Manchester United 4:1 Melbourne Defeat (Fri 15th July, 11:05 UK time)

Simply incredible how easy that was. Was like a training drill where you're not allowed to tackle. Remember though, to have concerns about this team means you're a drama queen, even though they've looked like this for 12 months

- "Lindelöf comes from a place called Vasstorass"
If you've no clue how to pronounce it, why even try...

We’ve been quite good in possession in the last 15, has to be said.

Sounds like a mid season game with them parking the bus and going down easy. So boring, just have a go, it's all about fitness anyway and trying different things.

So, if we beat Liverpool and Melbourne beat us, does that mean Melbourne play City or Real Madrid in the final?

Martial is a brilliant modern striker.

Sevilla are fecking idiots for failing to get a tune out of him

Why does Fred keep insisting on playing those 30 yard straight balls into the box?

A bit better now.

Although admittedly I'm not watching.

My patience is running out with Ten Hag.

Edit: Nice little Iniesta turn by MacTee

Honestly, it’s crucial for our transfers and season that players like Maguire and McT are shown up to be the dog shit that they are…at least that way ETH sees it and can make changes…

imagine starting the season with them two starting.

this is the type of game needed in preseason - no learning in winning easy in every game.

Main problem here is that they players are still the same players as last season = they are not good.

TH might be able to get them a bit better but they are still the same players. Only so far they can go.

He needs to get rid of them over time. Get his own players in - which admittedly appears to be Ajax

Playing well here. You can tell when we have to give a think on what to do on and off the ball and when it randomly clicks together.

Don't let us wondering, how is it pronounced?

No one can tell me with a straight face that a pairing of Eriksen and De Jong wouldn't be an improvement over McFred. They get beaten relatively easily and are poor in the build up.

Lindelof and Shaw are 100% at fault for the goal yet Maguire gets all the blame. Nice to see this place hasn't changed a jot since last season.

I like that Melbourne are playing so compact at the back. One of our biggest problems in recent years has been dealing with teams that just bulk the front of their box with players, so it’ll be interesting to see if we can learn to break that down.

Sancho is brilliant. Miles better in these two games than he was all last season

As some of you were quick to point out the other day, LvG won all of his pre seasons and we looked pretty much great in all of them. This result doesn’t matter and even a bad performance is useful as it gives EtH something to work on. Can we stop with the whining and the bitching about the players ffs.

Last 10 minutes have been much better. Bruno, Sancho and Martial looking sharp and Fred really looks a £50m player in this system. His ability to win the ball back up the pitch is top class.

In a game like this where the the oppo is sitting deep, where would De Jong play? Instead of Fred of McTominay?
