At Old Trafford, Manchester

Kick-off: 3.00pm (GMT)

Vodafone Match Preview

After the shock of Champions League defeat against Zalaegerzsegi on Wednesday night, it's time to be positive as we head into another Premiership season.

The Reds may have been beaten in Hungary, but we created chance upon chance in the second half on a dodgy pitch, and that must give the coaching staff something to work on ahead of the visit of West Bromwich Albion. At least the Old Trafford pitch won't resemble someone's vegetable garden...

West Brom bring with them former United players Ronnie Wallwork and Michael Appleton, who will both be returning to Old Trafford for the first time since departing this summer and in 1997 respectively. In fact, it's West Brom's first visit to the Theatre of Dreams since 1986. Then, they lost 3-0 to a Jesper Olsen hat-trick.

They will be a different prospect this time around, however. They showed their team spirit last season in clawing back an eleven-point deficit to Wolves to finish second in the First Division and earn automatic promotion to the Premiership.

And since that they've strengthened their squad with the signings of ex-Reds midfielder Wallwork, Leicester's defender/midfielder Lee Marshall, goalie Joe Murphy from Tranmere and Preston's Sean Gregan. They are about to lose midfielder Andy Johnson, however, who has put in a transfer request on the eve of West Brom's baptism of fire at OT.

The Baggies will be without young midfielder Adam Chambers for the trip to Manchester. He's out for three months with damaged knee ligaments, and because of that Hawthorns boss Gary Megson isn't done in the transfer market. He's said to be looking at Millwall's Richard Sadlier, and after being turned down by Ipswich's Hermann Hreidarsson is stepping up his chase to bring Baggies favourite Lee Hughes back home.

United have defensive worries, with Fabien Barthez, Rio Ferdinand, Gary Neville and Wes Brown all almost certainly out. Roy Carroll, John O'Shea, Mikael Silvestre and Phil Neville will continue to provide cover for the quartet. In midfield, Sir Alex Ferguson must weigh up the performances of Roy Keane and Juan Veron against ZTE before decided whether to draft Paul Scholes or Nicky Butt - or both - into the side for Saturday's game.

Whatever side he chooses, make sure you're first to know by loading up ManUtd.com's live Match Tracker and Radio commentary service. It's the second best thing to being here!

Probable teams:

Manchester United: Carroll; P Neville, Blanc, O'Shea, Silvestre; Beckham, Keane, Veron, Giggs; Solskjaer, van Nistelrooy.

West Bromwich Albion: Hoult; Gilchrist, Moore, Sigurdsson, Clement; Johnson, Wallwork, Marshall, Gregan; Taylor, Dobie.

I had no delay on Wednesday, so if it wasn't your connection, I wonder what it was.

No radio link? Bloody poxy home site is still down. Wednesday nights broadcast was perfect!

Any idea why Butty is not in the starting line-up? I thought Fergie was starting him this season alongside Keano?

Who can pop over to OT and start broadcasting on unofficial sites?? ;)
