Manchester United 3:1 Crystal Palace (Tue 19th July, 11:10 UK time)

Much worse after the subs, after the first batch basically bossed the game. Was good to see us actually getting in behind the defence, and then creating clear chances.

Will Fish was all at sea there. Trying to shore up the defence but the scale of the task was too big.

A pro-fish-inal foul as last man sees the end of his game.

Fin.
How long did that take?

Elanga is not good enough and was always overhyped.

He needs a loan, or even selling him for a decent fee.

I dont care its 15 mins after the face...

player was fishing for the touch and Will took the bait

The only good thing is that Hannibal at least showed ETH his workrate. Hopefully that can give him some more minutes.

Solid enough, good to see Martial continuing his resurgence, nice high press, solid but not spectacular result there. The Rashford goal was pretty tasty.

Bench needs complete revamp. Surely Amad, Pelistri goes on loan. Telles and AWB needs to be sold. Hope one of Garner, Zidan or Hannibal cements in the team + bench with good loans for the remaining. We might need some fringe buys too to bulk up the bench considering we will be playing in Europe too and hoping to go the distance.

Malacia was poor today. I hope he is better than this. Most of the younger players did not look too good either. From the subs I think that Bissaka, Donny and Savage did okay.

Depends, I prefer white fish like cod, plaice and sea bass etc.

Trout and Salmon are more pink but still lovely.

seasoning is important.
I love small ones, which you can eat like chips, like anchovy for example.

That tackle stank, I didn’t know he haddock it in him, but he should not have been the sole player to get sent off

Among the senior squad:
Martial, Bruno, Sancho the most impressive in this game. Fred and Malacia to a certain extent as well. Rashford doesn't still look at his best. VdB looked anonymous.

Among the young ones:
Amad needs another loan. Not much to say about the rest.

Less than 3 weeks to season kicking off and only new player we have blooded is Malacia. 5 PL games in August too, worrying.

It’s calm if it wasn’t Eriksen and Martinez who have a solid idea of what’s required I’d be a bit more concerned but they should adapt quite quickly.

Great 60 minutes, continuing to see the evolution of our style into a EtH team. Dalot has the RB position lockdown, he and Sancho have a very good understanding. As I said Martial will surprise a lot of people as this false 9/link up striker role is where he excelled under Ole. Malacia reminds me a lot of evra when he first joined, hopefully he has a similar evolution. Maguire was good but I think he's on thin ice, it just feels like almost every other defender we have offers more than him, and now with the addition of Martinez even more so. Lastly, we really need de jong, its important we have one of the two in the pivot being a player that is press resistant and comfortable in tight spaces.

Short range passing is so much more important. Hes a fantastic passer.
Agreed with the first bit. I think his inconsistent long range passes prevent him from being a fantastic passer in general, though.

It's the same with Arthur and Verratti. All three have the same strengths and weaknesses, and all three are my favourite midfielders right now. Their underwhelming passing doesn't bother me at all because the places they do excel more than make up for it.

All I see here is a school of Fish.

Another game where it's hard to tell exactly where we're at given the opposition's lineup.

But we certainly played well in the first 60 minutes, looked dangerous in the final third and seemed pretty comfortable throughout. Link up play at times was very good.

First 60 mins were great. After that was terrible tbh. All of them were useless. Martial was absolutely amazing, not just his goals, his linkup, his passing, his movement, everything was exceptional! Rashford grew into the game and did some nice stuff, can see his confidence growing. Dalot and Sancho continuing their excellent linkup on the right. Defence looked really solid before the changes. Malacia did well before the subs. Midfield could have done a bit better I think but overall it was really positive.
