Manchester United 2:2 Steven Gerrard's Villa (Sat 23rd July, 10:45 UK time)

Would like to see some rotation.

DDG

Malacia

This should give a better indication of where we're at currently. Liverpool were behind us in preparation and started with a very weak side. Not much needs to be said about Melbourne and Palace barely had a B team.
Villa have also had 3 friendlies now and I think they are close to full strength so should be a decent friendly.

Cheeky 20 million pounds bid for their unsettled midfielder Carney Chukwuemeka. Looks a brilliant attacking midfield prospect for the future.

At least this thread Will not contain any Fish puns.

Time to knock Villa off the perch.

It would be jumping the shark but I hope we beat them so badly that it's figuratively equivalent to us putting Gerrard's head on a pike.

This is the last game of the tour right?

United will fly back to England the day after presumably?

--------------------De Gea
Dalot - Maguire - Lindelof - Malacia
---------------Donny--Fred
------Sancho - Bruno - Rashford

Seeing as it’s a practice game, can we devote ten minutes or so for our players brushing up on their ball-hitting accuracy by taking pot shots from various places on the pitch with the aim of hitting Slippy’s face?

This about setting up for the new season, I don't care too much about "Giving youngsters a chance" if they aren't going to feature much this year as fun as it is to see some of them! The main team should get the majority of the minutes but I really think Mctominay is the weak point here and I'd like to see the below:

DDG
Dalot_Varane_Martinez**_Shaw
Fred_Garner
Sancho_Bruno_Rashford
Martial

I'd like to see Iqbal, Savage, VDB and Elanga get minutes as I think they all have the potential to play a pivotal part this season

** Bailly if Martinez hasn't joined up

Venue: Optus Stadium, Perth, Australia
Kick off time: 17:45 local, 10:45 UK
Channel: MUTV

They're all photoshopped but McTomminay is the most photoshopped photoshopped player in that photoshopped poster.

I'll like to see the 11 start and get 70 mins minimum.
Degea
Dalot
Varane
Lindelof
Shaw
Fred
VDB
Bruno
Rashford
Sancho
Martial

I would like to see DVB get sufficient minutes with the senior players to see what he can offer in the role ahead of Mctominay. Varane and Shaw back in place of Maguire and Malacia after the other two started last time out, the rest of the team picks itself at this point.

He looks better than Bellingham
No he fecking does not  he's had 14 top flight games and hasn't looked remotely good enough for the PL yet. The money he's asking for is delusional.

There's no way he's asking for 100k a week, that's just tabloid shite. He wants first team football.
The £100k might be bollocks but it's been pretty widely reported that he's asking for a lot more than Villa are willing to pay.

Might? Come on now.

If he was wanting that much Barcelona wouldn't be anywhere near him. It would also make him the 3rd highest paid player in thee Villa squad.

To put it into perspective, Jacob Ramsey currently earns between 7.5k-15k a week (sources conflict). I imagine Villa have given him a contract offer in that region, maybe a bit more given the contract issues. Why wouldn't he look elsewhere? Especially given how Gerrard froze him out last season, he's not obliged to sign for Villa.

I think there'll be a couple changes with the majority of the team kept intact for 60-70 mins.

De Gea

Dalot Maguire Varane Shaw

McTominay Garner

Sancho Bruno Rashford

Martial

Jacob Ramsay is on £70k a week, as per the Times. Gerrard froze him out because of the contract issues, the contract issues aren't as a result of him being frozen out. That wasn't really the main point of my initial argument anyway, my initial argument was that it was ludicrous to suggest he was anywhere near as good as Bellingham. I concede the £100k is most likely bollocks.

Nah not at this stage of preseason. He’ll be wanting his starters to get 70min+ under their belts now.

I would agree if there wasn’t 2 more games after this, I think this is the last chance to experiment

He persisted with more game time for his main team against Palace. Hel do the same for Villa.

Hes not going to be messing about with the PL teams

We should be seeing more of a starting lineup for the remainder of our preseason matches. It's a shame Martinez and Eriksen couldn't join the tour. We only have the remaining two matches a day apart before the season start right?

He's been saying that they have to be prepared to get results from the beginning, so I think this'll be a first XI dominated game considering the opposition. The two games in Oslo and at OT are one day apart so after this game it's probably one game left for half the squad and one for the other half as opposed to two games to build fitness for the first team.
