

I feel like Varane is going to be our new Bailly when we sell Bailly. Either that or they are going to compete for places on the physio bench.
It’s crazy to have six centre backs and NEED to go and purchase another. That’s an epic failure for our previous regime.

Wondered why Varane was such an easy get last summer. Guarantee you, these injury problems are not going to go away. Whoever did his medical needs looking at.

Shame Garner still struggling with the knock he picked up, one of the players I was looking forward to seeing most in pre-season.

I know he doesn't have any other options as the club are currently fecking him in the window but that squad and specifically Midfield is unbelievably depressing to have to watch.

Looking very likely we will be starting the premier league with that dynamic duo in midfield.

Thought I'd drop in here and spice things up a bit so listen up ya whinging poms. This ain't a friendly. Prepare yourselves for a demoralising defeat which leaves a **** stain on your pre-season. First of all I'll go through most of your squad.

De Gea - Only still with you for the money
Wan-Bissaka - Silly name
Varane - Good in the past but now an overrated has been
Lindelof - Nothing special
Maguire - Not sure if he's here but wouldn't even make our team
Shaw - Never met his potential and never will
McTominay - Placeholder until you actually find someone better
Fred - See above
Sancho - One of your only good players and you can't even get him to play well
Fernandes - One season wonder
Rashford - Useless
Martial - Almost as useless
Ronaldo - Too scared of the Victory to even make the trip

Also heard some Dutch fella doesn't want a bar of ya and you are practically tryin' to kidnapp him.

Me and the boys got the BBQ ready to go and drinks on ice ready to celebrate a Victory win.
Great post haha

Newbie... come on who really is this???

I can't believe they're still announcing the team by shirt number. I wanted to believe in this new era but it's just more of the same.

Its almost like the people running social media have zero clue.

Never mind the line-up, how big and stupid is the trophy we're going to win?

I'm happy with the amount of kids on that bench, I hope many of them get a chance today.

Assuming we get both Martinez and De Jong, they are first choice and we lose Ronaldo, it's looking like this will be our lineup at the start of the season:

DDG
Dalot, CB, Martinez, Shaw
De Jong, CM
Sancho, Bruno, LW
Martial
Imagine he'll go with Maguire at CB but if he's fit, but wouldn't be surprised to see Varane start instead of him. I don't think we'll start the season with Lindelof but do think he can find his way into the team if Maguire's form isn't good and Varane is injured.

Toss up between Fred and McTominay in CM to partner De Jong.

I would still fancy Rashford to play on the left but his position probably isn't so secure if others can step up and Martial may only get that no.9 slot if Ronaldo leaves and we don't get a no.9 to replace him.

Can't read too much into it as it's only pre-season but it looks to me like the writing is on the wall for AWB and I think VDB may struggle for minutes too with Eriksen also coming in.

So I assume Telles would continue place holding for Martinez till the Argentine arrives.

Maybe it's time to end this 'McFred' thing. They are on different levels.

on a totally different note, i caught a video the other day of Mark Goldbridge trying to actually credit himself with inventing the term "McFred" ..he says he was the first one to use it during a live stream, and it caught on... he was being deadly serious, he said he was getting tired of trying to defend it to people too
