Manchester United 2:2 Steven Gerrard's Villa (Sat 23rd July, 10:45 UK time)

Well said. Won't go down well with the "they're not real fans" brigade from the previous match thread but this is the reality.

I'd like to see Garnacho get some minutes. Strange he hasn't had any time at all

That's probably also the sentiment at Ajax, where booing players is far more common. Haller got booed last season as did Blind in his first stint there, just to name a few.

Looking forward to watching us play some more 'Hag ball'. Even though it's "only" pre season, nice to be excited for our games again.

People who said he doesn't have charisma are mental.
He has plenty charisma, but he has learned a lot about dealing with the press at Ajax. Tbh, he seemed shy but if you looked well enough you could see that he thinks it's kinda bullshit to deal with the same questions over and over. If you checked any clips of him talking with players or coworkers he wasn't shy at all. Guess he just found more balance between sharing his truth and being nice to people who need to sell newspapers.

Plus he just seems really excited about his new job. But from early on in his career I really did like how blunt he can be. Will be more fun to follow Utd with this guy at the helm.

Its both but he can't say the other thing. Booing a player at the start of a new season in a friendly is mental behaviour.

Definitely not real fans. Ten Hag is a professional and has only just joined so he's not going to pick a fight with our fake fans. Nothing new, though. John Aston Jr had it, Nani had it, Fellaini had it, Pogba had it.

Are people still rating Gerrard as this soon-to-be managerial maestro like when he first joined Villa? I have him as an outside bet to be one of the first managers sacked in the upcoming season.
Gerrard to be sacked 2nd, right after Lampard. There’s no player I dislike more than Gerrard, I hope we fecking smash them, and I hope someone tackles the cnut in the technical area.

Hope we batter these… can’t stand gerrard! Want another top performance from the lads and come out with no injuries.

Passed the inspection to go ahead but pitch sounds an issue due to the weather. ‘Barely playable’ apparently.
Might see 45 mins each for the squad to try and protect players from injury perhaps.

If you're booing your captain then you're definitely not a real fan, just a jumped up glory supporter.

It would be great to see Hannibal and Garner get some decent minutes in this game.

Right, let's wait until he loses the armband, then we can boo him without being labelled a glory supporter.

Look, I don't mind the guy as much as others do, in fact I think he would look solid if he had a functioning midfield in front of him. But the reality is that last season was a shitshow all around and he was awful along with being a crap captain. Fans have the right to call a spade a spade.

Hoping to see garner start this game alongside Fred. If garner can show the quality he has been for forest then he should jump the line ahead of mctominay

Yes he was very bad but so was most of the team… no one’s booing rashford or any of the midfield. If the midfield wasn’t so crap and got walked through all the time then our defence would look a lot better anyway.

I know its only pre-season but I'm getting these weird feelings of looking forward to watching United games. There were times last season when I'd be watching from behind the sofa like watching Doctor Who and the Daleks. But I'm getting kind of excited about the coming season. Do I need professional help?
