Surprisingly, I agree.

He is the best we have at coming on, so if he's on already, and we're not doing well, you wish he was on the bench.

But as there is such a big difference between goals scored from the start, and those scored as sub, what's the answer.

I love these times when I can be so smug. :D

But seriously - there has never been a player in the history of Manchester United, who has got the team out of the shit as many times as Ole.

Put it that way, what do you prefer this season 1-0 start or last season 3-2 over fulham ?

bollox, it's not like he ever won us the champions league or something, just a win over WBA... ;)

Opening days are usually hard as you're playing against a team which prepared for meeting yo ufor a couple of months.

We got 3 points, that'll do.

why??

u wanted him to start.

the only one who has the right to be smug is fergie.. for leaving supersub on the bench.

;)

Sometimes I wonder whether we're leaving Ole on the bench just so we'll have someone to bring on to change the match!

Yeah right.

Bit risky don't you think considering that the sub goals are few and far between?

Yes

But he never scores when he starts

So no risk really

;)

we won.. i am sure we wouldn't have, if Ole had started.

He's stars from the bench.... he knows it, you know it and more importantly Fergie knows it.

That would be excellent

;)

he will deffo score..

he's SUPERSUB remember??

;) </strong><hr></blockquote>

Dunno if it's definate that he'll score as a sub..

What's definate is that he won't score if he'll start..

;)

It's a win but somethings still wrong if there's only one goal against a new club to the prem.

I hope things turn around b4 the CL match coming up.

That's exactly why I am so happy for him for THAT goal at Nou Camp ... He will be forever remember even for the fans that are more proned to other higher-profile's player ...

For me, HE IS THE PHENOMENON !! ... doubtless !! He will be the legend ...

Sorry to interrupt & spoil your fun on Ole's effectiveness guys/gals but :

OLE/RUUD/THE REST STATS FOR EPL SEASON 2001-2002

OPTA STATS TAKEN FROM UNITED - OFFICIAL MAN UTD MAGAZINE :

OLE RUUD BECKS GIGGS

MINS PLAYED 2062 2555 2127 1679

goals 17 23 11 7

Shots on target 30 45 32 9

shots off target 23 42 38 20

goals to shots % 32 26

shooting accuracy 57 52

passing 894 645 1552 673

pass completion % 78 76 76 71

GOAL ASSISTS 9 4 12 8

As can be seen, Ole led the way in terms of goals to shots ratio, shooting accuracy - Ole had more shots on target than misses unlike the rest ( also showed Giggs' woeful passing & finishing ) pass completion & more importantly, he was 2nd in terms of goal assists ( which even stats can't lie!!!! ) - for the 5th-6th consecutive season in the top 3!!!

Now carry on with your dissection of Ole's role.

But you're forgetting the most important thing!

Ruud cost a lot of money.
